  1. I fully expect dancing in the streets here shortly after 11.
  2. Break-Free CLP (Bore Cleaning Solvent, Lubricant, Rust Preventative) 12 oz Aerosol - MidwayUSA Also comes in regular oil form and is available at WalMart as is aerosol RemOil which does wonders for blowing out grit. The gun is dirty.
  3. Looks like you had a great day! What type of hearing protection were you wearing?
  4. I certainly hope you are kidding.
  5. Let us know when you hear back from the friend you're selling it for.
  6. Did not see the part about holsters. Maybe as a package not an overall bad deal, if that's what you really want. Makarovs are somewhat of a niche gun. You either like the caliber/gun or you don't. I really like the CZ 82, it is the best gun in that caliber IMO. The Polish P-64's are excellent as well. I like the cheap ammo but you will not find $10-11 Silver Bear at any local gun store. Anywhere. Something to think about. I've never shot a Makarov pistol (as in design, not caliber) but the round itself is very snappy. Never get a FEG P-63. It will tear your hand up quickly.
  7. That appears to be a Russian Mak made in 1972 and that is also the extent of my knowledge on the matter. I'm thinking $400 may be a bit high but am no expert. What kind of ammo?

    Cheese

    I just cut it.
  9. What is this Oath everyone mentions? I've read a couple of different versions of the Modern Hippocratic and like everything else today, each version suits whatever one's argument might be. Mengele was a Nazi. Card-carrying scientist with unlimited lab resources. To compare Kervorkian to him is absurd IMHO. One destroyed for "science's" sake (or his own twisted theories). The other tried to help people leave a hopeless life with some dignity. If the day ever comes where I am in a situation that there is no hope I pray that someone will be there to remove the pain. Forever.
  10. Good grief, how did these rifles last 60+ years and now eveyone's messing them up. I store mine with the bolt open for what it's worth. Does that take tension off the delicate leaf springs? These rifles were stored in crates for longer than most of us have been alive, with the bolt closed and most likely "hammer down" (but we all know there is now hammer in a Mosin).
  11. Why do you ask Chang? We've given up on Kalifornia.
  12. There are no coiled springs in the trigger assembly of a Mosin. For reference....Mosin Nagant Rifle Exploded Views and Disassembly
  13. Yes. It can be done with any semi-auto if you are dexterous enough.
  14. and there will be one in Knoxville next weekend.
  15. Let the eternal debate resume.
  16. Great article! Many of the comments are exactly what I expected. Can't wait to see what they look like by the end of the day.
  17. How much is this going to cost us?
  18. She quit being Governor becuase the she couldn't cope with the pressure and numerous scandals in her "administration". She couldn't even handle a state of 700,000 and people seriously think she could be President. What a joke.
  19. Spam can of 7.62x54r = steel-cased surplus.
  20. I believe IMR 4895 is the powder to use.
  21. Often people comment on how dirty a certain brand of ammo is. It's all dirty AFAIK but sometime after using a certain brand, type or vintage you are left wondering "what did they put in this?" So what's the dirtiest, filthiest, most bore-fouling ammo you've ever used? Black powder doesnt' count. I'll start. About a year ago Palmetto had a deal on cases of Yugo 7.62x39. Case of 1260 rounds shipped for something like $199. I jumped at the opportunity to feed my Yugo SKS. Received said bewlitts several days later and anxiously opened the beat up crate. Inside was not a hermetically sealed can of Iron Curtain ammo packaged to last for generations but 84 flimsy white boxes with about 15 rounds apiece of brass cased, lead core, mildly corrosive Yugo ammo. Supposed to be some of the best (and it is). Looks like they were all picked up of some warehouse or cave floor and packed in those cheap boxes. Hands are filthy after loading up a stripper clip, finger black from grime. Each box of 15 has at least 3 or 4 years worth of headstamps, but that's ok as it all comes from the same factory, Prvi Partisan. When shooting the ammo it's like a musket going off. Smoke everywhere. I think they scooped up powder off the ground, mixed in some dirt, maybe sawdust and Serbian sweat for good measure. It is accurate and sure firing but dang, the clean up is a chore. Patch after patch of black.
