Just let me know when the next one is. I might be able to fit in between AAU Basketball and Soccer. The spring time is busy for my family. But I'd love to come up there! This was the first time I got to shoot a BUNCH of firearms in about 10 years. I used to go the range in Sevierville when I worked up there, but that was just pistol.

I took two of my kids out to the John Sevier Hunter Education Center today north of Knoxville. Fine casual shooting range BTW. The staff and Range Officers were very good and helpful! We had a great time! One thing did get my interest though. My kids are 14 and 9. I had to provide Id which I gladly did. No problem there. But I also had to give the TWRA Official my kid's Social Security Numbers which were entered into a computer. He said it was a Homeland Security Requirement. Is that true of all ranges? How many of you all have all your children's SSNs on you at anyone time? I had to call my wife who had them. I just thought it was a bit funny. I'm not a big fan of Homeland Security any way. It sounds and acts too much like something Hitler came up with in the 1930's.

MP40... What MP40? I never saw no MP40! Put it right back in the ground where it came from. I think if you tried to turn it in there would be a whole lot of questions asked and suspicions raised. Oh, and you might want to read up on caching over in the Survival Subform, prior to returning from wince it came. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16764 Just a though.

Got my kids out today and we went to the range. Took a Marlin .22 Bolt, Polytech M14 and the Highpoint and a couple of pistols. We had a ball! The Highpoint shot pretty well. I had a two inch group at 50 yards. I need to set down and really play with the 4X NCSTAR scope that's mounted on it. It was about 6 inches out to the right. The two hi-cap mags I bought for it were a little disappointing. One seemed to be good, the other had several miss feeds. The 10 shoot mag that came with it worked flawlessly. I'd read about the trigger pull being pretty stiff, but this one is not bad at all.

$179 is a good deal on one! You should have taken it. You'd have got that much out of it, if you didn't like it.

Well I was distracted by the Tennessee/LSU ballgame. You all must not be watching it. And the Glock should probably be placed in the top three.
-
Well, I have always heard that most experts do consider the CZ75 to be the best 9mm ever. I somehow don't see the High Point on that list though. I too have to question the lack of a Glock making that list. I know MSRP is higher on them but you rarely see them above $500.

If you all run across a Blue Norinco 1911 with a flat main spring housing, wood grips and a full length guide rod for sale in the Knoxville area, I'd appreciate it if you send me a message here. I had one stolen in when my house was broke into about 4 years ago. It was a great psitol. I'd love to have it back. I still have the box, so I have the SN too.

:koolaid:DANG!!! Something Wicked this way comes!!! That is definitely eviling looking! Glad I Bough my M14 last week or else other things would be sailing out the gun chest in order to purchase one of those!!! I wish they used M14 mags though. We might see a new supply of them come on the market! I think I'm reasonably certain that Mr. Schummer of New York ain't going to like these things one bit! He's a pile of !

Oh, I know how much it cost to build a match gun. Personally, if I were going to build a match gun, I'd probably go with an AR. It costs a lot less and from what I understand that's what everyone shoots now. When I was shooting with the Army Reserve Team here in Tennessee, we still shot the M14 NM, but the All Army Team was in the process of switching over to the AR. Some of our team members bought ARs to convert, but I didn't have the money to purchase one. I still love the feel of the M14 though and have always wanted another one since left the Army Reserve. This was my first chance to get one that I could afford. That's a nice looking setup there gcrookston! I hope you still get it out and shoot it from time to time!

New Speaker of the House: Rep. Kent Williams
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard on WNOX that the reason he did this was to get back at Munpower for coming into William's district and campaigning for and supporting another Republican during the primary. There is apparently bad blood between the two. Vengence can be a B#$%h sometimes! -
I just found out that the President-Elect has a website where citizens may post comments about some of the issues that he will be facing. One issue that we here are all concerned about is Gun Control. Please go to this site and state your opinion. Let President-Elect Obama know what we think! I do urge you to be polite and respectful. Here is the link. http://citizensbriefingbook.change.gov/ideas/viewIdea.apexp?id=087800000004tTu&srPos=0&srKp=087 You all also might want to do a search on this site. There seems to be several different Gun Control Issues out there!!!

All that is coming after the get done with the Firearms Mfgs.

Ok, so I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but what is the big deal about having a H&K upper not fit any other AR lower? It doesn't convert the rifle to full auto or anything does it?
-
Thanks you all! I was lucky enough to be issued one on the Army Reserve Team I used to shoot on. They were sweet! While I don't expect this one to be in the same ball park as that one, I still think it will be fun to take out and burn some ammo with. Just wish 7.62x51 wasn't so danged expensive!

Good luck with your quest. Personally, I don't ever see you finding a ragged out SP101. That has to be one of the ruggest revolvers every made. And you are spot on with your opinion of the Ruger Company. I think they've done more to hurt our cause than any other company in the market over the years. They do however make some really good firearms. I love my Mark II bull barrel. But right now I suspect it is the only Ruger I will ever own again... Well maybe a SP101 in .32 H&R Mag. I've always wanted one of those.

Sorry about that! I think I got it now. I was going to sleep with her tonight, but my wife said if I did, it would have to be on the couch. Guess Mabelle will have to become the Queen of my Safe! Thanks for the help guys!!!
-
I'm working on it!!! Obviously I'm doing something wrong!
-
I've been working on this deal for since the end of October with my boss and we finally got it done today! Without further adu, let me introduce to you, my version of Mabelle! Mabelle is a Polytech M14S. Nothing fancy!

Bought an Enfield and a Yugo today

Not to mention once you change out the bolt, you'll need to have the head space checked by a gun smith. Just have him change the firing pin out. -

Check with SARCO or Numrich Gun Parts. Odds are 9 in 10 that they have a firing pin for that Enfield. Here is SARCO's website. http://www.sarcoinc.com/ and here is Numrich Gun Parts. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/. I expect it would be kind of fun putting that old rifle to right! Nice looking old rifles BTW! -
It sounds cool! It's no big deal and can wait till you get back in from sea. I may hold on to my pennys and see just exactly what you do pull out of your closet!

I think the .22 makes a lot of sense. Right now, I'd probably go with my Highpoint 9mm Carbine and a Ruger Blackhawk Conversion in .357/9mm. The reason for the carbine is because it's a fairly small package (fits in a duffle bag), is in a convient caliber (you can find 9mm anywhere you can purchase ammo just about) and it runs flawlessly. I'd pick the Blackhawk for few moving parts to break, they never jam, same caliber as the Highpoint, and dual caliber means I can use three different calibers .38spl, .357 mag and 9mm. My second sidearm would be a Ruger II or III target pistol with a 6" barrel. That's for rabbits and such. I'd go with .22 rifle, but I want something bigger for defensive situations and I can't see me carrying two rifles if I were on foot. A shotgun might be a good choice, but the ammo weights too much. I thought of a bigger rifle, but I like being able to use ammo in both my long gun and my main pistol. Of course a lever action in .357 or another type of 9mm rifle would work just as well.

No problem. We should all get together for a shoot. I have a bubbadized Isaphore that I could bring out along with some .308. You don't happen to have some pics of that old Mauser do you?
