Marlin 60 when I was 7, and an H&R Topper 12 gauge when I was 9. I thought my Grandmother hated me for a while after she gave me that mule kickin' SOB. lol I still have both, and wouldn't get rid of 'em for anything. I hope to pass 'em down, purely because of the sentimental value.

I don't know about VOW in Cleveland now, but they were great when Dan owned the shop. As a matter of fact, I drove the miles from Signal just to do business with 'em, including 7 firearms, and had 2 parkerized. I would imagine they would want to keep that reputation. Skip's is cool as well. He ffl'd a Blackhawk for my Father-in-law. Don't know that he has his shop open now?

TK, he owns Carter's shooting supply on highway 58. With his personality, people usually either dislike him, or just plain hate him .

I'm not, but whatever means necessary is the only thing that the terrorists seem to understand. I'm pretty sure we can't "nice" information out of 'em.

Maybe hypothetical for you, but there were a ton of people who had family in the twin towers. If there could have been information prior to the attacks attained through interrogation, don't you think those families would have, in retrospect, had a problem with one person being waterboarded to save 3,000+ people. I understand that it's all hypothetical as far as that goes, but what if that information could save thousands of lives in the future? War is hell, and if you intend to engage in war, be prepared to pay hell. Right or wrong, it is what it is. I also understand everyone has a strong opinion on this issue, and that's mine.

If your looking for something that performs well for a low price, try Bushnell's 3-9 rimfire scope. I have one mounted on my Marlin 60, and love it. Definitely a good little scope. The low price ($39 bucks or so) is just icing.

Anyone who really rails aginst some of the techniques we used must not have a family. Someone take that persons wife or kids, give them a person that knows where they are, and the things they would physically do to that person to find his family would make Dick Cheney weak at the knees.

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
Good_Steward replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
LOL! Coconut juice and 151 rum! (plus some cheesy posing brought about by said mixture) -
lol! I love the fact that he's so modest!

Wal-Mart at the bottom of Signal Mountain had about 30 or so of the Federal .223 "valu-packs" (100 ct) for $39.99. Also had some Remington .223 and .22-250.

enfield, I will say that Tim Gobble is a fine man who is good to his word. He served on the city council in Cleveland before he ran for Sheriff, and worked for the secret service for years before that. The man has an outstanding track record, and I honestly think he would be a fantastic replacement for Zach Wamp. plus, the fact that he sued Bradley County over the lack of funds provided for his department just makes him even better in my book for looking out for his officers. He really came in and shook up the "Good Ol' Boy" club in Cleveland when it really needed shaking up.

Welcome from right outside Chattanooga!

Good looking boy, Tom! I had actually looked at the cricket .22 for my son's first rifle, but came across a fantastic deal on the Mossberg 702 "plinkster" right before Christmas 2 years ago (it was $79 at a post-Thanksgiving sale at Dick's). I've seen a few threads where parents are teaching their children about firearms and firearm safety. It makes me proud of all those gun owners. It also makes me wonder how many of the anti-gun nuts grew up in a household with weapons, yet were never familiarized with them. You now what they say about fearing what you don't understand.

Congratulations to your son. There's nothing quite like the pride a father takes in his child, and I guarantee the firearms training had paid off well before the competition.

beat up 12 gauge I got in TGO classifieds...REMIX!
Good_Steward replied to Ghooge2008's topic in Show and Tell
Good job, Ghooge. The caliper paint almost makes the gun look parkerized in the pics. -
I agree. My son is 8 now, and has been around firearms and reloading all his life. He knows his way around pretty well for his age, but the teaching opportunities (and learning for that matter) are always there. Plus, it's a great way to spend time doing something we both enjoy. I have a 4 month old daughter also, and I look forward to teaching her as well.

These are a few pics of my son from when I took him and my Father-In-Law to Prentice Cooper last weekend. It was his first time to shoot the AK, and he nearly agrravated me to death to go shoot it while we were shooting pistols. Lot of fun, and it really makes you think about how shooting is handed down from generation to generation. I hope one day to be the grandfather helping to pass down knowledge (and telling the grandchild how daddy does it wrong) lol Devin at the gun range slideshow by Good_steward - Photobucket

And doing it in Hangcock errrrr, Bangkok?
-
Nice, strickj! I was interested in this gun as well, but I couldn't let myself get sidetracked from the .22-250 I wanted. You'll have to come up to Prentice Cooper and let me test it out for ya! lol
