  1. Wow, a boxer with Schutzhund 3 (SchH3) training! All my boxers ever knew how do do to someone was lick them to death! As for the situation that was posted.....I'm a woman, so I couldn't do the beat-down thing that you guys can do. Personally, I think I would have my mace in one hand and my gun in the other......I would mace him and if he came at me after that, I'd use my gun. Of course, being a woman, we can "be in reasonable fear of our lives" a lot easier than a man can be. A man's bare hands can be a "lethal weapon" against a woman. So even though we are at a physical disadvantage against an attacker, we have certain other advantages that can work for us if we have to use lethal force.

    S&W Sigma .40VE

I had one of the same guns and I really liked it. I don't think you could do any better for what they cost, and NO better for what you paid! Heck, even if it happens that you don't like it.....you can make $100 with your eyes closed! You did GREAT!!!
  3. Things have been pretty slow with the girls around here it seems. I figure with the kids out of school and home more, many of the women that were posting just don't have the time right now. I'm still here though! I haven't been shooting too much lately......I don't want to shoot up my reserve supply of ammo and it's still difficult to find any at Walmart. So you want a .45 hmmm? I shoot .40 myself.....seems to be a good compromise between 9mm and .45 IMO. If you like Glocks, you might want to check out the G36.....it's a sub-compact single stack .45. Since it's a single stack, the grip is much slimmer and easier to wrap your hand around. I've heard nothing but good about the XD line too. Be sure to let us know what you decide on.......pics and a range report would be awesome too!
  4. I'm not a fan and have only seen bits and pieces as I flip through the channels.......but this one part I saw always makes me laugh when I think about it. Jon & Kate were packing their bags getting ready to go on vacation......you see the camera pan the suitcases laying on the bed and there must have been like a dozen bottles of childrens Benadryl in there!!!!! For those of you that might not know (i.e. don't have kids)........one of Benadryl's wonderful side effects is DEEP SLEEP x8 :censored:
  5. PM sent on 30-30 brass.

    EMP??

I agree with Magic. I'm sure a lot of people buy them new and because of all the initial malfunctions, they think they've bought a lemon and decide to sell. I'd keep a close eye on GunBroker.

    EMP??

