  1. Come join us, you will have a lot of fun, regardless of your skill level. We do welcome new shooters and please do not hesitate to ask questions. I concur with the previous comments, once you start IPSC or ISPA shooting, just shooting static paper will become boring.
  2. Should have posted this sooner but congratulations to BigJ45 on winning the SSP Division Championship. Well done!
  3. Announcing the first annual "ORSA 250," to be held 18 July. This will be a high round count Single Stack and Production USPSA match. There will be 7 stages, lots of targets, and guaranteed to be lots of fun. $35 entry fee, cash pay-back awards. Go to orsaap.com for the registration form. Note - the title for the previous thread regarding this match indicated the date was 18 June, that was wrong - it is 18 July!

  5. CAS- You don't have to be a member of ORSA to shoot the match - and you are old enough to shoot IDPA ( minimum age is 12 as per the IDPA rule book).
  6. Hey, I enjoyed being labelled a pro. I did get scouted by the Dodgers, and I do break par once in a great while, but I only pass for a pro shooter if you don't look at the targets.
  7. First Place Gold - Springfield XD that got swapped out for a Smith & Wesson MP First Place Silver (8th overall) - Keltec pistol First Place Bronze (16th overall) - Mossberg Shotgun Lots of fun, fairly efficient without a lot of waiting around, don't miss it next time.
  8. Stages are set, round count will be right at a 100 for the 6 stages. Gunny is setting up the prize table - looks like it will include at least one 1911, shotguns, and some other firearms.
  9. I don't think there would be a problem with that. Come on down!
  10. Numbers I'm hearing indicate 40+ shooters, but I anticipate an additional 10-15 shooters (or more) will show up.
  11. Next match is this weekend - on 18 Jan. checkout http://www.orsamultigun.com for details.
  12. My first competitive shooting was done at the Guncraft matches back in the early 90's. Always did enjoy those matches. There is a difference at Gunnys indoor range compared to the Guncraft matches. At Gunnys concrete walls divide the range into 3 separate bays. Therefore we will be able to run each stage independently of the other other stages. We can also create somewhat more interesting stages using wooden walls and curtains to create hallways and rooms.
  13. I am trying to get the word out to as many as possible, so yes, you will see it on some other forums. I would appreciate any suggestions on where else to post the information. TIA.
  14. Note- pre-registration not necessary, but it will insure you have a slot in the 60-man field.
  15. Linoge- for this match you will not be limited to the number of magazines on your belt. Looking at your mags, (8,7,6 rounders) with one in the chamber, you would be carrying 22 rounds. That will probably be the max for any one stage, plus I imagine someone will loan you an extra mag when it's your turn. While everybody needs more guns, all you really need for this match is one more magazine. Come on join the fun.

  17. Actually Gunnys has a match every Thursday night starting at 7 pm. $15 entry fee. $50 first place, $25 second place. The type of match varies from bowling pin match, .22 match, to hybrid tactical matches. The hybrid matches are held on the second Thursday of the month.
  18. This is an early heads-up/mark your calendar announcement. Gunny's Indoor Range in Maryville Tennessee will be hosting a 6 stage indoor pistol match on Saturday, 31 January 2009. It will be a "hybrid" match - IPSC rules (generally) and IDPA scoring. Lewis scoring and first place prizes will be awarded to Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions. $60 entry fee - $3500 prize table. More rules to follow or pm me for particulars.
  19. Should be great weather next Saturday for the match - mid 50's and sunny. Looking forward to a big turnout and a fun match.
  20. I will be there. Also, don't forget the Toys for Tots match on November 22. Should be a fun match will a very nice prize table.
  21. The 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Charity Shoot will be held 22 November - the Saturday before Thanksgiving at ORSA. This will be a great match with 7 stages and a great prize table including firearms. It will be a "hybrid" match using IDPA targets and scoring with USPSA rules. Last years match was a lot of fun and this one will be even better. Cost is $30 and one new toy. This includes lunch. Limited to the first 84 shooters. Go to ORSAIDPA.com for more information.
  22. You need to come on up. We have been having some great stages this year.
  23. If you like the IDPA matches, you need to come out on the third Saturday of the month and shoot an IPSC match. You get to shoot more rounds, move a little more, and have more fun.
  24. I just received a Barsto barrel in 9mm for my 229. Fortunately, mine fit perfectly without any handfitting being necessary. If it does not fit, you can send your barrel and slide (only) back to BarSto and they will properly fit it for $18, which includes shipping. I would highly recommend having them fit it as I have bought (and returned) two examples of used barrels that had been butchered by the original owners. I got mine from Top Gun Supply. They just got some in stock - don't know how long until this batch is gone. Cost-$200.
  25. Come on out and shoot an IPDA or IPSC match (no membership required). Talk to some of the members, I'm sure somebody will offer to sponsor you. It is a great facility, it has to be one to the top ten accessible ranges in the Eastern US, especially when you consider the low cost.
