I killed my first turkey in 1987 and haven't cut em any slack since. Regretfully after many years of service and repairs it's time for a new vest. Any suggestions from the crowd? Got one you like, tell me why. Dislike, why. If my next one lasts me 28 years I may not need another lol. (I can just use the basket on my hoverround to carry my gear at that point) On a related subject, thinking of putting a red dot of some kind on my trusty turkey gun. Input?

Last kid will soon be out of school, therefore no school needs issue. I will be traveling and working from home much of the time but corporate office is near Wolfchase/Fletcher creek area. Would prefer some acreage(around 25) but be reasonably close to to some form of shopping etc and under an hour to the office area.

I am happily residing and working in middle TN. I have been approached by my company to possibly relocate to west TN. My experiences in the Memphis area have been less than heartwarming (no offense to any locals). My wife and I are mulling over the idea of the possibility of a move. What area would a outdoor loving, hunter gatherer type family begin their search for a country home within about 45 minutes of the Wolfchase area of Memphis? Any definite no no's? I certainly want to stay on the east side of the city, we will most likely be traveling back to middle TN on a semi regular basis. I begin my search for advice here where I am but a anonymous handle to all but a few. Not the time to be discussing openly among co workers etc.

2014 Off Season Support Group Deer Season Thread
Deerbnb replied to Slappy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Had a pretty eventful gun opener. Could hear 2 bucks fighting in the distance before light enough to see well. Few minutes later sticks breaking and grunting from that general direction. I made a few grunt calls and ole Sporty here made an appearance. Out of the stand early Saturday, stayed warm and slept in Sunday. Be back at it next week though. Good luck to all and be safe! -
The last gun I loaned was a Browning A bolt stainless .270. It came back in perfect shape. I opened the hard case to check it out and return it to my safe and was more than a little surprised when I found a round chambered and the safety off. SMH, I have loaned my last gun also. (FYI don't ask for a chainsaw either) I will however loan out my kids, cars, tools etc. I'm "funny" like that as my wife likes to say. Found out she funny too when someone asked to borrow a book from her recently LOL.

Great thing to do with your kids (or somebody else's) I have had the pleasure to witness a fair number of kids take their first bird. Nothing like it. I have to agree with OP greatest time to get the kids in the woods for lots of reasons.

What's the tightest choke for Mossberg 500 12 gauge?
Deerbnb replied to roverboy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I am not sure what the measurements are but I can say with absolute certainty that at about 18-20 feet my Mossberg with an "undertaker" choke tube makes it very easy to miss cleanly. I need a do-over from this morning. Rookie mistake after 27 years chasing turkeys. -

Finally, despite the current problems with getting pieces and parts. I have completed my first build. A bit on the simple side but already have plans for an add or two to it. Had to let a few fly out back upon completion last week just to make sure of feed and fire. Got a real trip to the range this weekend and functions superbly. Tickled  ! modern musket by deerbnb, on Flickr the OTHER new addition is Lakeview's AXEL vom Dawson pictured at 13 weeks old at an even 33 lbs. We have had the pleasure of being his human family since he was 7 weeks old. He is now ringing the sleigh bells on the front door when he needs a :poop: trip outside :x: .

i got a lower "build kit" from PSA that finally arrived this week. It was the one with the ACS-L stock. I was a bit peaved that they dinged my card for payment and then didn't actually ship for almost 3 weeks. But oh well. Done now, Shot my build today at the range, that seems to have made me forget all about the wait LOL.

what few times I have been pulled over since I recieved my HCP I've handed my permit with my DL and never had anything other than a brief gun chat and been sent on my way. Once I couldn't seem to find my current insurance proof so our gun chat was a bit prolonged. After tearing every scrap of paper out of my glovebox and console he told me I was gonna be late for sunrise I should get a move on. (was speeding towards a deer stand in KY) No ticket just a deer hunting strategy session along with our gun chat that time.

The OP is on to something. I picked up 3 boxes of 9mm at the Dickerson rd WW in Nashville last week. LOL -
My wife has a Bodyguard .38 and I a Bodyguard .380 we both have hign Noon IWB holsters. I carry mine more in a pocket holster but I sometimes use the IWB and we both like them. They are very reasonably priced and high noon ships quickly.
