Anyone use Google Project Fi?

Google Project Fi

This looks interesting.

I was thinking of going with a Nexus 6P and found the Fi Project.

iPhone fanboy drawback: Only Nexus phones work on their network.

We are using Verizon and I really don't have any complaints except cost.  I feel like we could get a cheaper plan, somewhere.

Google Project Fi looks like a very simple, reasonable alternative to one of the main carriers.

Anyone using Fi and have an opinion one way or the other?

got an invite a long time ago thought it was awesome then validated the coverage area and it sucks in TN.

I switched to verizon prepaid almost two years ago and have never looked back.  3gb data, unlimited calls/texts $50.53/month includes taxes.  Same coverage in TN as I had with regular verizon.  The only place I was not able to receive a signal was at the george dickel distillery which is in a different dimension, under two rocks, down in a cove, the second turn on the left.

I'm go to Fi when my Verizon contract is up in a couple of months. 90% of the reviews and all of the people I've talked talked to in person love it.

Amazon has the 6P for the cheapest its ever been right now, but if you want to be on the bleeding edge of phone tech wait a couple of months for the 2 new Nexus phones. If Fi doesn't work for you you can always take the Nexus phones back to Verizon.

Fi has added a 3rd network to the deal that some TN people can take advantage of, US Cellular I believe.

they may have added a new carrier, but the majority of TN is still under 3G coverage.  No thanks.

Here's verizon's el cheapo prepaid 4G coverage (red 4G, white no coverage)

And Project Fi's magical green map of coverage (dark green is 4G, light green 3G, white no coverage at all)

Not sure why anyone that lives outside of a major city and travels more than 5 minutes from their house would take spotty 3g over 4g.

I have a Nexus 5, but this doesn't appeal to me.  Not enough to drop my nice, no contract, post-paid deal with AT&T, and have to go back to a stock OS (I have CyanogenMod installed).  It'll be interesting to see if they can make it work, though.  Would be a way to help keep Verizon and AT&T from getting out of control.

I am near Fairview.  So that kinda makes that it an easier decision.  I don't want marginal 3G because I have to tether for my computer internet.    I am happy with my Verizon coverage.  When I travel I rarely have any issues with coverage.

Thank you guys.
