In my relationship, I am the gun nut and my husband has no interest in them whatsoever. I grew up in a shooting/hunting family, shooting since the age of 4, and was given my own bedside gun when I was 11. The arrangement my hubby and I have is that whenever I get to spend money on guns or gun stuff, he gets to spend equal money on his truck project. :)

It's sounding like the NRA is pushing for armed security of some sort at all schools to protect our kids.

It is not user error. I can't even do it on my desktop pc, and I'm a moderator. I can however, do it on my tablet. Something very strange is going on with this it seems.

I want a good LED Headlight that takes 2 AA batteries. Everything I've found takes three AAA's, which I hate. Any recomendations?

Best answer imo. You are missing a .22 and since you like the Sig 556, I'd get a Sig 522. It has the same folding stock and basically looks just like your 556.

I made my decision. I'm going to get the Sig 522 with the quadrail. I've been doing quite a bit of reading on the Sig and the M&P and every side by side comparison I've seen puts the Sig on top. The trigger is supposed to be much better and the overall quality (they say) is better. And the fact that I already have a dozen Black Dog .22 mags that will work in the Sig is the icing on top of the cake for me.

Hahaha I love the story! The Kimber is very pretty....actually very very close in looks to the EMP. The only differences I can see, without getting out my EMP to compare, is the Kimber has front strap checkering (the EMP does not and I've always kinda wished it did) and the grip safety on the Kimber is stainless (the EMP is black, which results in tiny little scratches where the safety rubs as it enters the frame), and the ambi safety lever is stainless (EMP is black). The EMP comes with Trijicon night sights (which are awesome!) and, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Kimbers that I've seen usually have plain old black sights (that seem to me to be very hard to see). I personally have to give the first prize in pretty to the EMP though.....mainly because of the beautiful cocobolo grips with the crossed cannons. So, in all honesty, the Kimber does seem to have a couple things going for it that the EMP could use (front strap checkering and stainless grip safety), but the EMP has a couple things over the Kimber (Trijicon sights and prettier grips). However, the Kimber could easily be fitted with your choice of night sights, and the grips could be changed out to some really nice custom grips. The EMP has a bull barrel that is incredibly accurate for a 3" barrel.....I'm not sure what the Kimber has in that department, but I would love to see how the two of them shoot in a side by side comparison. The EMP also has an amazing trigger, again not sure about the Kimber since I've never shot one. Does this comparison make it easier for you to choose? Probably not. I'd say it boils down to whichever one makes your heart go pitter patter the most. Remember, half the fun is shopping around and making your choice!

I have a 9mm EMP. It is by far the nicest handgun I've ever had the pleasure of shooting. It is crazy accurate, especially for a 3" barrel! I've never had any experience with Kimber, but I will say that if you go with the EMP, you will forget about the Kimber.

glowdotGlock and scoutfsu, we've heard your opinions, now lets let others have a turn.

My local Walmart just happened to have an M&P15-22, a Sig 522, and a Colt Umarex in stock today. The Colt might be made of "pot" metal, but I did like the look and feel of it nonetheless. The Sig was heavy, but seems like a well made gun to me, and I really liked the ring style sights on it too. The M&P is very nice, but I just don't like the polymer. I can handle polymer on a pistol, but I just don't like it on a rifle for some reason. After comparing the three I have decided that.......I still don't know which one I should buy!!!

Use whatever you want to. Just make sure that you are familiar with the gun and how it shoots, feels, and functions (loading, unloading, safety, slide lock, trigger, and even how to clear a jam.) You don't want to shoot the course with a completely unfamiliar gun.

Well, after some thought and research, and hearing what you guys have to say, I've decided that I should get the S&W. Even though it pains me to have to buy yet another different kind of .22 magazines! I guess I'll have to put one on layaway....since I'm spending my current gun money on a .357 snubby in the morning!

I think I like the M&P the best from what I've seen and heard (especially the Magpul one), but the fact that it needs different mags is an issue for me. I already have 12 steel lipped Black Dog mags. If I do go with the M&P, it's going to cost me an extra $100+ just to get four mags, which for me is not enough.....I would want more like 8-12! LOL Plus I found a new Sig 522 for $429, and it comes with an extra 20" match grade barrel. I could keep my cost under $500 with the Sig and have a dozen mags for it. However....I really like the M&P......

Could I use the same Black Dog 25 rd. mags in the S&W MP15 22 that I use in my CMMG AR15 .22? Or is it special mags made just for the M&P?
