  1. Wasn't expecting you to show up here, lol - but I guess I should have expected it!
  2. I've runt he 500's before, cheap light but they are a good deal for the money. The Black Magic stuf always seemed like over-priced gimmick... so you can probably tell my view on whether or not they are worth spending more money on them. LED's are where it's at for GOOD compact lighting these days... thats where I will be going with my next purchases.
  3. Ok, I managed to get caught up to the current posts on this journal, and I gotta say - I like it a lot!
  4. Dear Lord, I come to you with a heavy heart and asking for your strength and guidance for this man. Surround him with the love and strength only you can provide. Give him the comfort that can only come from our Heavenly Father. Put your arms around everyone who loved and knew this woman, and around those who are carrying a burden of grief from her passing, and use your power to bring them together and lift each other up. Please calm their fears of irreplaceable loss, and quiet the turbulent waters of their emotions - to be replaced with awareness of the Glory of her new Heavenly home. I ask these things to be done through the name of your Son, Jesus Christ - and in accordance with Your will. Amen.
  5. Sorry you guys missed out. I rustled up a link to another place selling them for a little more, but still under $11/pr. Feel free to check it out: Lorpen Heat Trap Socks
  6. I posted this in the Adrian's Undead Diary thread in the Zombie forum, but since it's not Zombie fiction, I felt it could use it's own thread. The author is on another forum I am on, and he is writing a pretty neat survival/EOTWAWK based piece of fiction in journal form. Feel free to check it out. I like these kinds of fiction pieces to help take me outside of my normal box of survival thinking and see how someone else views the process and preparation. The Union Creek Journal Enjoy
  7. CamoFire I bought 2 pair of these socks a few weeks back when they came up - and I can't say enough about how good these socks are. Far better that socks I have purchased locally for $20 or more. I just ordered several more pair and will be tossing some sub-par winter socks to replace with these. Just a heads up in case you are looking. FYI - that website is a timed-deal kind of site, so by the time you read this they might have sold out and moved on to another product. Take heart, you'll want to bookmark it and check back later, trust me.
  8. Thanks for the links! Is Del-Ton still backed up on delivery dates? Having to wait several months can suck the wind out of a good deal sometimes...
  9. I've owned 4 AR15's so far, and haven't spent more than $650 on any of them. My latest is a PlumCrazy polymer lower and JSE Sales 16" upper that I have right at $500 in, including shipping, fees, and a cheap holo sight. I was just eyeballing another forum that had a guy selling simple rifle kits sans lower for $465, shipped. Add in a Palmetto State Armory was recently selling lowers for $50 plus $7 shipping. Point is - deals are out there if you want to look for them.
  10. I don't think this one is zombie fiction, just EOTWAWKO fiction. Author is from another forum I am on. The Union Creek Journal
  11. 2 years ago we made a "family" day of the class - me, wife, mom, dad, my cousin, and her husband all took the course together. My wife rarely carries, but she agreed it was a smart move for her to get here in case she wants to, or in case I needed to had over my gun to her for one reason or another.
  12. I had hoped that one day, eventually, I would find something you write to be insightful and in full agreement with my own position. It looks like that day has come.
  13. FYI - according to Chris, you've got about 5 months of story left before it's over. Someone on another site I am on has been pushing it all over to a text file... and it's several thousand pages long already.... basically an entire set of novels, and it's not done yet.
  14. My 9yr old son took his first deer during the youth hunt Halloween weekend. 98yd shot with my 30-06... first time he has shot anything larger than a .22 - and it was a perfect lung shot that dropped him in his tracks. I took this 9pt last night from the same stand, approx. 120yd shot.
  15. You scare me more than the guy who shot himself. He's working on taking himself out of the equation... your mentality works on taking us all out of the equation
  16. Yes, me. Tell me your financial woes, I will give you superb advice. And by sharing where you went wrong, the rest of the class gets to learn from your mistakes.... how cool is that? But seriously - you could check out Dave Ramsey's "ELP" network for who he recommends in your area (might even be someone on his staff since he's right here in Cool Springs. Dave Ramsey Homepage - daveramsey.com If not, I do like his one rule for financial planners: If your financial planner tries to sell you a product, they aren't a financial planner, they are a salesman. Good luck!
  17. How is this different from any other draw in a dangerous situation? Or even those not-so-dangerous situations? lol Accidental Discharge - YouTube - classic, shot on re-holster - shot on draw, paddle style holsterPoint is - at the end of the day it comes down to arms control, right? You gotta control those arms of yours and those marauding bands of fingers at their disposal
  18. People have been carrying guns - primarily revolvers - un-holstered in their pocket since the pistol was invented... what's the big deal? If you've got a gun in your pocket, you simply pay attention to what else you put in there, or how you put your hand into the pocket, or how you go to remove the gun from your pocket. Proper trigger finger control is part of EVERY other draw method or technique - it just means you need to pay attention to what you are doing (shouldn't you be paying attention in the first place?). I pocket carry daily in my right front pocket. When armed (which is every day), that pocket is used for nothing else. Nothing is going to accidentally pull the absurdly long and heavy trigger pull of my P3AT (short of an intentional pull of the trigger) - because nothing is near the trigger in that pocket unless I am about to draw the gun. If there were something in the pocket to get snagged on, then I'm carrying in a pretty useless manner... so I make sure a clean draw is going to happen for me to continue to pocket carry. WWMike - I think the differentiation in that and a wallet holster is that the wallet holsters conceal that it is actually a gun, and that device makes it pretty clear "yep, that's a gun" once it is out and in the open. At least, that is what I recall from the last time I looking into the differences.
  19. DRM

    Kia soul ???

One of my former employees purchased one, and I drove it several times to lunch, as well as riding in it several times. As far as little foreign cars go - it's not bad. Seating is a bit firm, but there's plenty of room in the front seats for my 6'2" 215# self (sorry, I never sat in the rear). Controls were adequate, and power/braking seemed ok - again - for the type of vehicle it is. Kinda fun to drive, too.
  20. I'm pretty sure I was asking your opinion, not what the law states.
  21. Differing opinions on the finer points of the law aside - I think the average poster is way more informed than the average citizen. WAAAAAAAY more informed. You know, maybe incidents like this can help officials refine their policies and responses. I'd think there could be an approrpiate response somewhere between full panic mode and doing nothing.
  22. You think I'm misreading the general public's lack of knowledge about TN gun law? Or did you think I was talking about the handful of posters to this thread?
  23. I will admit, sometimes I find myself wishing officers would realize they can create a hazard too. It's not all of them - but I think some of them seem to lose sight of the fact that the rest of the drivers on the road can be heavily impacted for hours by what they feel is just a few minutes of their time sitting and filling out paperwork.
  24. Seeing as how most people have no clue about the nature of the TN open carry law, I think you're exactly right.
