  1. Btw, I'll be making one also. Just wanted to make that clear lol
  2. I told you guys I would get to it, sorry it took so long. This is the TGO knife in the hat. The rules are below, but basically you make or buy a knife that fits the guidelines, before the specified date. Once you have the knife made or bought, post a picture to show you have it, and your name will be throw in the hat. Post here so that we have an ideal of participation before as soon as you know you'll participate. And away we go: Knife type: Small utility knife Overall length should be less than 10" Blade length should fall under the 4" requirement Price: Knife should be valued between $40-$100 dollars Knife must be bought or made and boxed, ready for shipment by Dec. 1st. Names will be matched before Dec. 5th, and knives should be shipped no later than Dec. 10th. Any questions ask here. This is meant to be fun, and to be something like a secret Santa for Knife enthusiast.
  3. Naw I don't mind lol. It needs to be tested to see what it can withstand. That way I'll know if I'm tempering to hard, or to soft, if my steel is tough enough, etc. Remember the only rules after you get it are good pictures, and an honest review of what you did and didn't like, and what the knife does, and doesn't do well. Also sign the deerskin the knife is wrapped in, and pass it on. As of now the list stands as: TrickyNicky (Shipped to him this morning 10/22/2012) Maroonandwhite BJB Broomhead
  4. I don't know how we could remedy that honestly. My parents don't want to have people coming in and out of the house that they don't know. If we had a setup like we do at my house, where the garage can be locked out, it'd be different. May seeing about an outhouse, if we can get more participation. We will be doing it again, along with a lot of one and two day blacksmithing
  5. No its not, I'm leaving it open until I have it back from BJB or someone else request it. If it gets passed around for 6 months its not gonna hurt my feelings. You wanting in?
  6. Leatherwork is fine with me. We can do that after we forge all day
  7. Cutting 1 gallon water bottles in half Vertical cutting water bottles Vertical cutting aluminum Coors light pints full of water Just thought I'd throw up a video while I was beating on it a lil.
  8. Once again, after the initial success of two hammer ins, My dad and myself are opening up the Flatwoods Forge to anyone who would like to learn to forge steel. We are gonna start doing it different. Because of only having one anvil, and one forge, we are going to limit it to 2 people per weekend. Now I'm opening this up for every weekend between now and Feb. So hopefully anyone who would like to do this, gets a chance too. 1 or 2 day class option, with primitive camping onsite. You will need to provide food and drink for yourself, we provide the campsite, and plenty of firewood. We can provide the steel, but most of our stuff is scrap we have collected. Leaf springs, coil springs, both of which make good knives. We also have railroad spikes, horseshoes, and different pieces of square, round, and rectangle stock. Good steel such as 1084 is optional, we can order it and you can pay us at the class, or you can order it and bring it with you, from newjerseysteelbaron.com. See examples below to see what can be done in a 2 day weekend with a good effort. Please post here AND send me a PM if your interested and we will get you scheduled and setup. Thanks guys. Jordan Flatwoods Forge These knives were all done in two days or less Zombie cleaver 5160 truck leaf spring, leather wrapped handle. 22" overall, 15" blade Fighting Bowie 1084 from website above, Burmese Rosewood handle, 19.5" overall, 13.5" blade Camp Bowie 5160 truck leaf spring, seasoned oak through tang handle, 15" overall, 10" blade
  9. Bowie is on its way to nicky. Thanks guys
  10. Yeah, I understand stuff stands in the way pretty often. If everyone keeps bring railroad spikes, I'm gonna be able to start laying track soon lol. Dan brought down several last time, and George brought several this time. They are fun to play with, and make some good designs.
  11. Its got a professional edge on it. Part if the test is seeing how long it'll go before needing sharpening. If it does need a sharpen, just do what you can and dont sweat it
  12. Trickynicky.its on its way to you tommorow
  13. Everyone who showed up on saturday. George (Gjohnsoniv), Dan (Broomhead), Dan's dad Steve, John (Jaxjohn) and his son. We will be hosting small one day hammer in's from time to time, so keep your eyes open. And look out for the next TGO rendezvous coming in march-april
  14. I wanna die fighting a grizzly bear with a bowie in my hand if it has to be by wild animal. That way I would still go out fighting.

  16. Smokey is the most desolate and dangerous place ive ever been. You either no someone or stay out. And i grew up in new river/ graves gap.
  17. As far as other classes it depends on if dave shows or not. We are gonna fix breakfast sat. Morning about 830 and will probably fire the forge around 900 am. We will lay the trade blanket out after lunch in the early afternoon and keep them out as long as possible.
  18. I have no problem including you bjb. The post count is to kerp people with 1 or 2 post and bad intentions from even asking. Im gonna leave this open. Ill send it to tricky nicky monday. From there to maroonandwhite, then to bjb. If noone else wants it, it'll come back to me

  20. That looks reslly good. I like, I like
  21. I hope that saves hershel
  22. 13 minutes until the new season. Hell yes
  23. Damn that sucks. Oh wrll I understand keeping OL's happy, thought I told mine if she plans anything this weekend, she better plan it alone lol. I have a couple confirmed and a few votes, so if worse comes to worse we will have 2 or 3 anyways
  24. Kids are great. Kids that don't listen on a routine basis in a bad situation need to get a good whipping with a belt or switch. And they don't need to interfere in situations dealing with survival when there are mote capable adults around.
  25. 5 days left till the primer TGO campout of 2012. Come on out and have some fun.
