Building my own 10/22

Recommended Posts

I have been away for awhile due to life/family/etc.  I am building my own 10/22, so far I have the trigger.  I already know which barrel I am getting (FJ Feddersen out of Loudon, TN).  My question is... does anybody know a good person/company here in Tennessee that makes custom stocks.  I have a pretty good general idea of what I am wanting regarding the stock, but it would be great to have some input.  Thanks!

With the Feddersen barrel your rifle will be heavy so you might as well get a stock that is worth that barrel:

You also need to get a bolt that will be up to par with that barrel.  If you already have a stock bolt and receiver you might want Randy at CPC to tune up that bolt for you or get an aftermarket bolt.  http://www.ct-precision.com/  or http://www.kiddinnovativedesign.com/KIDD-Bolt-_p_31.html

a few of us have been down the rabbit hole on 10/22s and if you really want to see what is out there just go to rimfirecentral.com

Here are some 10/22s I enjoy/enjoyed shooting:

There is a Feddersen barrel under this one somewhere:

B&C makes some nice stocks also.  Really depends if you want more of a tactical look and feel or something like a sporter. Then you also have a pile crazy looking stocks.

So are you planning tactical, sporter, or wild?

I would say the best deal for the money would be a Boyd's pro varmint. That would be the green/black stock Graycrait posted above. One of my personal favorites is the Bell &Carlson Anschutz stock.

Also the Titan stock mentioned above should be great also. I have not personally tried it though. At the moment I believe I have 8 10/22's in various custom configurations. I have tried just about every aftermarket part made. And if I haven't tired it Graycrait more than likely has.
