CCW at Greer Stadium

I've been having baseball withdrawals since I moved here...so Im going to my first Sounds game on Thursday. What are the carry rules there? Any posted signs? Do they serve alcohol and if they do is it confined to certain areas? Any metal detectors etc.... I haven't been there so bear with me if this has been discussed before.

So I would assume throwing stars or tomahawks are out of the question.

I'm also thinking that Greer Stadium is wholly or partly owned by Metro, which would make it a public recreation locale prohibited under TCA?

I thought that was the case as well. In addition to being a place that serves alcohol for onsite consumption.

I think the alcohol law would get you at a stadium in TN, since most pro sports venues serve it throughout the stadiums and ballparks. You usually have beer guys walking around with cold beer selling it while you sit and watch a game. I would say that being inside a stadium would equal the "within the confines of a building" part of the no firearms where alcohol is served that is open to the public. This is totally different than walking down Beale Street or anywhere in downtown Memphis where alcohol is sold on the sidewalks because you are not inside a building and are on a public sidewalk/street right of way. If we could get this alcohol thing knocked out, not a 'restaurant carry' but fully allow people who have permits to carry where alcohol is sold for on site consumption, the baseball park, football stadium, and restaurant problem would be solved.

I will add that most sports venues do not run people through metal detectors. It seems that they are into checking women's purses and that is it. If you can hide it right, not walk around drunk, you can probably go undetected. It all depends on the environment where the stadium is and how safe the area is walking to and from your car. I don't walk around downtown Memphis at night without a handgun and you can take that for what it's worth.
