  1. and "don't go" doesn't count Me and the Missus were kicking around the idea of a quick 2 or 3 day trip to Chicago to catch a couple of Reds games just before the 4th. We've never been to Chicago, other than flying into and out of O'Hare. Here's my questions...... 1) Other than Navy Pier and the Sears (used to be) Tower, what else falls into the "While you're in town, do not miss ____________________" category ? and 2) Hotel recommendations ? Near Wrigley if possible.
  2. Did I just stumble into the "BP Admiration / Oil Spill Love Society" meeting ? Seriously. Who gives a rat's a$$ if BP were to suspend business in the United States ? There are plenty of other energy companies, safer and more environmentally aware, to do business with. Imagine the financial hit BP would take if it did that. Who cares ? Good riddance. BP rack jobbers are already counting the days until their contract expires with BP, so they can sign with other oil companies. They're going to skim what usable oil they can off the surface of the Gulf of Mexico, and then sell it back to us at inflated prices. Yeah....what a bunch of sweethearts. They made nearly $ 30 Billion (that's with a "B") in profits last year alone, yet were so keen to save money and cut corners, they declined to put on a $ 500,000 blowout backup on the Mississippi Canyon rig that would have prevented all of this. This on top of the at least 26 deaths and 200 injuries to workers and sub-contractors since 2005. I'll conclude with mentioning BP's 767 OSHA and EPA violations and citations since 2000. Contrast that with Conoco (8) and Exxon/Mobil (1). Sooooo.................yeah........tears on my pillow for BP ? Nope. Hayward and the Swedish guy should be in Louisiana every day until Christmas cleaning oiled birds and packing sandbags.
  3. And the same thing could be said of Caucasian, African-American, Asian, etc. buyers.
  4. OhShoot is correct.............Hi Point handguns are the ugliest made. They all look like cordless drills.
  5. Agreed. Major suckage. I hate it.
  6. ....................I'm letting this one go........it's killing me, but I'm letting it go.
  7. I've got the "real" passport and the card. Was just a few bucks extra.
  8. I just started watching it a couple of weeks ago........that's some funny
  9. MLB - Cincinnati Reds NFL - I take an occasional passing interest in the Titans, and I rooted for the Bengals after last years' "Hard Knocks" College Football - Tennessee and I'll piggyback on the "Whoever is playing Florida" NASCAR - Tony Stewart # 14 NBA/NHL/College Hoops - Basically disinterested
  10. From www.supremecourt.gov Text of the Oaths of Office for Supreme Court Justices
  11. This sounds good, I guess, but how would you acomplish it ? Each Justice is going to bring their lifelong, inherent religious beliefs (or lack of them) to the Court. Morals and ethics are a basic part of religion, and they should also be a part of the legal system. SCOTUS every term hears cases involving freedom of religion issues (some would say freedom from religion issues). Issues such as death penalty appeals and abortion cases, while not religious in nature on their face, will certainly reflect the religious values of the plaintiffs, defendants, attorneys, and the Justices. The very building these cases are heard in contains images of Moses, Solomon, and Muhammad. The oath of office for a SCOTUS Justice ends in "so help me, God." So "keep religion out of SCOTUS" may make a nice talking point, but in practical terms, how do you do it ?
  12. I didn't realize this......Justice Stevens is the only sitting Protestant Justice. The balance includes 6 Catholics, and 2 Jews. If Kagan is confirmed - 6 Catholic, 3 Jewish, 0 Protestant. I'm not saying this is good or bad, just (to me) unusual in a majority-Protestant country. Kagan, Judaism and the Bible: 'Justice, justice shall you pursue' - Faith & Reason
  13. Well, I take it quite seriously and I know other schools/instructors who do also. Besides it being important to me to give people their money's worth, I'd also not like to have my school shut down and all of the training certificates I have issued revoked. I think my students and alumni might feel the same way. So, hence why it chaps my ass when these other schools run a 3-4 hour, half-ass, take the money and run course. But hey, whatever works for you..........
  14. Biblical flooding in Tennessee, a nightmare oil spill growing unchecked in the Gulf of Mexico, a car bomb in Times Square, 2 million people in Boston without drinking water...................... I guess it can only get better from here, huh ? God bless everybody affected by the flooding and pray for the Gulf
  15. Check us out. And we have a class Saturday, if you want to take a road trip
  16. Training/certification is required by TCA to legally carry an expandable baton. 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. — (a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was: ; (9) By any person possessing a club or baton who holds a certificate that the person has had training in the use of a club or baton for self-defense that is valid and issued by a certified person authorized to give training in the use of clubs or batons, and is not prohibited from purchasing a firearm under any local, state or federal laws;
  17. 'This is Alabama; we speak English,' governor candidate says Having spent a fair amount of time in Alabama, I can vouch that they do speak a form of English there.
  18. Our general advice is something very close to this: "I was in fear for my life, and fired my gun in order to address that threat. I am happy to cooperate and give a statement, but first I would like to be examined by a doctor, and have an opportunity to speak with my attorney."
  19. And, the election was last week. He lost. All the incumbents except Mr. Edwards were returned to office.
  20. Re: the preceding pictures........ I often get calls and e-mails asking if we offer a knife defense course. I say "Yes, we do....it's called the Handgun Carry Permit course."
