  1. I'll be in the 'noog Sunday the 13th with little-to-nothing to do. In town for my sister's wedding Saturday, and I don't see myself driving home afterwards. I'll bring StrickJ's Mossberg stock finally, at least.
  2. The more of those I see, especially those pictures, really like what S&W put together. The malfunctions are worrysome, but, Smith will make it right.
  3. #1 in my mind is that many seem to assume that just because someone takes an active interest in buying, shooting, and/or carrying a gun, they are just looking for an excuse to use it on another person. That is just as false as it would be to say that someone who practices martial arts is itching to get in a fight. #2 is that people see firearms ownership as something other than a social norm. This is a very recent misconception, earlier in the history of this country families had to depend on themselves to protect each other and procure food... both with the aid of tools in their own hands, including firearms. Squeamish weenies just didn't survive (too bad some of their genes did). Even though the nature of survival in society has changed, there is still oftentimes the essential need of protection by ones' own resources, even if for only the 10 minutes until professional help arrives.
  4. That and the president during WWI were the ones that got me.
  5. What happened? You're getting rid of it already?!
  6. It must have been an accident... nobody in the french military has ever used their weapon 'successfully' on purpose.
  7. ...well, that's a given.
  8. Only problem is, after the 2 weeks were over, all you'd have is a hangover, a tan, and a dime-a-dozen tupperware gun.
  9. I think everybody does it wrong the first time. I know I did.
  10. Wouldn't call them 'loopholes' so much as they are really just oversight on the part of the business which is not fully complicit with posting requirements. There's no way around it if the business is posted properly.
  11. I think the issue was there were alot of guns for sale on local classifieds and online by him and his buddy.
  12. What kind of ammo do you shoot? Have you given it a thorough cleaning with a quality copper removing bore solvent? I've had several XDs, and their bores always cleaned up like mirrors even after many thousands of rounds.
  13. Some shops will allow you to consign your guns for a small fee, meaning you put your own price on the gun, and the dealer gets a cut. If it sells, you get the money out of it you want, and it's the buyer who pays that $25 or some percentage over and above your price (unknowingly, most likely). It's different than selling or trading in guns to an FFL.
  14. It's one thing to have a large collection (from a parent-grandparent, etc...), and be slowly liquidating what you don't want to keep... it's entirely another to be buying and selling guns every week, especially if you don't shoot them. Now, I'm not sure which catagory you're in... but it would be much harder to attract negative attention doing the former. And if it's the latter, you should indeed get yourself an FFL and your own storefront. Otherwise, perhaps you should look into simply consigning the guns you want to sell with a local dealer? That shouldn't be an issue if you're not in it for profit...
  15. I bet it has something to do with the @ssless chaps I wear... folks probably never even notice the gun.
  16. I'm surprised that he didn't opt for some type of 'Security' badge instead... I could see that being both more useful and appropriate for his specific situation.
  17. ...glad I'm not the only one!
  18. It's alot more believable to wear an FBI cap...
  19. I can do the 19th, at least for part of the day I'm sure.
  20. I regularly carry a pink gun, and am giving serious thought to one of these...
  21. I've OCed alot in W-M, etc... and have yet to be given any trouble, or been aware of anyone even avoiding me. No police called, nothing. The most important thing to remember, I think, is that people respond to you (OCing or not), more based on how you present yourself than what you have... if you have a clean-cut/professional appearance, with a smile (not a huge grin), and don't act like you're skulking around, most people will view you as a positive presence. If anything, I think people tend to be nicer to me... and I find myself going out of my way to be more pleasant as well. Methinks that the majority of OC 'horror stories' tend to be when somebody who those around them see as unfit to have a gun is targetted to be hassled by way of making a negative example... simply a matter of biased perception. But, the badges are dumb, no matter what.
  22. France's first military victory? I do hope that the injured recovery quickly, and reconsider their citizenship. I'm just glad it didn't turn out worse.
  23. Not sure, I ripped the labels off and stuck them to my forehead.
