Price Check... Colt Officers 1986

Got a very good friend that shot a Kimber last

weekend and is wanting one really bad now!

(The CDP II one... can't say I blame him.)

He's toying with the idea of selling his Colt Officers .45

Bought in 85-86 for work (cop) but then a memo was put out

not allowing single action semi autos so it became his off duty

gun. Mid 80's he had custom work done to it. One piece guide rod,

new trigger, Match barrel, etc.

He asked me what I thought it might bring. I'm not up on

1911's especially Colts. I've shot it and it's great. Makes me miss

having a .45 again. :D

Anyhoo... just looking for a ballpark figure.

Thanks!

It’s not a collectable (although they are no longer made) but there are those out there that think Colts made during that time were some of the best. (I’m not one of them so don’t start with me ;)) A 1980’s Colt is as good as one made today.

It is doing nothing but appreciating. Unless he needs to sell it to get the Kimber; I would keep it. But if he has to sell it to get the Kimber I would bet he could trade straight across (or close to it) if he advertised it.

I’m curious to hear why he would want to trade a stainless frame Colt for an aluminum frame Kimber?

To answer your question; I looked on GB at the ones that actually sold in the last 90 days. They sold for $785, $850, and $800.
