  1. I'm looking for a few additional p229 magazines in 40sw. CDNN has some Promag magazines for $7 apiece. Does anyone have experience with these? The price is a far cry from the $35 factory mags.
  2. Purchased from Eastside Gun Shop.Appears to have some minor holster wear, but otherwise in great shape. Excellent deal!
  3. Nice report. It would've been nice if they included happy hour information too.
  4. Thanks to the Rabbi for providing a public information service to the East Nashville community. He still hasn't answered my questions: "But, don't you think killing someone is wrong?" and "Why do we need guns? Thats why we have police."
  5. Anyone ever trained with these guys? They seem to have a pretty extensive course selection. I'm especially interested in firsthand accounts of training.
  6. The walnut grips, extended slide release, and upgraded firing pin were courtesy of Harrington products and Makarov.com. I had to do a bit of work on the firing pin hole, extractor, and grips to make everything work smoothly. Ten bucks in equipment and a bit of time (probably would have been a bit less sans the Natty Light), everything was a go.
  7. Is my terminology off? My understanding is: 1/5 of a gallon, which is 128 oz. 1/5 x 128 = 25.6 oz. = 757 mL
  8. Well, as the TGO cliche goes, "Concealed means concealed." I would strongly consider looking the security guy in the eye and saying "Oh, yes sir. I understand. I will secure my weapon in my car right away." When outside, readjust clothing (assuming IWB or some other reasonably inconspicuous carry), wait a few minutes, and reenter.
  9. I have an unusual recommendation. Burnett's has a line of flavored vodkas that are super cheap ($7-8 for a fifth) and go great as mixers with cranberry juice, o.j., tonic, etc. They are not my ideal "unwind" selection, but can be handy if you want to quell a mixed crowd. I am a couple years out of a female-dominated graduate program, so I learned to please a crowd on a budget. Plus, that way they keep their hands of your/my bourbon.
  10. I fired about 50rds of it at the TWRA range today with no misfires. All shot straight. Thanks for the info guys, I'll know more of what to look out for now.
  11. Hi everyone- I got a good deal on a CZ52 and some surplus Bulgarian (I think) ammo at the gun show today. It was sealed in an 800rd tin, and I've been looking at it this evening. 1. The headstamp has a 10 in the 12o'clock position and a 53 in the 6o'clock position. Anyone know anything about this specific run of ammo? Is it the really hot stuff? 2. The ammo comes in little 16rd paper packs. I've opened a few, and about 25% of them have hairline splits at the top of the case. The bullets are secure, they don't shift at all. Are these safe to fire? Thanks for your help.
  12. I appreciate the replies. I may just install a sprinkler system and use it as needed. As for the gun, I have not seen threaded barrels for MKIIIs, although that is a smart idea (There may be a 10/22 in my future if I can ever get out of the city). Does Hero Gear perform this kind of work? Ballpark numbers for cost? Thanks much.
  13. Hey guys: I'm looking for some advice here. I've been thinking about a suppressed .22, and am considering my options. Option 1: Purchase a suppressed receiver and switch back and forth. Option 2: Sell the MKIII, and just purchase a complete suppressed unit. Probably another Ruger. Would purchasing one of these with the rest of the gun included be cheaper overall (Counting the $200 or so I'd get for the original gun?) Option 3: Just ASK the neighbors to keep their kids off my lawn. Kidding. My main reason for wanting one is "Just for the hell of it." So, I'm interested in hearing the ideas of others. Thanks.
  14. Thanks! A few thousand look like a good way to stimulate the economy next month.
  15. Anyone notice good surplus deals (e.g. CZ-52)?
  16. The GA reloads in 45acp seem to be one of the best bargains in bulk ammo for the caliber. Is there a general consensus regarding reliability?
  17. +1 for something Linux based. I've been using Ubuntu for a couple years, and will never go back.
  18. Anyone have recommendations for good sources of surplus CZ52s (or similar in the 7.62x25mm caliber)?
  19. The Rabbi seems universally recommended. I've only purchased from him once, but have received several quotes. His prices are excellent.
  20. I own a P345, and find it a reliable, inexpensive, and fairly accurate firearm. I guess the emphasis should be on reliable and inexpensive. It is my impression that Ruger intended the P345 as an update for the P90. It is slimmer, lighter, and reasonable (but not ideal) for concealed carry. It is certainly not a match grade pistol, but much better than a sharp stick.
  21. Hey Everybody- I've been in Nashville for a few years, and lurking these boards for a few months. I look forward to benefiting from (and hopefully contributing to) the wealth of information on this site.
