  8. Nancy, I love animals.....especially dogs (I have 9). I even trapped a baby possum that was getting into my ductwork and took it to a wildlife rehabilitator instead of shooting it! However, if an aggressive dog comes at me, I will not hesitate to shoot. I have 34 acres and I often go walking on the property. There have been several occasions that I have been approached by an aggressive dog. We have a lot of irresponsible pet owners out here that let their dogs run loose and breed.....resulting in many wild dogs running around. If I have time, I will shoot in front of or to the side of the dog (if you can do this safely).....the noise will usually scare them away.....and if that doesn't work, shoot them with your "ratshot". That won't kill them but it will more than likely make them go away. I'd load your 22 revolver with ratshot when you go bicycling....just for the dogs. But I'd also recommend that you have your 26 on you too for larger predators if needed!
  9. I'm still thinking about adding a New York Trigger......maybe the No. 1 with the stock connector. If that works and feels more like a revolver trigger pull and I like it......I will probably toss the Saf-T-Blok. But for now, the Blok makes me feel better while carrying with a chambered round. I'm sure I could pop the Blok out faster than I could rack the slide to chamber a round (if I chose to carry without a round in the chamber). As far as forgetting to pop it out if I needed to shoot my gun......what about the people that carry a gun with a manual safety that you have to disengage before you shoot? Same principle there. Should we be telling them they should buy a Glock or similar gun without a manual safety? How about all you 1911 guys that like to carry cocked and locked? Do you carry that way with the safety off? The one thing that makes me hesitate about adding a New York Trigger is that all of you that say you've tried it have eventually went back to the stock trigger setup. This makes me think that I wouldn't like it and it would just be a waste of time.
  10. Greg, I have to agree with what Fallguy said. No matter how great of a parent you/we are, and no matter how well you/we teach our kid(s) the proper gun safety rules, there is always a chance that they will disobey.....and all it takes is that one or two seconds when you're not looking. I personally plan on teaching my three year old son how to shoot with a red ryder bb gun this summer, and I have already started teaching him gun safety rules. After the bb gun, maybe next summer we'll move to a 22 rifle, and so on. Sometimes he will lift my shirt and try to touch my gun and I will tell him not to and explain to him that it is extremely dangerous......but that soon I will show him what a gun can do. I do agree with Greg that we shouldn't keep our guns completely away from the kids and forbid them to ever touch them.......that will just make them want to get at them even more. I think it's important to let them handle and shoot guns, so that they will gain a proper respect and understanding of what they are for and what they can do. However, I think it's just as important to keep our loaded guns far out of their reach and either locked up and/or on us at all times. This is just my opinion, as a mom as well as long time gun owner/shooter.
  11. Unfortunately, I'm not THAT well endowed! The one I carry in my bra is a NAA 22 mag mini revolver.
  12. Yes, it does stick out of the trigger gaurd enough to pop it out without actually sticking your finger into the gaurd. Here's a couple pics:
  13. Rabbi, I'll show you mine if you show me yours! jk

    New "toy"

I've had one of these for over 10 years.....I love it for deep concealment and backup. Mine is a 22 mag. without the folding grip. It's a little tough to hold onto when I shoot it......the grip wants to slip up out of my hand......but as long as I hold tight it's fine. These have a lifetime warranty and I think they're very well made little pocket guns. I usually have the first shot or two loaded with snakeshot, then hollow points. Definitely beats not having any gun at all!
  15. I carry mine sometimes in my bra You just never know I usually carry my Glock in my belly band at the 10 o'clock position.
  16. The little NA Arms pistol I have is a little bit hard to hold onto.....you definitely have to have a firm hold on the grip. They do make a longer grip for it that folds up into the gun itself.......you might like that on it. It's recoil really isn't too bad.....but it tends to want to slide up out of your hand when you shoot it if your not holding very firmly. Also.....you can carry the "pocket pistols" however you want really. That Na Arms pistol works good just in your pocket for several reasons.......it's tiny, its stainless steel so perspiration wont affect it, and it's SAO (single action only) so there's no danger of it going off accidentally since you have to cock the hammer to shoot.
  17. Nancy, Marswolf posted this in the "Do you carry at church" thread....thought it might be useful: Marswolf: As always, I recommend the Kel-Tec P3AT back pocket gun in a Don Hume holster.
  18. My husband has been reading up on making his own ethanol........in the process he discovered that you basically make it the same way you make moonshine......and he found moonshine stills for sale on eBay Just FYI If my dad were still alive, he could tell you how to make it. He was a moonshiner back in the late 40's and 50's in WVA. He made it in the barn and had the barn rigged to blow up if a light switch was flipped inside the house This is a true story, not BS........my mom has verified it on many occasions. He would go to work in the coal mines and tell her to flip the switch if the law came around! He worked with dynamite in the mines.....that's how he got the TNT to rig the barn
  19. Nancy, I have never owned a Kel-Tec, but I have a little pocket pistol that I love. It's a North American Arms .22 mag, 5-shot mini-revolver, SAO. It's tiny! If you just want a little pocket gun, this one is great. I don't think it's even as big as a derringer, and it has 5 shots! I carried it many years ago before I had a permit I still sometimes carry it as a backup. I always loaded the first shot or two with "snake shot" bullets, then the rest with hollow points. Those snake shots are great for snakes as well as self defense......just spray someone in the face with one or two of those and I'd say they'd run......and if not, you can slow them down enough to follow up with the hollow points

  22. Ok.......I have to admit it.........I did get one of these for my Glock 27. Go ahead, feel free to tell me how dumb they are if you wish........but I have two good reasons for wanting a little extra safety while carrying. #1 is my three year old son, and #2 is that I carry in a belly band. I had to get one and try it for myself to see if I liked it or not. Guess what? I like it. I tested it for several days in my gun without a round chambered to see if it would stay in place. For the most part it did stay put.....a couple times I found it partially out of place, but still in enough to block the trigger. I also practiced drawing my gun and popping the safety block out. This process is quick and seems completely effortless to me. Overall, I think it is a good device for extra safety in a Glock, especially if you are carrying in a soft holster like a belly band, smart carry, or maybe a clipdraw. However, I wouldn't recommend it to a beginning shooter though. I think you need to have plenty experience with carrying a chambered gun and realizing that you can't put your finger on the trigger until you have your sights on the target. I know what several of you are going to say to this......you can't pop the safety block out without putting your finger inside the trigger gaurd. In a way that's true, but I am able to pop the block out with the side of my trigger finger without putting my finger all the way into the trigger gaurd. There's no way I'm going to accidentally pull the trigger on a Glock by pressing in on the side of the trigger......my finger would have to be in front of the trigger and then I'd have to pull it back. I have been hunting deer with a 12 gauge shotgun since I was 11. I'm sure you're all familiar with shotguns that have the safety on the side of the trigger gaurd. Disengaging that type of safety on a shotgun before you're ready to shoot a deer is a very similar motion to popping out the safety block in the Glock. Well, at least that's what it feels like to me, and I imagine that's why I feel pretty comfortable with it. Ok.......now let me have it Mars and Jackdog
