AK vs DracoSBR vs DracoMiniSBR (accuracy results)

Recommended Posts

I am not a ballistics wizard and I know the 7.62x39 is not a terribly accurate round. But it does have punching power. I am seeking to put together a Draco SBR.

I am wondering if anyone has made comparisons about how these three rifles + ammo would compare in accuracy, velocity and fragmentation between, say 50, 100 & 200 yds. Just your standard Milsurp FMJ tin ammo.

The problem with 7.62x39 is that people buy the cheapest rifle they find, put the cheapest ammo they can buy, then bitch when it doesn't group consistently...

Terminal ballistics has little to do with "punching power" and is more based on accuracy, velocity, and projectile profile. Knockdown power, stopping power and any term of that ilk is solely perpetrated to sell snake oil. Hit them where they need to be hit, enough times so they don't get back up.

I have no problems tagging steel at 250 with my Draco, It still puts dents in the steel, so there's not too much velocity lost. As far as numbers, I have no idea, but it will go out there just as well as a full length AK.
