My understanding is also that the Ranger T series is practically the SAME EXACT THING. Minus the black coating of course. I've actually been reading a lot about the RA9T and the RA9TA. Ranger ammo sometimes sales pretty high because Winchester doesn't market it to "civilians", and most places won't sell it to non LEO. SGAMMO.COM is one place that sells them to civilians, and even though they are costly, they are nowhere near what that auction went for. Sometimes I wonder if things like this aren't a "fixed" auction to make people think that 500 rounds of Black Talon ammo is worth over 1k, and then actually sell it to someone that falls for it. Online bidding makes it easy to have a buddy with an account bid an outrageous price for personal gain.

Take this to heart: My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, Praying for you Ben.

There have been so many conversations of Romney vs. Obama on the 2nd amendment. I know who I am voting for. However, something that is a whole lot let talked about is who for local and state level elections is the most pro 2nd amendment. Although it isn't the only issue that concerns me when voting for someone, I would definitely say it is probably in the top 2 or 3 issues that concern me. I know most of your districts are different than mine, but someone has to be either my neighbor or someone else's neighbor. So for one, I'm posting a link to the sample ballot for Bradley County. Perhaps others can do the same. I'd just like to see some discussion about the candidates on the ballots. I'll be doing what I can to readup on them, but I always like some good dirty politics! So tell everyone which district you are in, and which candidate that you like/dislike and for what reason! http://www.bradleyelections.com/ElectionSchedulePDFs/SampleBallot.pdf

I was actually thinking of this, just didn't post it. Promise! Something like the M6 or the AR-7 would be awesome if it were a bit more functional than the AR-7. If I were buying it as a "survival rifle", I'd want it to be a bit more durable on the outside when it is in is "case". I'm thinking Magpul type polymer or something. Make it so you can run over it with a truck;) Seriously though, a .22 rifle that somehow stores in itself to become waterproof and float, while retaining accuracy and reliability, with the added ability to hold say, 200 .22lr rounds, would be AWESOME.

Just so everyone knows, the above photos are not entirely correct. I price matched a single Pmag from each of the mentioned sites. Well, SWFA automatically gives you a 10% Magpul disocunt, which "wasn't accounted for" in the price match. Thus, total is a bit higher. Oh well. 10% higher:(

Dropbox (Backup/File Sharing/Syncing) Windows/Mac/Linux Free
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Well admittedly it has been a while since I used it on Linux last (having switched to OSX), but I used Linux exclusively for a great number of years and I first started using Dropbox in Linux. From what I remember, it was dependent on what desktop environment you use, and what version of which distro you use. That was over a year ago though, and perhaps the Linux version hasn't kept up with updated distros. -
I use a service called Dropbox. It is great for syncing files between my work and home computer over the internet. They also have mobile clients for practically everything. Typically when you create a free account, you get 2GB of free storage. If you use the link I have provided below, I will get an additional 500MB and you will get an additional 500MB (for a total of 2.5GB). Get Dropbox (with 500MB additional storage) It also works PERFECT to post photos to forums such as this. Instead of placing the photos on a site such as Photobucket, all you have to do is place the photo in your "Public" folder, right click on the file, "copy public link", and then use that link the same way that you would a link from Photobucket or the like.

If anyone needs any Pmag's...
-
Just so everyone knows.....SWFA also has a 110% price match guarantee. I filled out a form on their site today for the Pmags...matching them to the Manventure site. They got back to me within 12 hours, and it looks as if you could get them for roughly $8.86 each if you purchase $15 of them. Unfortunately I was unable to enter into their form the 5% FTL coupon listed above for the Manventure price, however basically since it is a 110% price match, you are getting an additional 5% off. Now...I may call them tomorrow and see if they can match the coupon as well. But Magpul for under $9 each?!?! I priced 20 of them and they would be $8.70 shipped. http://swfa.com

I really love the feel of them. They make it very "slender". I haven't had a chance to shoot it with these VZ's, but I think I'm going to be very impressed! For those that missed it or want to know, these are the VZ Tactical Diamonds (Tiger Stripes). And IMHO, are worth every penny I paid for them.

I ordered a few PMAG's from your Manventure Outpost site. They should get here today. The wait got me thinking though, how prevalent are counterfeit PMAG's? Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the capabilities of buying power and the free market, but being able to buy them for roughly $10 each shipped is just amazing!

It's actually ironic that you would post this today. I actually just got home hoping that they would be here and they are! I will post a picture later when I get home again. For some reason I guess they don't make the "Frags" or the compact, but I agree that they look great. Will be carrying the rest of this evening with them. They do give it a bit slimmer profile!

