John Stossel report about gun control...
molonlabetn replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Perhaps we could put external articles in the 'Articles' forum... even though it was created for member-written articles? Broadside? I think that's a good idea... As long as we don't end up with so many specific forums that we lose track of all of them. -
The full-size EAA Witness 10mm that I got to spend a few minutes with over a year ago was very ergonomically pleasing... and they hold 15+1. I'm a sucker for CZ and BHP clones... But, for what I'd be doing, I'd rather have the single-stack 1911 frame. Simple preference. A 10mm chambered G36-frame gun would be quite welcome, as well...
-
I was leaning more towards a 10mm 1911 (a Dan Wesson Razorback, specifically) I am quite happy with sticking to .357sig for carry... I can't get used to the Glock grip, especially on the thicker, long-action frames (G20, 21, 29 & 30)... if they build a G20SF, I might be a little more flexible... But I still wouldn't carry it.
-
Valid points... .45 GAP will most likely end up like the .38super, only will less useability in the shooting sports, and more useability in compact carry pistols. I forget where I saw this, but someone online made a humorous suggestion that Glock develop an 'intermediate magnum' pistol cartridge to compete with the 5.7x28mm, using a GAP case necked down onto a .172" projectile... He wanted its nomenclature to be: .17 GIMP (Glock Intermediate Magnum Pistol) Hilarious...

Welcome, and Thank You for your service! I guess we can let it slide that you know Mars... just remember that you'll be watched I look forward to your input, even if you do like Glocks... I'm a 10mm 'wannabe' myself, simply because I don't own one, yet. Make yourself at home.
-
Watch out though... these were developed with the input from Glock. Don't have an ND! Perhaps that is why Glock doesn't make grenades... cause noone would be able to convince them that the pin was necessary! "As long as the user can keep their fingers on the spoon, it would be perfectly safe..."

It's in the hands of the USPS now... pm's sent.

At least some of the NAACP leadership will bow to reason, when it's in their best interests... Then, there are some NAACP leaders who set a bad example... http://www.goupstate.com/article/20070428/NEWS/704280319/-1/BUSINESS I won't cheer for the NAACP. But I will cheer for Damon Wells and his family.

Hello Randy. Welcome to the fray! How long have you been associated with Suarez, if you don't mind me asking? -
I've heard that some of the earlier LEM trigger had a stiffer trigger pull than the newer ones... Or perhaps the pull weight is an option. I have seen two different specs, 11.5# to 7.5#... I have felt the lighter trigger, and it felt really good.

Have had a bunch of .22s, never settled on one which I really wanted to hang on to. The next pistol I'd like to own is a Browning Buckmark, ever one which I have ever handled or fired was head-and-shoulders above its competition. The next .22 rifle which I am going to acquire will possibly be a 10/22, but probably something more along the lines of a .223 Rem 700 (not a rimfire).

We've all heard the various stories and descriptions of folks loading up specialty home-defense loads with rock-salt, dimes, penny-nails, etc... However, in all of the ballistic tests I have seen, nothing seems to compare to good ol' ball shot. (check out the Box O' Truth) But, I wonder... There are several companies who produce and market industrial grade 'ball-chains', comprised of varying sizes of steel, brass, aluminum, etc, balls which are linked together. Very similar to the ball-chains used to hang dog-tags, use as key-chains, or link the toilet float to the valve. Here's a link to one: http://www.ballchain.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=BCM&Category_Code=SPOOL What if.........? Would anyone care to guess how effective something like this might be loaded in a 12ga shot-shell to mag velocities? The main advantage I could imagine would be to keep the shot spread very minimal at longer ranges, and, it would maintain a somewhat-cohesive single mass with which to destroy tissue... Even to the point of actually doing some major cutting, thus a better chance of intersecting a critical organ/nerve/vessel! I figure that a 'necklace' of 8 or so 3/8" steel pellets might actually give some traditional loads a run-for-their-money at 1400fps or so... Comments? Anyone willing to try it?

Perhaps a Hogue rubber grip would have a better texture? I personally like checkered wood grips on revolvers, as well. Possibly a competent 'smith could smooth up that pull with some polishing stones... S&W builds great revolvers, but not the best triggers for them, Colt has that market cornered (in terms of factory revolver triggers). I bet a good action polishing would smooth up that pull noticably, likey even reduce the percieved weight by a pound or two. Kewl! <edit> All of the metal-framed pistols which I have ever owned wore Hogue grips of some type, usually the rubber finger-groove models. Even put one of their Over-Molded stocks and forend on the old Mossburg 500 I used to have long ago... real nice.

I would gladly accept a tax increase to be assured of the justice system speedily ridding society of its scum! Most of us already spend an extra couple thousand dollars a year in preparation for having to deal with the criminal element, anyways... Forgiveness is a wonderful thing, so is mercy to a repentant individual... But apathetically releasing a proven, un-reformed evil person, or allowing them to tie up cell-space and tax-dollars for no purpose other than someone's 'feelings' is exactly what has continually expounded this problem which we are currently faced with.
-
Yes. Criminals deserve to suffer the same cruelties and fate as their victims. Not for me to say... but I certainly wouldn't want to be on the same side as them, when it's all said and done! It sure does cut down on the repeat offenders though! 5 years is too long. I would say 48hrs perhaps... I would also add, that if the family member did not complete the execution after the state handed them responsibility for the criminal, then they would be responsible for supervising and providing for them for the rest of their lives, not the tax-payers... it wasn't our decision to spare them, we shouldn't have to foot the bill. If they want to be merciful, they can do so on their own dime. I would respect that.

Easily fixed... just click the "Edit" button at the bottom of your post, and when it opens, run the spell-checker or change what you need. -
I'll be sending you a pair of cartridges tomorrow (might be able to get it out this afternoon)... and I'll be sending the rest to jfglock. At this time, I am fresh out of C4... had some stumps to remove Need any thermite? Doomsday Device?
-
I think the point is, that the initial fully-reset trigger pull is the equivalent of a long DA stroke. Subsequent shots are made in a halfway-single-action mode, as long as you don't fully release the trigger. I'd encourage anyone interested in comparing them to go handle a LEM or DAK pistol and evaluate it for yourself. There is a HUGE difference in how they operate, compared to any striker-fired pistol I have ever encountered, especially Glock.

I've still got 50+rd of Double-Tap 185gr Gold-Dot .45 G.A.P. I'm sure that I could part with it... since I don't have a gun in this caliber anymore. pm me if you want it, and where to send it. I'd be fine with just sending one or two cartridges out of the lot. jfglock, I'll send you the rest of them, if you want them... The Double-Tap is HOT . 185gr Gold-Dot bullet @ 1150fps - 4" bbl... excellent carry ammo. I've used a ton of it in the past. I don't have the original packaging anymore (since I dump it into ammo cans for storage)

Indeed! Of course, another way to look at it is to recognize that stupid people are their own plague... I just don't want the consequences of the 'stupid-plague' to be imposed upon me! -

Yep, it's gone. Hooray! That didn't take long. Hopefully they got the picture that such things are not welcome in this state... One way or another. -

Good thing we live in the Edjamacashun State -
The Sig 'DAK' trigger system is nearly identical, and supposedly even smoother (haven't had a chance to compare, myself). After looking at the internals on the Sig, I have no doubt that the trigger bars and sear engagement will hold up very well, as they are FAR beefier than the thin, stamped disconnector used by Glocks... Time will tell, but the systems have been around for more than a few years already... and I've still yet to hear of either an LEM or DAK mechanism failing.
