  1. I'm glad I got my renewal in earlier this year before all of the issues they've had... between their revamped system and the huge influx of new applications, it'll take them all year to recover. The more the merrier though. This has got to be sending a message.
  2. If it's still down Sunday let me know and I'll come by before the shoot and lend a hand. I need to bring by that stock for the Mossberg either way, and I'll have room if ya' want a ride. Plenty of room in the RAV for anything you need to bring, I took the back seats out for the weekend.
  3. "Who's sober enough to go on a beer run?" "That can't be fried." "I'd like the unsweet iced-tea, please." "We've been to Gatlinburg too many times."
  4. A 37mm copy is easy to get... it's the actual 40mm tubes which must be registered as a destructive device, along with each destructive shell (HE, etc...) At $200 a pop just to get in the door, they'd be hard to stockpile, even if you could get anybody to sell them to you. So, if you're just going to shoot smoke and stuff, a 37mm version would be sweet.
  5. But still, the SCOTUS has not yet ruled on the types of arms which the 2nd Amendment protects. This ruling was simply a definitive answer that for sure handguns are in that category.
  6. I know that he mentions that the 'nature of the arm' is subject to scrutiny. But never is it defined what an 'arm' is per the Constitution other than to say whatever is in common, lawful use at the time. That merely leaves it open for localities to impose their own restrictions on what is lawful to be in common use, but does not amend or interpret the wording of the 2nd Amendment to mean any specific type of arm (or even limit that to just firearms). All he does is conclude that handguns are included in that catagory.
  7. And your basis for that is?
  8. Get enough regular people to agree and act towards changing laws would have the same effect though, really when it comes down to it.
  9. Isn't that some kind of cheese, like Gouda?
  10. If you can, go actually handle an AR with a launcher or masterkey installed... you'll agree with me then
  11. It's a job, and very few people place their ideals above every-day necessities. Those who can't handle making compromises shouldn't take a job which requires it. We all make compromises, whether it's by working somewhere that prohibits firearms, shopping at stores or restaurants occasionally which have irreputable business practices, or even just by voting for the lesser of two evils. A LEO's job is simply a very obvious conflict of personal bias vs. duty. I have alot of respect for the guys/gals who manage to do so while retaining a strong sense of their ethics and common sense. There are many who don't, and those are who we should criticize. But, we shouldn't try to criticize the ones who are doing what they are best at in order to simply provide for their families, and maybe make a positive difference too.
  12. Kinky...
  13. What's wrong with both?
  14. If we're talking about practical application... The beauty of the AR platform is it's light weight, portability, and ergonomics. Clamping a 5lb weight onto the front end pretty much destroys those 3 things. A better option would be to pay a $5 tax stamp instead of a $200, and get a Serbu Shorty or some other AOW that you can carry in a pack, or slung seperately.
  15. Concealed - XD-9 Sub Compact in Don Hume 721OT at 4:00 Open (sometimes concealed too) - XD-9 Tactical in Blackhawk SERPA at 3:00 - 3:30
  16. Identical threads merged.
  17. If you can find a semi-auto shotgun which doesn't have it's action extended into the stock, sure... A pump will be easier to manage for the intended purpose of the gun... most likely one or two shots to breach a door, or maybe less-lethal rounds (which probably wouldn't cycle a semi-auto).
  18. I didn't think anybody else knew about that...
  19. Mead. Yesss.
  20. It's called a Masterkey, and it is classified as an SBS. Basically a Remington 870 action.
  21. This should invariably prompt Hero-Gear to begin brewing their own 'tactical' beer... (maybe call it 'Hero Beer'...?) Free 6 pack with every mug purchase... hmmm... That would so rock!
  22. As long as you weren't sitting in the bar, you'd have been fine.
  23. To be perfectly honest... even after I get a tacticool AR built, I'd still be far more likely to grab the Marlin 1984 before anything else.
  24. This doesn't need to become a theological thread, but to interject on the good or evil discussion of man... since humans were created with the potential of wilfully choosing 'sin', we could not have been predestined to be either 'good' or 'evil'. I suppose the most basic and absolute definition of a sinful nature is simply 'imperfection'. Since perfection requires that some standard be met, and that is where the idea of religion and objectification of 'sin' began. By modern standards, good and evil are relative. Oh yeah, and with regard to horror flicks... whoever takes their clothes off is pretty much done for in short order.
