Mossberg help

Recommended Posts

My Mossberg 500 has a sticking action lock. When the trigger is pulled sometimes it will not allow a cycle without pressing the action lock lever.

I assume its just a spring, but which spring would it be? The schematics do not allow for a clear enough picture for the name.

That should be the action lock hammer spring: http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=54850A

But if it's getting weak, might was well put in a disconnecter spring too: http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=54880A

Might be worth polishing the front surface of the lock bar, as well, and perhaps where it contacts the rear of the bolt-carrier too, just to make sure it's not simply sticking engaged due to a rough surface. Also, check it for straightness.

I replaced the hammer spring, disconnecter spring, and the action lock lever just to be safe, but its still not cycling properly. In fact its not releasing the action any with the new springs after the trigger is pulled.

Is there anything I'm forgetting?

Disconnector maybe? Take it apart again and reassemble it again. Maybe something did not go back together right.I run into that with Ruger .22 pistols a lot.LOL.

There is a simple solution to your Mossy problem. Simply get yourself a real shotgun like a Remington 870. They even have the safety in the right location.