Inside Waist Band Carry uncomfortable.
GlockSpock replied to Jesse's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
With my High Noon belt and High Noon Down Under holster along with my P-01, I find it very comfortable. I've even fallen asleep several times with it on and woken up without any regrets or discomfort. I suppose it depends on the following: Firearm, holster, belt, body type, carry location. -
I went ahead and purchased the VZ Tiger Stripe Compact G10 grips. I think they'll look great! Cannot wait to get em! Perhaps I'll post a picture whenever they arrive!
-
Mainly wondering if anyone in the Cleveland area has any VZ G10 grips (hopefully for a 75?). I'm looking at putting some on my P-01, and would like to handle some if at all possible. If noone in the local area has any VZ's, what do you all think of them? They have many great reviews on the internet. I'm hoping that they will make concealing a wee bit easier due to their thinner nature? I have a knife with G10 handles, I am also thinking it might not cause an overshirt to ride up as much as the stock rubber grips. Either of these the case?

Enemies: Theft and Rust (Firearm Storage at Home)
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
I wonder if anyone has ever tried taking on of these soft cases and applying some sort of silicone treatment? Something like spraying Remoil (or equivalent) on the contact surfaces ever few days for a few weeks? I suppose you wouldn't want to soak the material, but a "layer" and then air dry, theoretically the silicone would stay put right? Or is this all just foolish talk? -
The obvious answer is safe. However, I do not have one and do not wish to go through the hassle of purchasing one and having it installed in my rental house that I don't plan on staying in more than a year. Thus, I'd like some input and ideas on how to store a rifle and a few pistols that will keep them out of the way (of us), out of sight (from thieves), and clean (from rust). I was very close this morning to purchasing one of these two: http://www.castlerocktactical.com/crt_dc16.htm http://www.laruetactical.com/covert-rifle-case-mkII However I gave it a second thought and decided that soft cases like that would probably promote rust. I'd like to store the rifle and pistols along with some cleaning supplies, ammo, and some loaded magazines. Obviously there are many options if one does not mind spending money, and I'd love some recommendations of different products. If there is an option for it to be made in the USA, that'd be awesome. Mainly I'm hoping that some of you here will chime in on what you've done in the past and what to do and what not to do.

It really would just depend on what actually went on during the potential sale. If during the entire time of selection he [husband] was the one handling everything, discussing what he liked and didn't like, and then towards the end the conclusion was "she's going to buy this one", well that is probably sour and the Walmart guy is just trying to do his job. After all, you never know what sort of pressure has been put on him by management to avoid any possible straw purchases. If she was the one handling everything and it appeared she was trying to make a decision, then the Walmart guy made a huge error in making a decision. Keep in mind Walmart is also the place that refused to sell me a knife sharpener when I was 17. A knife SHARPENER. So it is obvious that they are bending over kneeling in hopes that they are not at all held liable for anything. Straw purchases are funny anyway. Anyone that cannot legally purchase a firearm knows how and where to find them. And anyone that cannot legally purchase a firearm that wants to purchase one NIB from the store knows that all they have to do is find someone willing to go into the store alone and then what store is going to deny the sell calling it a "straw purchase" then? I have actually seen the "straw purchase" rule prevent quite a few purchases that were probably legal. Such as a female at Walmart I overheard asking the attendant if it was ok if she purchase a firearm for her husband for Christmas. He called it a straw purchase and said that was illegal. As long as the recipient can legally own a firearm, it is my understanding that in this case it is legal. If he hounded her about not being able to handle it, that's not cool. But it is also possible he said something like "That's a lot of gun for a young woman like you, sure you can handle it?". After the denial, her and her husband may have exaggerated what was said and claimed is was discriminatory.

Posey's, just went in their the other day. Lot of stuff on the walls and in the cases, but I was hoping that they would stock larger selection of ammo and magazines. But I suppose $30 is as cheap as we can get it since we unfortunately have the check fee. $30 isn't bad, just wish we could have them for half that like some places in the country.

AR Accessory (Bipods, Lights, Lasers, etc) Holder/Stand!
GlockSpock replied to GlockSpock's topic in General Chat
Wow! Just comes to show you can sell anything. Kudos to him. It is actually a very awesome piece, I just cannot justify it but maybe someday. I'm also sure that ThinkGeek has quite a nice markup. -
Finally I found something that works! Just for those of you that don't know what to do with your accessories Seriously though, I'd buy one if it were about 20% of the current price! http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/edfc/?cpg=47832954&msg_id=47832954&et_rid=508493335&linkid=47832954_headline_edfc

Silvers, the one shop in town I have never been to. Good thoughts though! Sidenote: Fugates claimed when I talked to them about it she would have to charge me salestax. I personally have never actually had an item transferred from the internet, but it is my understanding that if you were to purchase the item from out of state and have it shipped to your FFL, all the FFL does is transfer + background check. Is this correct?
-
I am pretty sure it is $30 plus the $10 transfer fee/tax.
