  1. Baked Beans One day I met a sweet lady and fell in love. When it became apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans. Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my wife and told her that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand. With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of baked beans. All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas. Upon my arrival, my wife seemed excited to see me and exclaimed delightedly: 'Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight!' She then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table. I took a seat and just as she was about to remove my blindfold, the telephone rang. She made me promise not to touch the blindfold until she returned and went to answer the call. The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my wife was out of the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let one go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and fanned the air around me vigorously. Then, shifting to the other cheek, I ripped off three more. The stink was worse than cooked cabbage. Keeping my ears carefully tuned to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few minutes. The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a few more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself. My face must have been the picture of innocence when my wife returned, apologizing for taking so long. She asked me if I had peeked through the blindfold, and I assured her I had not. At this point, she removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around the table chorused: 'Happy Birthday!' I fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Can stainless steel rust? Why? (I thought stainless did not rust!) Answer: Stainless does not "rust" as you think of regular steel rusting with a red oxide on the surface that flakes off. If you see red rust it is probably due to some iron particles that have contaminated the surface of the stainless steel and it is these iron particles that are rusting. Look at the source of the rusting and see if you can remove it from the surface. If the iron is embedded in the surface, you can try a solution of 10% nitric and 2% hydrofluoric acid at room temperature or slightly heated. Wash area well with lots and lots of water after use. Commercially available "pickling paste" can also be used. From http://www.ssina.com/faq/index.html#3 Stainless Steel Information Center

  20. Welcome! My wife is getting ready to take her HCP class. She has found my J frame to be uncomfortable to shoot long term, but she likes the Ruger SP 101 because it is a little heftier and handles recoil better. Just a thought.
  21. I know you hate to spend the money for an attorney, but you very much need to get a legal opinion on your options. Hold on to your relationship with your son, and do not speak ill of his mother to him. Despite your pain and frustration, don't put him in the position of being the recipient of comments about his mother (no matter how true they might be) or his feeling that he must choose one of you over the other. Individualize and strengthen the relationship between the two of you, no matter where he ends up in school. I am very sorry for your situation.
  22. I have seen it and read some of his stuff. What value may we learn from this gentleman? 1. Think carefully about our relationships with other persons. 2. Think carefully about our words and deeds. 3. The only - ONLY - moment of which we are assured is right now; use that moment wisely. 4. People are more important than things. 5. The meaning of life has to do with what we invest in others rather than ourselves.
  23. Exactly. If used as a solvent, it is great. To use nothing but WD-40 is not the best because of its solvency.
  24. Worst race I non-watched in a long time . . .
