1. the colorado shooting is what woke me up and made me get my carry permit. this shooting absolutely breaks my heart. with three small children myself, i cannot imagine the pain and grief facing these parents. may God bless you and your and your family and keep his gentle hands on you during this time. while no immediate comfort, know that your child is perfectly safe and happy with their heavenly father. my family's thoughts are with you.
2. cbs news is reporting he used a stolen ar-17? typo? http://m.cbsnews.com/storysynopsis.rbml?pageType=general&catid=57558773&feed_id=999&videofeed=999
3.
Behold the conspiracy theory has been found to be untrue. There is really a 100 round 45 value pack and here it with its even more illusive little brother the 9.
i always have a hard time hunting the value pack of 9's, but yesterday ran across 5 boxes in my local walmart. they also had 2 of the .223 value packs. not enough $$ to adopt them all, but the .223 did find a new home.
4. nice looking rifle. i am in the same boat, as i just bought my first ar and have not had a chance to take it out. i went with the m&p sport after dolomite's glowing reviews. need to add some additional mags, but this is my first rifle of any kind and am excited to see how it is. which bushnell optic did you put on? an optic will be my first addition down the road and i'm looking for something with "high value" (read: relatively inexpensive).
5. i just picked mine up last night. had it transferred to d&t from florida. $679 + $20 (shipping), $25 (transfer), and tics came to $734. this is my first rifle, so been looking at the sport for a while. election night i found one for $630, but could not get the approval from "she who must be obeyed". the next night i looked again and the same vendor had marked it up to $699. i hope the prices come down, but did not want to wait and see.
6. here is the tenneseean article covering the event with pics and video. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20121118/NEWS01/311180074/-Gift-Cards-Guns-event-South-Nashville-nets-91-weapons

9. federal hst in 124gr. carried in an m&p compact. did a lot of reading before deciding on a defense load. came down to the hst and ranger t.
10. ordered one for myself this afternoon. first gun belt for this new hcp holder. thanks for the good review.
11. thanks, guys. i did pick up a crossbreed supertuck which seems to work well, at least around the house. the belt is next on my list. by the way, was surprised to find the hcp in the mail this afternoon. 15 days from application to mailbox. apparently i have lived a pretty boring life. here's to keeping it that way.
12. mine surprised me in the mail this afternoon. 15 days from application to mailbox.
13. been lurking here for almost a month and glad to have found this board. the aurora colorado shooting (and then subsequent incidents in east nashville) hit me like a ton of bricks. i have three small children and realized i am not prepared to protect them as i should be. i decided it was time to take the responsibility of our protection seriously. researched ccw and bought the s&w m&p 9c, took the hcp class on 8/05, filed paperwork and prints on 8/06 and am now waiting for the permit to arrive. now it's practice, read, practice, practice. need to find another class to take my next steps. thanks for all of the great info you have been providing. i will keep lurking and learning, and will jump in when i have a question or relevant input.
