Had an interesting confrontation yesterday...
molonlabetn replied to molonlabetn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sent an e-mail to Hasting Entertainment: service@hastings-ent.com I will post any response I receive, as soon as I receive it. -
I've OC'ed at the Target in the 'boro without issue, 3-4 times. I Looked, but never saw a sign. I've OC'ed just about everywhere in the 'boro... Including Stones River Mall (the security personnel didn't even blink, and I know they were aware... stood right in front of them and asked directions to the restroom, due to the renovation).

I could return it early, on wed, for instance... -
Hmmm... that's a good idea. I bet a belt holder for a flashlight or pocket-knife would hold rolled-up papers perfectly.

I generally make the trip to Hastings in the evening, 5-7ish... so that there is still time to watch the movie when I get home, before it gets too late. Six pm sounds fine by me. -
I just use the printer preferences to multi-page print it onto a single sheet of light-weight paper, and then fold it to fit into a card-sleeve... I have to un-fold it to read, but it's readable. They won't fit on a card-sized piece of paper, unless you cut and pasted only the relevant portions... It does make the wallet a bit thicker! Worth it though...

Surprise, surprise... Perhaps this man, and those like him, prefer guns to be illegal so that his 'black-market' operation could be more profitable? It certainly begs the question...

By their own standards, no the British weren't 'wrong'... But even so, it was unacceptable for the Founders to live under. The people ultimately have the right to decide how they are governed, and if they so choose, to throw off government which they find oppressive. It isn't so much about right vs. wrong, as it is defending the sanctity of living on one's own terms. The battle continues to this day.

My DVD is due to be returned on Thursday... The clerk I am talking about is the assistant manager (I think), and he looks like he should be a South Park character. -
One good thing to do... Print out the TN AG opinion # 05-154, fold it up, and carry it in your wallet. Really helps. http://www.attorneygeneral.state.tn.us/op/2005/OP/OP154.pdf I've got a few AG opinions in my wallet. And some excerpts from TN code (which reminds me, I need to print out recent copies...)

Yeah... I think he knows that Hastings would not support his decision to post the store. Most back off anytime it is mentioned that all they have to do is tell the OCer that they're not welcome as a customer. That's a lose-lose situation for them. So, as long as I'm not doing anything illegal, and the store employees are unwilling to risk the ire of corporate by expelling me, I'll continue to go about my business. -

Spoke to the clerk again tonight whilst checking out... I initiated by asking him if there was any bad blood over our previous encounter, in a friendly manner. His response was curt: "No bad blood, you just have to understand that I can't make sure everybody I see with a gun has a permit" "I respect your concern, but you realize that's not your job...?" "It is my responsibility to ensure the safety of my employees and customers!" "I am responsible for my own safety, and as it stands, you have no authority over that." "The police got called last time you were here." "I wish you would have told me, so I could stay and talk to them." "I understand that it's your 'right' and it's 'legal', but somebody who's not a cop carrying a gun makes people nervous." "So if they don't see it, it's not as bad?" And then out of the blue: "You wouldn't carry a gun into Lowes, now would you?" "Why yes... I was up there last week. Go there all the time, actually. What's so different about Lowes?" "Nevermind, have a good night.... that'll be due on Thursday." Sounds like this guy is searching for justification to make this difficult for me... So this could get interesting. I'll keep going back until they tell me not to. -
Middle TN: Class III Demo and all around good time?

I'll be there. Lemme know if you need help finding a POC out there. -
Let's try to keep personal discussions where they belong, and topic-related discussion civil. Anything not related to long-guns, or insightful in some way, is fair game for deletion.

That's very similar to the rules regarding the difference between Short-Barrelled-Shotguns, and Any-Other-Weapons... The recievers which originally came with a pistol-grip affixed, instead of a shoulder-stock, can be much more easily (cheaply) converted into more compact packages (see Serbu-Shorty)... I wouldn't have much use for a AR15 pistol... but I'd love an SBR in a large-bore... .45 Bushmaster probably. Real handy, that would be!

Wow... just, wow... Killed a guy over beer & ball-caps, in the absence of any threat to life or limb I too, hope justice is served... Sadly, one of the criminals is still just as dead, having had no opportunity for a trial. This is not how I want to be thought of.

I hope that was an inside joke... An internet forum would be a painful place to get that news!

I like pretty much anything except for rap and country... Most of my CD collection is classic and 70's-80's rock. Got some new stuff too. When I'm driving, and can get radio reception, I'm tuned in to talk radio.

I was just up there with my wife a couple hours ago... Good bunch of guys (gotta keep an eye on Rodney though) Welcome to the fray, hope to meet you sometime. I've been meaning to shoot with Donnie for a while now, too. Cheers! P.S..... If you ever happen to pull in behind this: I swear that I was doing the speed limit! Honest!

Everybody was real polite tonight... No issues. -
It is a rip-off of the Kel-tec... KT even sued them over copyright infringement, as I recall. I've handled a few... it's basically a P11 with rougher machining, poorer finishing and materials. The only one which I have seen fired, fell apart (literally) within 100rd... the hammer finally broke in half, ending the dissapointed owner's session. I have heard of this specific thing from several other people, as well. The real thing (a Kel-tec) isn't much more expensive, but from what I have seen, is well worth it.

Fair 'nuff. I respect that.

This is an old policy, one which has been rescinded. Wal-Mart currently has zero policy regarding the carry of firearms in their stores, provided that all local, state, and federal laws are complied with. Of course, the local WM managers reserve the right to eject anyone from their stores, for whatever reason... but open-carry is not targeted by their corporate policy at all. Here's a good listen: http://www.reachtheworld.net/media/Walmart_Firearm_Policy_Call.MP3 Any questions, call Joe McQueen at Wal-Mart Headquarters in Bentonville AK. (757) 471-1651. This issue has been alleviated, thanks mostly to our brothers & sisters in Virginia.

I have OC'ed in every Wal-Mart in Manchester, Tullahoma, Winchester, Shelbyville, Murfreesboro, Bolivar, Mcminneville, Cookville, Johnson City and a few in Nashville, Knoxville & Chattanooga. Never a comment or outraged look, much less seen any 'no firearms' signs or been asked to conceal/leave. On the contrary, I have had nothing but pleasant encounters with the staff of those establishments. Wal-mart corp. policy is to abide by the laws of the given state in which they are located; if I was ever asked to leave, I would do so (it's their prerogative and right), but be certain that I will follow-up with their management or corporate administration. Every incident which I have ever heard of like this has been the result of a rogue/misinformed employees, and was resolved in favor of the patrons' right to carry, when followed up on properly. See opencarry.org for more info. Kingfish, I applaud your desire to be a visible example of a citizen's right to carry... Keep your best foot forward, no matter what response you encounter. You have my support and encouragement.