I bought mine brand new and had those same problems....shells hitting me in the head and all. I had to run 300 rounds through it before it started running prefectly with no issues. It's absoutely perfect now.....and unbelievably accurate for such a small gun! At 10 yards, I can make one big hole in the bullseye after shooting 5 mags full. I really think that this gun is just made to such tight tolerances that it takes a good break-in period before they smooth out. While I was breaking mine in, I used a lot of Rem Oil on the slide grooves (I was told to do this by the gun shop guy where I got it from) and I also ran a bore snake through the barrel after every three mags shot. For a couple days, at night while I watched tv, I would sit and rack the slide back and forth. This is one sweet little gun! I love mine and I'm very happy that I was patient enough to make it through the break-in! Here's a picture of mine with custom grips made by Esmeralda: BTW, Anyone that has one or is thinking of purchasing one.......Springfield Armory says it is definitely NOT recommended to shoot +P ammo out of these. It's not so much that the gun couldn't handle the hot loads, it's mainly because of the short cycle of the slide.....+P loads can cause malfunctions. This comes straight from the technician I spoke to at Springfield.
  8. Yep, sure taught me a lesson (THE HARD WAY) that I'll never forget. Walmart security did release the security tapes to the detective working on the case. I was parked right up front in a handicapped parking place right in front of one of the doors. The car the thieves were driving pulled up behind me and their rear end was facing the store (and the cameras). The detective let me see the tapes and the quality of the video is so poor that you couldn't even tell what kind of car it was, much less read the license plate number. Now, I do have to hand it to Lowes though! The theives went to Lowes with my Lowes credit card and bought about $500 worth of stuff. This was in another town, thus another jurisdiction and a different detective. He also let me view the Lowes security tapes to ID the suspects. Lowes has some EXCELLENT video technology! Walmart's video was all fuzzy and black & white....but Lowes video was super sharp and in full color! Lowes tapes everone that walks through their doors and they got a good clear full shot of them as they walked in. They also tape each checkout and had them on tape as they used my card to pay for their stuff. Then, they also tape the parking lot and they had a geat shot of their car and them loading everything they bought into it. So with the Lowes tape they were able to ID the suspects and their car. That's how they got caught. Lowes is pretty cool in my book.....heck, you can even take your dog shopping in there with you! To all the ladies that purse carry or might be thinking about doing so........Please DON'T!!!!
  9. I carried in my purse....until my purse was stolen in the Walmart parking lot as I was double teamed in a distract and grab scam. I lost my $500 Ported Titanium Taurus .38 snubby along with everything else in my purse. I switched from purse carry to either a belly band or fanny pack. I can't say enough good about belly bands for comfort, versatility and concealability. Fanny Packs are nice for women too. I can carry my gun, extra mags, flashlight, cell phone, car keys, and my wallet/checkbook.......and I don't even have to carry a purse. Walmart sells a fabric fanny pack for $6 that is absolutely perfect for carrying a gun. There's a large zippered pocket in the rear that will hold a sub compact to compact semi auto along with an extra mag or two easily. Then there's a pocket in front for your wallet and a clip for your car keys....and a hidden pocket in the back next to your body. You can't beat them for the price.
  10. Is Texas Roadhouse going to post? That's a great place to eat.....good food, good prices, nice atmosphere. There's one by East Town Mall...errrr, I mean College Square mall or whatever it's called now.
  11. Have you been on WomenandGuns.com? They don't get a lot of traffic, but there's some good stuff on there.
  12. That's awesome Mousegunner! What era is that photo from I wonder?
  13. I'd like to come and meet some of you guys.....but I'd have to bring my four year old along if I did.....so I believe I'll have to pass on this one. A weekday lunch after school starts would be nice though!
  14. I just traded my '99 Camry for a 2000 Cadillac Sedan Deville. It was a one owner lady driven car that she traded in on a new Caddy. It has 52,000 original miles, 32 valve Northstar V-8, loaded, diamond white, leather, dark tinted windows, absolutely mint condition inside and out, all for $6690!!! She had all the service done at the Cadillac dealer that I got it from, so everything down to the oil changes is documented. I'm so happy I still can't believe what I got for the money! I was even able to purchase a 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty for $465. I haven't taken pictures yet, but I will soon and post them up. I also have a '97 GMC Sierra 1500 for doing my "truck stuff." It's in great shape, only 123,000 miles on it.
  15. Was that the fireworks show that they put off on the barge out in the water (Puget Sound I think?) If so, I've seen that on tv.....but would love to see it in person!
  16. Summer is always really busy for me! Lots of stuff to do around the place. Angel, I hope you have a great vacation! That's one direction I've never traveled so I have no cool places to tell you to check out. I did drive to Seattle about 10 years ago via the northern route (IL, WI, MN, SD, MT, WY, UT, ID, WA).....that was VERY cool! We had a whole month, so we took our time along the way. We visited the town of Roslyn, WA which is where they filmed "Northern Exposure"....my all time favorite series....that was awesome!!! I sat at "The Brick" and drank a beer! Did you guys drive when you went to Seattle?
  17. Congrats SigGrl!!! If I can ever find some free time....maybe I can give you some competition!
  18. Nice collection!!! But if that's the "whole fam damily" then what do you call the AR, mini 14, and all the shotguns? Your inlaws?
  19. Congrats on making the choice to not be a victim DizzieLizzie!! Doesn't it feel good to know you can actually defend yourself if neccessary?! Ladies, please just don't ever take the right to carry for granted....continue to stay active in supporting our second ammendment! Always try to educate and recruit more women into guns and the shooting sports. When more women speak up about our right to keep and bear arms, more lawmakers will listen! The fight doesn't end at the mailbox.....getting that HCP was easy compared to what we're going to need to do to keep it!
  20. I can just hear the teeny boppers talking back in the kitchen after you left......."Man, she must be an undercover cop or something!" "Dude, we better not **** with her!" Well, I'm glad to hear that you educated them about the rights and responsibilities involved with carrying a firearm!
  21. Sure! Just call me the "Belly Band Lady!" Kinda like the "Sham Wow Guy!" LOL
  22. When I first got my Tennessee Gun Permit over 10 years ago, it was a "Concealed Carry Permit." But they changed that at some point to concealed or open carry. Now, like Oh Shoot said, it's called a "Handgun Carry Permit" and we are allowed to Open Carry if we choose to do so. I don't open carry, mainly because I feel that concealed carry gives me a tactical advantage if I were to find myself in a "situation." If the bad guy sees that you have a gun, he's certainly going to change his tactics in a hurry! I do agree that it's a personal choice though.
  23. Cool! I'm glad it worked out for you. I really don't know what I'd do without mine!
  24. Welcome to TGO gunlovingirl!!! You sound a lot like me! Did you have a dad that really wanted a boy too?
  25. Hi Girls! Welcome to you both! I hope ya'll stick around and start posting more! We need more ladies around here!
