Welcome to TGO! You'll probably get just as hooked on this forum as you are on guns

You know, I thought that was a little strange when the lady at the DMV told me that.....It was Morristown and they're usually always pretty confused there I have renewed my HCP before and I thought I remembered them saying that the paperwork they give you will suffice until your new HCP comes in. Oh well.....I got lucky and got mine right before it expired so it didn't matter.

I very recently had to renew my HCP. I did it at the DMV and was given a piece of paper that said I had paid to renew it...basically a receipt.....it also said right on it that it was not to be used as a temporary permit. I asked the lady there "what happens if I don't get my new permit before mine expires?" She told me I wouldn't be able to carry until the new one came in. Luckily my new permit came in the day before my old one expired.

Natosha, I know exactly what you mean about not knowing real love until you had your son I thought I was unable to have children and at 36 I was finally was able to conceive. I think it was all in His greater plan all along As far as being a newbie in the gun world.....better late than never! Just stick around here and you'll learn a bunch and have a good time too!

IMHO most of us non LEO HCP holders never really "expect" anything to happen......but we also realize that the unexpected can and does happen all around us every day.....in big cities, small towns, rural areas, and even in our homes. I believe we should always be prepared for the STHTF no matter where we're at. As for not having a round chambered.....IMO that would be a little too risky in a high stress situation. Just my .02.

Nice Your new CZ should look good next to that one!

Yes, I know what you mean. I posted a thread on here a while back asking how many female members were on the board......I didn't get a big response either. It is surprising that more females don't post. Seems like there are only about 6 or 7 including me, you, and your mom that post regularly. I don't target practice very often to be honest. Which is really a shame since I can literally step out my back door and shoot. It's hard to find time with my three year old son and my elderly mother to take care of. Another big reason is the price of ammo these days....it's just too expensive. When my son gets a little older, I'll be able to take him out with the .22's and teach him how to shoot. I have two .22 rifles but I need to get a .22 pistol in the next couple years too. I'm keeping an eye out for a good used one right now. I'd like to have a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger Mk II maybe. I saw some pics of your family on your mom's webpage.....I can't remember....is Jude your son? He sure is a cutie

Gunslinger, I love my little Taurus. It's the Ultra-Lite model and it only weighs about 17 oz. if I remember correctly. When I carry it, I hardly know it's there. I think they're just as good as the S&W's at about half the price

I got a Saf-T-Blok for my G27 and I really like it. Here's a thread I started on it here....has some pictures of it if you're interested in checking it out: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5295

Don't know anything at all about them.....but it sure is pretty

My vote would be for the Glock 26. You just can't go wrong with that one IMO.

Well, one lady here I carry either a Glock 27, which is the subcompact .40 or sometimes a Taurus .38 snubbie. I carry both guns mostly in a belly band, but occasionally in a fanny pack.

Hi Natosha Welcome to TGO! I hope you enjoy it here as much as your mom and I do!

If it were me, I'd get a Glock 19 to go with your 26. The 19 is Glock's compact 9mm model....the bigger brother to the 26. It has a standard 15 rd. mag capacity....and the magazines will also fit your G26...they just stick out a bit. It only weighs 21 oz. empty and 30 oz. loaded. This is pretty much the same setup I have with my G27 and G23.....except in .40 cal. I really like being able to use my 23 mags in my 27. The compact Glocks are really fun to shoot.....they seem to be a bit more accurate than the sub compacts.....I assume because of the longer barrel length.....and they seem to soak up a little more recoil too. They are also fairly easy to carry.....just a little bit bigger than the subs. Just my .02

Diane, Congrats on the new addition to your family! Was this a surprise for Mark? I bet he's a happy guy right now! The best part is that next it's your turn

Tennessee law -- ammo storage, homeowners insurance
PackinMama replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I was living in a mobile home in '95 and I had two large paper bags of different calibers of ammunition stored in my bedroom closet. My place caught fire in the middle of the night (fire marshall said faulty wiring in the wall).....the smoke alarms woke me up and I got out.....but my trailer went up like a matchbook. All I could hear when I was outside watching my place burn (from a distance) was bullets going off. It sounded like the fourth of July in the middle of December. I lost several great guns (very sentimental ones too ) in that fire along with two dogs.....one of which was the best dog I've ever had. Anyway, the insurance co. paid me the max with no problems and no questions about the ammo. Someone later told me that they could have used that against me because the ammo wasn't "properly" stored in metal cans. I don't know for sure if that person really knew what they were talking about, but I now store all my extra ammo in military ammo cans. Better safe than sorry. I would still try to get an answer from your agent too though.
