Back on-topic. I've carried, openly even, in Federal Credit Unions... They are not federal buildings. Federal Reserve banks are federal buildings (as far as I am aware, anyways). I don't have much cause to go inside those, however... and they are uncommon.

Well, now, I'm confused then... since you're saying that you can't do a BG check on a person who hasn't filled out a 4473, but you can't do a 4473 on a gun which has never been on your books... How are these dealers doing TBI checks on guns which customers bring in, cold? If they are accepting the gun onto their books for the sole purpose of turning around and transferring it to the specific person requesting that, is there anything wrong with doing so, legally?

Interesting... I learn something new every day. So, even if the 4473 is not filled out, the information/serial# of the gun is not still provided to the TBI during the course of the related background-check, in this circumstance? I realize that it is not defacto registration, since the TBI doesn't (supposedly) keep a record of the association of the gun with the person being checked... but I would think that anyone who was mistakenly going through this process would notice if the store clerk didn't take down the information on the gun and read it off to the TBI during the check, since that was their purpose in going through the process. You're right, either way, it sounds pretty under-handed by the FFL, TBI, or both.

Yes, that's exactly what it is... but the TBI only charges $10 for this action. hence the dealer makes a profit. I honestly don't see a problem with that, as long as the dealer isn't misleading the customer into thinking that it is necessary, as a form of 'registration'.

Never fired one, but have held and examined a couple at gun-shows. They aren't scarce, but you probably won't find one in many gun shops. I thought the grip was reminiscent of the P239, perhaps very slightly thicker front to back. I haven't held a 220 Compact, so I couldn't make a fair comparison. I would expect it to be very similar, albeit minus the beaver-tail. The P220 Compact SAS would probably be the most comfortable of those models to grip and carry, since they will likely not have a beavertail... I do know that most folks who have them tend to hang on to them, they are as well-regarded, functionally, as P220s. Gunbroker always has a handful which usually sell in the mid-$600 range. I haven't seen a NIB example for some time. --- If I find two for sale around here, I'll let you know One would become mine.

I've traded a few, and I've sold a few... Losing some money on a deal is bad if you're looking at it as a financial investment. To me, I must say that as a hobby, I can accept there to be some cost involved. And, as a means of protection, no price can be put on it. So, whenever I can do so, I get the most for my firearms when I choose to pass them on... But if I must replace a gun, I must weigh the benefits of getting a new one, and the value of keeping the old one with the difference in my pocket (or, as more likely the case, from my pocket...) I'm not a wealthy man, and have many other factors to weigh (do we really need MORE shoes?)... but the contents of the pocket is usually the deciding factor. Absent that, I would still have every gun I've ever purchased (minus the two Taurus products). Joe put it very well, gotta understand the business perspective too...

I'll certainly do all of those things... after making sure that my life is no longer in harm's way. I don't think you're hearing me, or at least, you're responding to different issues than I have presented. What do you think a 'civil rights violation' consists of? It can be many things, I'm not talking about matters in which my life or liberty are not threatened. But, attempting to deprive me of my life is certainly infringement of my rights, don't you think?. Should I allow that? The law clearly states that I don't have to. If a cop has his weapon pointed at me, it had better be for a good reason. I have already stated, merely, that I would not be disarmed willingly, but that I will passively resist. That forces the LEO to weigh whether using escalated force is justified to disarm me. It would not be. If a situation is escalated to the realm of 'deadly force', it will be by the LEO... not me. Passive resistance is not illegal, especially when no other laws have been broken. It is not my fault or affair if I am mistaken for the suspect of a crime, why is that my problem? Because you would shoot me if I don't fawn before you? Give me a break... I wouldn't use force against a cop for anything less than him escalating un-lawful deadly force against me. Tell me, should I allow a cop to kill me because he is wrong, mistaken, or negligent in his duties? Would you?

I don't think he meant any harm, he just wanted to assert himself... sadly for him, his assertion had no merit. I've carried every single time I've ever been in Hastings, about half the time concealed, commonly open... never before gotten a sideways look... and I know that this fellow has been there before with me there. I believe he chose that moment, with several people around, to try to intimidate me. Why people like this get the notion to antagonize an armed person, I'll never know... All he has done is resolve me to open-carry there as a rule. 6.8 spc would be an excellent caliber to reload for, for practice... especially if you have any .270 hunting rifles, since they accept the same projectiles.
