I would do the legal thing, and be a state-mandated victim, of course.

Are you sure a CIII dealer is required for in-state?
molonlabetn replied to a topic in Feedback and Support
My understanding is that in-state NFA transfers simply require the buyer to complete a Form 4 and mail in their $200 directly. If you voluntarily go through an FFL, it will actually take 2 tax-stamps... one to transfer to the dealer, and the other to the buyer. -
The worst happens when we are least prepared... being armed doesn't avert every disaster, but it's a good start. What a tragic loss...

They were just 9mms, no big deal.

My main weapon is always concealed in public, anyways...

I'm in Shelbyville quite often... there is little-to-no selection when it comes to firearms, though there is one place on 231 and another on Fairfield, but truly your best bet is Hero-Gear. Tullahoma isn't too bad, in terms of pawn-shops with some selection.

Naturally this is a sensitive topic... but the intent (I think) was to create an exercise in validating our own choices. It is worthwhile, I think, because even though we mostly agree on here who is the more positive candidate for the 2nd Amendment... we should be able to articulate that to people we meet who really have been hypnotized by Obama. So, let's try to keep this more in the spirit of learning from each other. For one... I personally feel that Obama would be very bad for this country, moreso than McCain... but my only tangible reason for the decision to vote against Obama in the most effective manner available to me, is for the reason already stated... namely the 2-3 SCOTUS seats which will come up for appointment. We need those, regardless of the other agreements or disagreements. The next President is poised to make or break what America is, even though both certainly could destroy us... at least one of them hasn't made that their goal, in essence.

I've heard good stuff about Buster's... that's actually within a reasonable driving distance of me, too. I'll have to check it out.

I do see OC as a (socially) un-cool act, hence my own efforts to not appear flagrant or unkept if or when my firearm is exposed (and when it's not, too). I just like to be able to tuck in my shirt and not have to carry a mouse-gun, or some uncomfortable deep-concealment rig. Simply a matter of being flexible as the situation dictates what is practical... But it's certainly not 'cool'... though I certainly agree that some people do it for just that (misguided) reason. But hey, there's no law against being goofy.

'Tolerance' has to start somewhere...

I think the only drawback of the Eotech is that it requires batteries... but for the price and reliability/durability reputation, it can't be beat.

I see now. We shouldn't exercise the rights we currently have 'permission' for, in fear that we might lose that permission... What's the point of pushing for more 'permission' then, anyways, in terms of carry in restaurants, etc? I do agree that 'permission', by definition, can be abused... and often is. However, that does not make the exercise of that permission by personal preference simply because it is available (because they can), invalid. ...And, where does this loss of 'permission' due to public outcry seem to be happening? Are OC states losing or gaining ground? We can 'what if' all day, but when it comes down to it, the fears that rights will be lost, or OC'ers will be targeted by criminals moreso than CC'ers are not based on reality. The mainstream gun banners are coming after us collectively no matter what method each of us individually employ to keep our weapons. So, by attempting to subdue all but those 'permissions' which you happen to cherish, you're playing right into their hands.

I know that there are 2 of them at Hero-Gear in 10mm... (I've almost bought one of them several times... check for drool marks). And yeah... DW 1911s are easily a grand. But, they have the quality of 1911s twice the price.

I'd have not believed their word that they were police without more substantial identification.

Because I'm not going to tip-toe around morons who can't even get a sign right. There are very few places which post at all in my area, and none correctly. If I see a sign, I sure don't come back... but if I'm already there, I'm doing my business and leaving. Worrying about subjective 'gotchas' in the law will make ya' paranoid... there are thousands of them aside from just this one thing.

Dan Wesson makes a Commander-sized Bobtail 10mm 1911.

'Substantially' literally means "Largely but not necessarily wholly that which is specified". That means if a sign has a majority of the verbiage specified in the TCA, it would be legal... but a circle & slash and a single sentace could not possibly be construed to convey a majority of the specified posting requirement... especially with out at least citing the code which allows the prohibition. Any lawyer worth his/her salt could tear the subject sign to pieces.

The Triple-Prime Cheeseburger @ Ruby Tuesdays isn't half bad... it's the best thing going in my area.

It is actually a good point to say that if enough Conservatives withdraw their support for McCain, it would send a message to the Republican party that we will not tolerate moderates who do not represent American ideals (even with as much respect owed McCain for his military service). Would we rather have McCain for 4 years (he's not going 2 terms, for sure), and then a Liberal for 8... or have a weak liberal for 4 years, and come back with a rejuvenated true-conservative for then next 8? Point being... the next president is inheriting a mess. They will not be able to turn it around in 4 years. It is a worthy argument to warn us to not be so short sighted in hoping that McCain would hurt the US less... because that is not certain. I'd much rather Obama fail than cast that shadow on a 'conservative' president. On the other hand. I won't vote for Obama... I kindof like having my soul.

Sounds like it uses a liquid propellant instead of powder... neat idea, but far less practical than simply reloading one's own conventional cartridges with several different power levels and projectiles. A rifled shotgun would rock... fire those Taser shells, rubber ball, or sabot JHP with good accuracy out to 100yd. But that technology already exists. Any domestic (LEO) sniper shooting 'for real' at much over 200yd, or needing pinpoint accuracy due to hostage proximity, etc, is going to be using a real rifle with a demonstrably effective, lethal load... no question. There is no market for this worth the R&D expense. It's basically a glorified potato-gun.

As soon as they come out with a 5+mbps DSL, I'll be all over it, guaranteed!

Sounds like a helluva bad day. Best wishes for a swift recovery.
