  1. Makes one wish Paul Harvey was still alive so we could hear "the Rest of the Story."
  2. I don't know how ya'll hold your guns in Europe, but here in Tennessee, we have not had any problems, especially not any like you described. Over 50 shooters have put a couple thousand rounds through three different Caracals I have taken to the range without a hitch. If anybody wants to hold one, put some rounds through one, and have a chance at winning one in a random drawing, come out and shoot the ORSA Toys for Tots match this Saturday, 6 Nov. $30 and a new toy gives you 7 great stages to shoot, including one that will have Caracal as a prop gun, free lunch, prize table, and a chance to win one of three guns to be given away.
  3. Keep your Saturday, 6 November free. We will be hosting our 4th annual Toys for Tots pistol match at ORSA. For $30 and a new toy you get shoot 7 fun stages, a free lunch, a goody bag, and a chance to win one of three guns along with other prizes. For more information, go to orsaidpa.com and click on the link. Don't miss it!
  4. Once again, its going to be a beautiful day for a match this Saturday. Come on down and make some noise, smoke and holes.
  5. Come on out for a lot of fun trigger time. Five very good to great stages. Get some relevant practice in before the TN State USPSA match. Bring at least 150 rounds (and that's if you don't miss). It will be challenging and fun.
  6. Got 5 great stages, should be beautiful weather, come on out and make holes and some noise! We start shooting at 1000. Go to ORSAAP.com for details.
  7. Oak Ridge Sportsman Association Action Pistol Range. Go to ORSAAP.com for more info and directions. Clownsdd, unfortunately we about 360 miles east of you.
  8. ORSA's monthly USPSA match is tomorrow. Will have 5 very good to great stages. Come and join the shooting.
  9. As BigJ said, a lot of info can be found at orsaap.com Cost for the USPSA, IDPA, and 3-gun matches is $15 if you are not an ORSA member, $10 if you are a member. USPSA is shot on the 3rd Saturday of the month, IDPA on the 1st Saturday. Come on out and try it!
  10. Depends on what you want it for, of course. If you are just looking for a fun to shoot 22, either one is fine. However, if you want something to mimic your AR, something that you can practice with without shooting expensive ammo, and if you want to put on some aftermarket modifications (refined trigger, ambi safety/mag release, etc.) go with the SW.
  11. Save some gas, shoot more bullets, have more fun - shoot USPSA tomorrow in Oak Ridge!
  12. Just come on out to ORSA tomorrow and shoot the USPSA match. They should be there. You are welcome to come out and just watch, but thats no fun.
  13. Finally, a warm and sunny Saturday, so come on out and shoot. Match starts at 10.
  14. You don't need both, only a chamber flag or a bag (though you could use both if you desire). Right now the plan is to shoot exactly the standard COFs that the pistol shooters use. The distances are about 10 yards to 40 yards, though the targets for the long shot are rectangles about 18 inches by 24 inches. Go to steelchallenge.com for rules and stage design.
  15. A chamber flag is an indicator that is placed into the chamber through the open bolt with the "flag" extending to the exterior of the rifle. That way it is easily discernible that there is not a bullet in the chamber. A "Bag" is simply any gun bag/sheath that the rifle can fit into. Once the gun is cleared by the RO, the shooter places it into the bag. The gun is only to be removed from the bag under the ROs direction (or in the designated safety areas). The steel challenge matches are shot the 4th Saturday of every month, and rimfire rifles will shoot concurrently with the pistol shooters. There will be 2 divisions, one for rimfire rifles with optics (RRO) and one for rimfire rifles without optics (iron sights - RRS)
  16. If you live in Cookeville area, you should just join ORSA. It would be only slightly more than an hour drive; high power range is 1000 yards, bench rest range is 200 yards.
  17. The answer is yes, we have had to change it from the date it was originally planned (30 Jan) but have not yet finalized the date. We MAY go with 27 Feb, but that has not yet been confirmed. Will make the announcement as soon as it is confirmed.
  18. It is at the Oak Ridge Sportsman Association Action Pistol Range. Go to ORSAAP.com for directions. We shoot something there every weekend. Come check it out.
  19. I hope you like it but if you are expecting a 1911 trigger, you will be disappointed. I have several Sigs. I have a 226ST that Bruce Gray did his magic on - it is wonderful. very smooth and relatively "light" double action, very short reset, and crisp single action (but not a 1911). I have but 9000+ rounds through in the past 3 years. On the other hand, I have another 226, an older one that I shoot alot in the 90's that needed its 20,000 round check up. Prior to meeting Bruce, I sent that an older 226 into Sig and requested their AEP (this was prior to their SRT package). Frankly I was dissappointed with the new improved double action pull - it was smooth but still very heavy. From now on, only Gray Guns will work on my Sigs.
  20. If you were not there, you missed a lot of fun, good friends, good weather, a chance at 3 guns, and some great and challenging stages. Put it on your calendar for next year - the first Saturday in November - the ORSA Toys for Tots match!
  21. We love to have the shock and awe factor when you come and shoot this match. (Also we have several stage designers who do not get a formal description written up in time to get it up on the website) We all know the excitement and aniticipation of the unknown makes things better.
  22. The beautiful forecast is holding true. The seven stages look great - come and join the fun for a great cause.
  23. Match day forecast calls for 66 degrees and sunshine. Should be a great day - come on out and join us.
  24. + 1000 to what he said. Now - back to the reason for this thread - entice people to come and shoot a fun match for a great cause. Reasons: 1. A chance to shoot fun stages 2. A chance to support a great cause 3. A chance to go to a prize table that will have firearms 4. Free lunch included in the relatively low-priced entry fee There are more reasons, such as harassing your friends, avoiding watching your favorite football team lose, avoiding putting up Thanksgiving decorations, etc. The BOTTOM LINE, COME OUT AND SHOOT.
  25. Mark you calendars. ORSA's third annual Toys for Tots match will be held 7 November (the first Saturday of the Month). For the very small fee of $30 and a new toy that will be collected by the Marines, you get to shoot a great match with 7 fun stages and a trip to the prize table. Last year we gave out 3 guns based on the Lewis system, so everybody has a chance to get a very nice prize. More info will be up on the orsaidpa.com or orsaap.com in the very near future.
