Apparently, I was on a DOCSIS 2 modem.  haha!  - a little behind the curve in that department.  Well, it finally quit connecting at all today, and the Comcast "associate" informed me that my modem was EOL.

 

-went to Best Buy, bought the new modem (Arris SBG6700) - they Price-matched Amazon, and I had reward dollars from work purchases.  The kid at the register said, "woah,.. I've never seen anyone with $xx reward dollars!"   I laughed and told him I was glad I could help broaden his world.

 

Setup was online through the browser and painless, and oh what a difference it has made.  Maybe I won't wait 4 years to change modems next time.
