GunTec USA 7" FF Carbine Handrail Installation?

Recommended Posts

GunTec USA is American made freefloating handguard with some reasonable prices. I found a 7" FF handguard for $67 shipped (MSRP $99).

I have been unable to find out how they mount handguard.   I want to try a good quality ff carbine handguard on my M&P15, but want to stay below $100, if possible. I know Midwest Industries (MI) and Yankle Hill Machine (YHM) have ff 7" from $120-$139.

Has anyone used a GunTec brand freefloat handguard and is it mounted to original barrel nut, special barrel nut, or what? Any input would be appreciated. thanks

I have never used or installed a GunTec Brand Free Float Hand-guard, and I searched for one to see what it was. If I was looking at the correct Hand-guard it is a Quad Rail that appears mount on the Factory Barrel Nut. It appears to be a 2 piece set, with a Top & Bottom section, I'm guessing because there were No instructions or info about the Rails.

Typically the less expensive Rails (Do Not) come with a Proprietary Barrel Nut (Because that costs extra money). So they mount on the Factory Barrel Nut. One section will go on the Top & one on the Bottom, with either 2 to 6 screws securing the Rails together from the bottom Holding them tightly to the Barrel Nut. Allowing the Rail to Free Float from being secured to the Barrel Nut.

I found several different Models of the GunTec Rails selling from $35.00 up to $55.00 maximum.

If you call the vender of the rails I'm sure they can answer all of your questions.

Good Luck with your makeover.
