Just about any business I send an e-mail to usually takes a week or so to respond. If it's urgent, I'd also recommend a phone-call. TR gets very positive feedback for their customer service, from what I've seen.

That was just a 'PC' way of indicating that the perp was black. Any reporter will state whether a suspect in a given story is 'white', 'black', 'hispanic', 'asian', 'arabic', etc... I fail to see a problem...? That may have been the only description they had, or were able to give... Are you implying that it is offensive or wrong to give a physical description?

You betcha! I'll even do ya' one better... I'll bring it up to HGR on the 23rd

Repeal the Second Amendment...?
molonlabetn replied to molonlabetn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty much... I guess he defines "we" pretty loosely! Maybe he should emigrate to France? -
http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200706/CUL20070612a.html As I recall, the ratification of the Constitution was contingent on the addition of the Bill of Rights... Would this not then open the door to valid secession by many states? Quite honestly though, since most states have their own version of the 2nd Amendment in their individual Constitutions... realistically, it would take far more than simply repealing of the Bill of Rights to remove legal reinforcement for individuals to keep and bear arms. Still, this is appalling!

The only differences were the contour of the slides, and the 2nd gen guns had a funky looking extractor bolted to the ejection-side. No improvements were made, from what I've seen. The slide contour change was a result of the shape of the bar-stock steel they machined them from being different.

Online prices are sometimes deceptive... if you're just ordering one item, the shipping & handling is usually a pretty good chunk. You might still come out cheaper, especially considering that you're paying sales tax locally, but at least you get to see and feel a particular holster in-person and compare it to others. I usually only order things online which I cannot get at all locally... unless it's a REALLY good deal. This is especially the case when there is a local gun-shop which I will take any excuse to visit and patronize, since it is desireable to me for them to stay in business! Good customer service trumps anything, including saving a few pennies.

Uh oh... brian, I think you may have just come up with the solution for eliminating the problem of illegal immigration for the purpose of 'doing the jobs Americans just won't do' We don't need a 'guest worker' program! We need an 'inmate worker' program!

Sounds like a good choice, man... I was really impressed with the ergonomics of the 24/7 series when they came out, myself.

...you could just open-carry whatever size pistol you want

Romanian WASRs are the most common, that I have seen... Usually around $400. The Bob Pope Gun Show is coming up next weekend (22,23,24), in Smyrna. There are always quite a few there.

Yes, all good points. Many argue the potential increased cost of housing more inmates, if enforcement were made more strict... But, in reality, we could certainly lower the cost per-inmate by removing their 'luxuries', such as cable, air-conditioning... and put them on a more basic diet and artificial-light/electricity ration. Society pays for these people, whether they are behind bars or on the street... So, lets get them off the street, and dictate a more realistic basic standard of living to them. As to capital punishment, there are an overwhelming number of convicted murderers, rapists, terrorists, etc... who are indisputably guilty of their offenses, and a danger to those around them no matter where we keep them because they have proven to be habitual monsters without remorse or desire to reform... There is no reason to keep them alive.

The SA EMP-9 has a shorter (front-to-back) grip than a standard 1911... that might be an excellent solution, as Joe mentioned. Also, make sure that you try some 1911s with flat mainspring housings... arched housings do make the grip seem a slightly thicker and more awkward for some hands. I can't manipulate the slide-release on a 1911 with my strong-side thumb from a shooting grip either... I almost always sling-shot the slide, but I have also found that I can very easily manipulate the slide release on 'most any pistol with the thumb of my weak hand, from a two-handed grip, as I bring the gun back on target. Another gun to look at is the Taurus PT-745... It's a single-stack sibling of the PT-145 Mil-Pro. the trigger won't be impressive, but they have improved on the earlier Millennium models.

XDs aren't really that thick... They are blocky though. At the widest, the P2000 is about as thin as an XD (1.1"), but is far more contoured, so I wouldn't worry about it being difficult to carry. It will not, however, be as thin as the other 2 you mentioned. Never fired a P2000SK, they do have a nice trigger though, I intend to own a standard size P2000 in the near future.

Sorry, I just noticed this question. I have no problem with open use of this database, it is publicly available information... All I did was compile it in a single document. I add firearms frequently I'm sure it can be made more user-friendly, I just don't have the time or inclination... be my guest!

TFA Nashville Chapter June Meeting (06/19/07)
molonlabetn replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
No update on the speaker... I guess we'll find out there. Here's a link to the TFA Forum thread: http://www.tfaonline.org/memberforum/viewtopic.php?t=1155 Are we still planning to meet beforehand for a meal? -
Bump!

yeah... I agree that there should be a common designation for un-conventional striker-fired mechanisms. As it is, all we have are the biased nomenclature given by the manufacturers ("Quick-Action", "USA", "Safe-Action", etc....), and the closest comparisons to conventional systems we can make, based on how the systems operate from the point of view of the shooter. I agree that neither Glocks nor P99QA nor XD nor M&P are technically either DAO or SAO... but in practice do emulate one, and not offer some capability of the other.

I like the way you think... Also, the turnaround for sentancing should be accelerated... no more of this 10 & 20 year appeals process B.S. that goes against the grain of one important thing this country was founded on. Swift and appropriate justice. I would rejoice if the day ever dawned when a criminal was very uncertain of surviving the attempt to perpetrate violence, and had the above to look forward to, if he was that lucky.

And didn't you mention needing holsters that matched your purses?

Get a 9mm carbine... (hi-point, kel-tec, etc...) Or, get a 9mm upper for an AR. Get a 5.45x39 WASR-2 Get an SKS or WASR-10 -------------------------------- Question... Why not a .22? Gotta have a .22!

Well, we went up to On-Target as soon as they opened Sunday and got a lane to share. We brought several pistols, including her RIA 1911, and about 100rd for each. She did very well... 7yd slow-fire resulted consistent 9-ring hits (B-27 silhouette), right off the bat. Once she got used to it, most shots were going in the 10-ring, with very few flyers outside of the 8... (kicking myself now for throwing away the targets...). Out of 120rd, the RIA had 2 malfunctions... both failures to return to battery the final 1/8" because the case-rim was not under the extractor, both occurred with the same magazine, which, after checking it, had bent feed-lips and a worn follower (it wouldn't even lock the slide back)... it wasn't the factory mag. The factory Novak 8rd mag ran flawlessly. I think that I'll consider the gun's record clean... since the problem was obviously the magazine. I'm going to throw out all of these old SA 7rd magazines... they are pretty much crap. Time to get her a few more Novak or Wilson mags... Other than that, the gun ran flawlessly with ball and JHP ammo (had 25rd of UMC 230gr JHP on hand, along with the 100rd of 230gr ball). Now I've just got to teach her how to field-strip and clean this thing... I got to shoot about 30rd through it... it was nice, smooth, and very accurate. It shot a bit low, but my wife is wanting some different sights anyways... so we'll tweak that then. I got her to try my Sig and XD, as well... She didn't care for the blast of .357sig out of the P239... but she loved my XD... now she wants to use IT for her HCP class
