  1. It would be fun to see smoke come from his ears...
  2. Sigh... yeah, I didn't handle it but I took notice. My only hang-up is that I now have 3160rd of 5.45x39 sitting in my basement which would be useless in the Galil The I'm going to give Atlantic their one last chance to get it to me within a week... I really want this Tantal, or else I wouldn't have waited this long to begin with.
  3. Hopefully we'll get her and the RI to the range this coming weekend... Didn't have time yesterday. She's taking her HCP class this month on the 23rd. She says she wants to carry a big gun ... My baby doesn't fool around... I'll probably end up giving it a good fluff & buff after she shoots it, the feed ramp has a bit of friction... it had a couple of hang-ups hand-feeding HPs. The Novak mag it came with is nice, I was going to give her a bunch of el' cheapo 7rd SA mags that I had, but it didn't seem to like those, so I'll definitely end up getting several more Novak mags... I have 3 holsters for the 1911, she's already picked out one... a Bianchi, but she was eyeing the Galco Miami Classic shoulder rig that Joe had on the rack in that all-too-familiar way... "Baby! It matches my purse!"...
  4. I'm a bigot ...and it seems that I'm in fine company, as well!
  5. Took her up to Hero-Gear yesterday afternoon with some money, and came home with a nice RIA 1911, the Tactical Loaded model: She couldn't be happier! I want to publicly thank Joe and Dan at Hero Gear for making my wife's first gun-buying experience so satisfying and fun for both of us!
  6. Not knowing what you have experience with... I'll throw out a few of my favorites. Sig P239 Springfield XD (I've owned & carried all 3 sizes... XD-45 Compact is probably the best overall size) Springfield 1911 (there are plenty of sizes to choose from) I want to upgrade to an H&K P2000, or a Walther P99... Either of those come highly recommended, as well. I've also considered owning one Glock, just to say that I've given them a fair shake... Some swear by them. Most are worth trying, to see if they fit you.
  7. That sounds a whole lot more exciting than my weekend... Got any pictures? Awesome recap!
  8. If Atlantic has lied to me again about my AK... I'll revert to my original plan...
  9. Latest response (yesterday evening), the president of Atlantic Firearms contacted me himself and said that mine was confirmed on its way to them from the distributor, and was due to arrive at Atlantic on Friday... Which means, depending on their turnaround, that I might have the rifle in my hands by next weekend... ...and I'll be out of town next weekend
  10. You make an excellent point,sir... I can't believe that I missed that. I have fixed the listings for the XDs, Walther P99s, SW99s, Glock 21SF, and a couple others which I had incorrectly listed as not having any ambi controls at all... Thanks for catching that!
  11. I'm sure that a pair of kevlar shorts would go with every Glock purchase...
  12. Mine as well.
  13. Indeed That fell under a different definition of 'open'-ness, altogether...
  14. Hey! Where'd you get that picture of me!?
  15. Updated a few things. Same link above.
  16. There must have been a delay between when the thread posted, and the poll posted...
  17. Just a quickie, thought this might be interesting. The poll allows multiple selections, put a check-mark beside each type of firearm which you currently own at least one of. The idea is to see the distribution and popularity of certain types of firearms, among the shooters represented here. Enjoy!
  18. Ingenious and resourceful creatures, these humans are...
  19. Glad to save the frustration I think the point is, for me anyways... but probably most of us, that I want to be a positive influence on the people around me... and that has little or nothing to do with whether they see my gun. They should see, either: -Regular, non-threatening guy without a gun (or concealed). or, -Regular, non-threatening guy with a gun. ... I don't think that looking like a thug or ragamuffin is desirable, regardless of whether one is armed.
  20. Well, it depends on what one considers 'appropriate'... if that means do I want to look like a cop, then, no. If it means that I try to present myself in a positive manner, by looking clean, non-threatening, and fashion-neutral, then, yes... I don't tend to wear clothing with specific logos, and they're always clean and fit properly. I'm a pretty casual person, you'll usually see me in jeans... and the shirt can be anything from a nice t-shirt, to a polo or an ironed dress-shirt. I stay shaved (unless I'm really having a lazy weekend), and the hair is combed. I always wear a watch, too... I dunno what it is about wearing a watch, but they tend to give the sub-conscious impression of being organized (and would ya' believe it, but I'm not late much, either!). The most important thing any of us can wear is a smile, and look people in the eye when we greet them. The idea is not to conform to some expectation of what a person with a gun should look like, but everyone should evaluate how they present themselves... and try to do so in a positive way.
  21. Welcome Frank. I've seen your work displayed at On-Target, and on THR. Thank you for your service, sir. We're honored to have you.
  22. Hmm... I wonder if the cartridge wasn't seated properly, and the firing pin pierced the brass?
  23. Is it possible to double-charge a .22lr? I'd be interested to learn if there was an obstruction in the barrel... Glad everybody is okay!
