Interesting, I got the same spill that they haven't seen bulk in a while last time I was in there. I can't believe there are enough people still paying crazy prices to drive the demand.

Eneloops are the only ones that have lasted for me. They last, hold their charge, and are quite durable. I have had at least four other brands go bad. I haven't had one Eneloop fail yet. One big plus to either rechargeables or Lithium primaries is they don't leak. Costco frequently has a nice bundle for around $20.

There are a lot of good vendors. If you are ever in Atlanta, check out Going Gear's store. They have a huge hands on display. They recently moved to a bigger store that I haven't been to.... yet. They also do a lot of reviews on the "tube".

You can also get a tactical tail that stands in the "turbo" stuff. I've got most of my 4Sevens stuff either direct or from Going Gear in Atlanta. There are discount codes available from both on CPF.

I have had good luck with 4Sevens and they stand behind their products. Surefire is probably the king of durability. Zebralight, Sunwayman, and Fenix have also been good to me.

I must confess, I have that LED addiction too... Lately I've been snagged by the high-CRI bug.

Definitely check out Krav if you are mainly after practicality. It usually comes down to who has the largest will to survive, but Krav techniques are not so complicated that you couldn't remember the basics if you quit training for a year. The very first thing they usually teach is a solid groin shot....

Good info. I haven't stepped up to the high power stuff yet, but I ended up getting a cheap UTG Bugbuster for my 15-22. I'm still tempted to pick up a red dot at some point, but I thought I would start out with a scope since my eyesight is a hinderance.

Taurus TCP 738 for me. It fits well in a Desantis Super fly pocket holster. The gun is dirt cheap, accurate for its size, and I haven't had any issues.

I thought there was a law passed recently allowing guns in locked vehicles on school grounds. Guess I better check on that.

After having an accidental discharge while racking a 9mm many years ago (was pointing in a safe direction) how to carry crossed my mind many times. Spring came loose inside it) Then I found the little Taurus TCP that I felt comfortable carrying chambered. No safety, but a long strong (but smooth) trigger with a protected hammer. I firmly believe if you have time to rack the slide, you better be doing it while running. It takes some cycling and time for me to have faith in a gun. It would take quite a while for me to get comfortable with something cocked and locked, especially with an exposed hammer.

Like opening a jar or swinging a golf club, technique is key. Got to use shoulders, not elbows.

Radio Shack has a precision oiler that works real good. I use it on o-rings frequently. It's cheap and I think it is made by super lube.

I always thought the Judge or Circuit Judge would be great for home defense. Of course I don't have one, so I keep a 38 revolver loaded with fancy hollow points handy. No jamming... I would be afraid of a high powered rifle going through a few neighbors houses.

My Cold Steel Latin 24" has worked really good for me. For less than $20, I haven't seen a better bargain. I mainly prune small trees and vines, but it holds an edge pretty good.

True, the pump action has a huge intimidation factor. By the time you have your hands on it hopefully that factor carries more weight. Think of the house layout and what is most crucial to protect. A long gun could be easy to block if you have to turn corners...but it sure is easy to point.

I'm surprised the Taurus Judge or the short stock/barrel rifle version hasn't been mentioned.
