I mean, technically, pulling the trigger on an XD or M&P retracts the striker about 1/64" before releasing it... one is classified as single-action, the other DAO... If 75% pre-cocked can be called DAO, then so can 99%. But, honestly, it's best to define operations from the point of view of the user. Neither system can fully cock the firing mechanism, or re-strike without another independant operation (racking the slide).
-
Well, in practice, what is the difference between a Glock trigger pull and a Browning HP trigger pull? They are similar weight, neither can strike without first racking the slide, and there is no re-strike capability. I my mind, that's single action.

I don't have a truck, but gimme a call or whatever and I'll come lend a hand anyhow If you need any boxes, I think my wife saved most of the ones we used...

Can you get them to send some of that rain my way? My lawn is dying...

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headline/metro/4858523.html Real smart... Genius material right there. Of course, it didn't help that he had to pull the trigger to disassemble the pistol, without first being forced to lock the slide back...

Updated again... added a field which identified the firing mechanism useage (DA/SA, SAO, DAO...)

Most of my travels take me to places where I can't be armed with a firearm... Even vacations...

While this is very true, 'good enough' does not the 'best' choice make...

Heh... I've been tuning in to 99.7 WTN regularly since the mid 90's. Aside from the idiot they have on now in the mornings, I enjoy listening to every show they air. I hardly listen to music in the car, anymore (unless my Wife takes charge of the stereo... in which case we listen to rap and country*) *see my 2 least favorites noted in my previous post :surrender:it's about the only thing we don't agree on... music...

Yeah... The rail is ugly. But, it is a balanced ugliness. It's pretty hard to complain about making a Glock uglier.
-
Very true... Personally, I prefer the classic, basic models made by Sig. Can't get a new P220, P226 or P229 without a rail now, unless you get the SAS versions... The good old P225 and P228 are no longer made. The P239 and P232 are the only ones which are still available in unfornicated trim. I'll be supremely disenchanted with Sig if they put a rail on either of those models! It's like having a rail on a 1911... It should be optional, not standard. Few people actually use them in practice. Beretta is much the same, replacing their 92/96 lineup with the rail-standard 90-Two... Speaking of Beretta... anybody heard anything about the .45acp PX4?

You know the answer to that! Glocks embody PERFECTION! They have no need to emulate those other designs which are IMPERFECT Perfection, version 4.0... Okay... it's fun to bash, and their weaknesses have been thoroughly discussed... But that doesn't mean I think Glocks are totally inviable weapons. I simply can't help but giggle inside at the irony of their marketing.

The grip does feel different... still characteristically blocky, but at least slightly more rounded, and the back-strap is not as obtrusive... yes. The trigger feels heavier than most stock Glocks that I have felt, it could have been because the SFs that I tried were new... but I would estimate the pull-weight around 7-8lb, instead of the normal 5 or 6... it was crunchy, but that's fixable. Aside from the G36, I must say that it has the most comfortable grip I've held... on a Glock. Acceptable, at least. Enough to make it serious competition for the XD-45? Maybe...

I personally liked God's approach when kicking Adam & Eve out of Eden... Now THAT'S border control! Where can we get one of those flaming swords?
-
After handling several of these G21SF guns a few times... I must say that I have warmed up to them more than I would have expected. It's not drastically smaller than a regular 21, but enough to be comfortable (for a Glock)... Surprisingly, even more-so than the G17/22/31/37 frame... Perhaps I will someday own a G21SF and a G36... (See! I'm not closed-minded!)

Had an interesting confrontation yesterday...
molonlabetn replied to molonlabetn's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Still no e-mail back from corporate... I'll probably wait to go by again until I have their response in-hand. My wife dropped off the DVD last night, since I couldn't... I'll update again later. -
Sweet... that's pretty nice. LMT's monolithic rail platforms look nice too... I'v never handled an LMT, but their reputation is excellent.
-
If you're not wanting a strictly DAO trigger, then I concur with Rabbi and Hero-Gear's suggestions... The Sig P230/232 is a sweet platform... and a J-frame would be even more consistent & powerful.

But, of course! I'm going to get her used to it being on her hip, first, in condition 3... but just around the house. Once her permit comes, I plan to have her acclimated to Cond 1 carry. That RIA tactical is nice... I want one myself now.
-
Yeah, feels like 8lb. To be quite honest though... I think that it will make her a bit less worried about having an unintended discharge. Then, when she's used to shooting the gun, I'll get it smoothed up, and lightened a bit; but not much... she wants to carry it. My Mil-Spec ended up with a 3.75lb trigger... she did just fine with it.
-
Nice choice... if I must say so myself My wife has one very similar, as of yesterday. Definitely a keeper (hint, hint )

Wow... and this could have been solved by replacing a pair of pants? Yikes. Musta been some nice pants...

I thought his was a 7.62x39? If this falls through, I will be selling this stuff at my cost (which is cheaper than what someone can buy it for now). I hope that I don't have to resort to that, though...
-
I was impressed with this RI... The last time I had looked at one (couple years ago), they were pretty crude. I don't even remotely expect to have any problems aside from those which normal break-in and some polishing will smooth out... my SA Mil-Spec didn't feed HP by hand right off the bat either, and I'll agree that the internals on this RIA are at least as nicely finished as it was. Side-by-side with the Springfield G.I., this RIA was obviously a better gun, with upgraded parts which one normally finds on a gun $200 more expensive. I should know... I bought a SA Mil-Spec 3 years ago for the same price as this RIA, and then paid a smith $200 to bring it up to the level that this RIA is configured out-of-the-box!
-
Interesting... I'll have to look for that. When I had it apart, the feed-ramp cut into the frame is generous, but not polished... The barrel ramp (if it can be called that on a mil-spec gun) looks normal. We'll see how it handles the first few hundred cartridges, and then go from there. Thanks for the info... good to know that if it has this problem, they'll be aware of it.
