  1. "I know some people don't like to say, but I personally always think it is the best policy to make it known you are a HCP holder and you are armed during a traffic stop. My experience has been that they are much friendlier/lenient if they know you have your HCP" I agree. Yes, if LEO asks for your HCP, you must present it. Yes, if LEO asks you to exit the vehicle, you must do so. Yes, if LEO asks for your handgun DON'T reach for it, but rather let LEO know where it is and invite him or her to secure it themselves. Yes, LEO can disarm you for the duration of the traffic stop. I'd recommend being super polite and Mr. Agreeable should this occur, unless LEO really gets outrageous in their demeanor, language, or conduct. And always, always keep your hands in plain view of LEO. If anything is said or done by LEO that you don't feel right about, ask for a Supervisor to come to the scene.
  2. I was on the Cain Train, but we see how that worked out......... I guess now I will hold my nose and vote for Romney, not because I'm crazy about him, but because I think he has the best shot at unseating President Obama. Newt is probably the smartest guy in the room, but he comes off like he is and he knows it, and turns a lot of people off. Also, while he would probably shred Obama in the debates, he would look like, just as Michael Savage said "an old, fat, white guy". That would be advantage Obama in the popularity contests that we now call elections.
  3. Take him to the vet. If he can't get better, don't let him linger in pain to make it easier on you. I am a dog guy, so I know it's the hardest thing ever, but do right by him.
  4. best of luck, sigbrown. After I was suddenly unemployed last year, I have new empathy for those looking for work.
  5. A fake reality show....I sorta dig the wife, though.

  7. After his "Meet The Press" appearance today, I decided I'm a Cain man. Been looking at him for a while, today clinched it. Even sent him a few bucks.
  8. Don't you think the race card was pulled first by the Perry family's name for their hunting retreat?
  9. The POTUS considered resigning? I had not heard that anywhere before..........
  10. Google Leroy Farris. He's an NRA TC in the Murfreesboro/Brentwood area.
  11. Pretty, but not entirely, sure that it retains the original expiration date. They don't beat you out of that six months.
  12. Attention all TGO'ers, please be advised that JeffL is THE MAN. Thanks guy......I owe you a beer. Thank you as well, pfries.
  13. So recently, a virus (I'm guessing) attacked my computer, and I lost everything - wallpaper, desktop icons, photos, documents, everything. No, I didn't have anything backed up . I ran a system restore, and got some functionality back, including my wallpaper photo, and the desktop icons I had pre-crash. What I needed most, I didn't get back - pictures and documents. Are these gone forever? Is there anything I can do (or a computer guru if need be) to get these back? I appreciate any help, but as you frame your answers, bear in mind that I am about a 4 on 1-10 scale of computer smartness, so reply accordingly...........
  14. "Principles of Personal Defense" is the primer. I consider it a must-read, and the foundation for all subsequent defensive/tactical mindset study.
  15. I have 2 new ones.......... a) the jingle from the Nahon Law Firm commercials and the creepy commercials from Nossi College of Art but especially the super creepy music. My dog starts barking at the TV when the creepy music starts.
  16. Open carry and concealed carry are both legal, but concealed is not required as in some states. Tennessee issues a "Handgun Carry Permit". These items really should have been covered in your course.
  17. I hope he told you guys that Tennessee doesn't issue a "concealed" or "CCW" permit.......
  18. I have a CTA fare card that expires Sepetmber 1st. It still has some usage on it, and we won't be going back before it expires. I have no idea how much $$$ is left on the card, but you've got nothing to lose. I'll give it to you if you're heading to The Windy City in the next 3 weeks. PM me if you're interested.
  19. I haven't read all these replies, and I'm too tired to do so right now. But, my opinion is that yes, absolutely, property owners should be able to exercise their rights to post no guns on their property. We all scream for our 2nd Amendment rights to be preserved, but many of us are willing to crap on the rights of property owners. It boils down to this: If I own and operate BigPoppa's Farm Supply, Auto Parts, and Dry Goods Emporium, I should have the right to post my property no guns allowed. You, the consumer, then have the right to spend your money elsewhere. Seems to me that's The American Way.
  20. Welcome aboard. First of all, Tennessee doesn't issue a "concealed" permit. It's a Handgun Carry Permit. Open carry is legal in Tennessee, but I and many others on here would advise that it's a bad idea. Your Tennessee HCP is among the most widely accepted/recognized carry credentials in the U.S., covering you in 34 or so states. You can check out www.handgunlaw.us for a 50 state map tool and more information. If you want to, after you get your Tennessee HCP, you can apply for a number of non-resident permits from other states. For example, I hold non-resident credentials from New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.
