  7. Anyone is welcome to come and watch at no cost - just bring your eyes and ear protection. However, you are going to wish you brought your shootin' gear so you could join in the fun. We take good care of first time shooters.

  11. The stages are up and they will be fun. Bring lots of ammo. Round count is in 140-150 range. Also, the Weather forecast looks good. Cloudy, upper 60's,
  12. The APRIL USPSA match at ORSA is this Saturday - 21 April. The Stage Descriptions are up for viewing at ORSAAP.com (click on the USPSA logo). It is a Rollin Stones appreciation match with 6 Stages! Guaranteed to be fun, even if you can't get no Satisfaction.

  14. As GD stated, orsaidpa.com has most of your answers. Also check out orsaap.com to check out the other action pistol activities happening at ORSA. I also highly recommend you try out the USPSA matches - also a lot of fun and trigger time. Cost for the matches - $10 for ORSA members, $15 for non members. You can sign up at the range on match day or, for the IDPA match, you can pre- register at ORSAIDPA.com. Be at the range by 930 for registration and new shooter orientation/meeting. Both IDPA and USPSA matches are great games (only) making holes in cardboard targets. However, it does give you a chance to practice and hone your handgun handling skills while under the clock (drawing, reloading, strong and weak hand shooting) and there is an adrenalin rush when the timer goes off and you are trying to get a good score/beat your buddies. It is addictive. By all means come on out and have some fun. Look forward to seeing you at the range.
  15. Go to steelchallenge.com for rules and details. It is great practice. Each stage has an array of 5 plates. Shoot them as fast as you can. You do each stage 5 times and throw out your slowest time. Plan on shooting 150-200 rounds. I shoot a 22 and its a lot of fun. You can also shoot pistol caliber carbines/rifles if you want.
  16. You are more than welcome to come out and watch (though its a lot more fun to shoot). Please bring eye and ear protection for everybody (though if you don't have enought sets, we can loan you some). We start shooting about 10, finish about 1:30 or so. Please check our website (orsaap.com or orsaidpa.com for directions to the action pistol range at ORSA. Look forward to seeing you at the range.
  17. This Saturday is going to be a perfect day for USPSA. Sunny, mid-50's, it does not get any better than this in Feb. Also, too early to be doing yard work or working in the garden. Come on out and have some fun. The stages are posted at ORSAAP.com, click on the USPSA logo and follow the links.
  18. We are shooting USPSA this Saturday (18 Feb) at ORSA. Bring your G34, 4 or more mags, 200 rounds, and be prepared to have a lot of fun. I'll bring an extra holster that will work for your 34 (though won't be the fanciest holster) and a couple mag pouches. You will soon be addicted!!
  19. Not separate matches but separate divisions. Often you can shoot your pistol on a stage, then at it again with your pistol caliber rifle. Two mags work but 3 is better and 5 is ideal, especially for a pistol.
  20. Come out to ORSA (Oak Ridge Sportsman Association) this Saturday, 28 January, and shoot steel challenge. You need to be at the range by 0930, and you should be finished by 1. It is great competition with a .22, and you can shoot both your pistol and either your 10/22 or your AR in the same match if you choose to. Bring about 200 rounds per gun to be safe. We shoot steel challenge on the 4th Saturday of each month. Go to ORSAAP.com for more information; also click on the Steel Challenge logo. It is a lot of fun and very good practice. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
  21. Keep that New Years resolutions and come out and shoot USPSA. Weather is going to be pretty good considering it is January. Have 5 fun stages (OK - 4 fun stages and the classifier). You can start gaming the stages by going to orsaap.com and click on the uspsa logo/link, there is a button for the stages. Hope to see you at the range.
  22. Come on out to our Christmas USPSA Match. Enjoy such stages as "On Dasher" "Deck the Halls" "You Better Watch Out" and "Chestnuts Roasting" Fun will be had by one and all. Check ORSAAP.com for details and directions. Look forward to seeing you at the range!
  23. Hey Murg- back to your question - we are shooting USPSA this Saturday (the 17th) at ORSA. Bring your G19, a holster (though I may have one laying around if you need to borrow one) 2 mag pouches, 4 mags, and 150-200 rounds of 9mm out to the range. You will be equipped just fine. The weather is going to be great and you will be smiling all day long. WARNING-it is addictive.
  24. Just come on out to ORSA. Non-members are welcome, but if you like shooting, you will be very tempted to join. It is a great facility with very low annual dues. USPSA is similar to IDPA, but with more fun/targets/shooting, plus USPSA has fewer.....a....uh......restrictive rules. We shoot USPSA on the 3rd Saturday of the month at ORSA. Come on out on the 17th and join the fun. However regarding the "ramboish unrealistic scenerios" in IDPA, it is a game, everybody knows it is a game with cardboard targets; I don't want to shoot just 2 to 4 shots everytime at 1 or 2 targets in a "realistic stage," I want to shoot a bunch of ammo at a mob of cardboard targets.
  25. Yes, come on out to ORSA and join the fun. You can get some details at orsaap.com (click on the various logos for more info). We will be shooting USPSA on Dec 17 (always on the 3rd Saturday of the month). We always welcome new shooters - typically there will be 1-5 new shooters each month. Bring your 9 mm or larger handgun ( I recommend a semi-auto), a holster, 4 or 5 mags, and mag pouches, and about 150-200 rounds of ammo. Please show up at 9:30 for the match. Cost is $15 for non-ORSA members. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. We also shoot IDPA on the first Saturday, Cowboys shoot on the 2nd Saturday, and Steel Challenge shoots on 4th Saturday (though no match in Dec).
