  2. in 2000 i went to live in brooklyn with a friend of mine from high school. i left late 2000 or early 2001. (can't remember exactly) at the time of the attack she lived in brooklyn and worked in new jersey. her last subway stop before jersey was to change trains in the wtc station. it took days for me to get in touch with her to make sure she was ok. she was standing on the platform when the first plane hit. she says that the ground shook, and a short time later someone started shouting about a bomb going off. she ran out of the station with everyone else in the panic. she was standing two blocks from the towers, in the doorway of a church, when she heard the second plane. she watched as the second plane hit the tower. she has nightmares to this day of the people jumping from the towers. i texted her earlier today to check on her. she avoids the news this time of year, but is doing much better focusing on the "good things". 9. resurrecting an OLD thread to say thanks. we had some tree work done today, and this thread saved me big time. won't name names, but had the only tree service i had experience with out to provide a quote. thought to get a second opinion, and searched the forum for any old posts. called steve with apex based on several posts in this thread. could not have been more pleased. great price, great service, but a great guy to boot. just wanted to add this in case anyone else ever searches old threads for help. now back to the basement with you!
  10. http://trex-arms.com/ just found this site for a company in centerville. i know nothing about them, but they have some good looking products on their site.
  11. i am no fan of debt either. i also am no financial guru, but see no problem with a home equity loan in your situation. the amount is small enough that murphy won't hurt you too bad if he comes for a visit. you may also talk to your realtor about your situation. with the market as you describe, the updates may be unnecessary.
  12. pawn shops around nashville ARE required to compile a daily listing of ALL merchandise taken in and report that to the metro pawn division. the report includes all the information on the person pawning the item (name, dl#, description), and the item itself ( sn, description, etc). picking up a firearm out of pawn requires a background check through tics just as if you were purchasing. people who pawn firearms get UPSET when they are denied getting them back. most pawnshops are very careful not to unknowingly accept stolen items. the shop loses the money they loaned when the item is recovered by police.
  13. that's really great. i have to say that i greatly admire the little have learned of your family through your posts. thanks for sharing.
  14. reminded me of this one. pretty quick access. https://youtu.be/IRUw3R5kZtk
  15. you know the toothbrush was invented in alabama. otherwise it would have been called a "teethbrush".
  16. go ugly early. pick up a glock right out of the gate. you can try for that 1911, but always have a fall back.
  17. wanted to make all the tgo parents mindful of unfairly disadvantaging other children. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/417997/professor-if-you-read-your-kids-youre-unfairly-disadvantaging-others-katherine-timpf this guy is a professor (of philosophy, i assume). this might be the biggest load of crap i have read in a while; and that's really saying something.
  18. this is such a bizarre scene. did you notice that the shot officer racks the slide of his weapon several times and pulls the trigger. you can hear the "click" of the trigger. then, when being tended to, appears to reload.
  19. http://m.williamsonherald.com/mobile/news/article_27b591be-d8b9-11e4-a073-dbf291d8b70c.html saw this article in my driveway this morning. school system now claiming that this bill will no longer allow them use of parks.

  22. my father just finished reading my copy of "one second after". he emailed me this morning to ask about solar generators. this is the specific product: http://www.earthtechproducts.com/goal0-emergency-solar-essential-kit.html i know next to NOTHING about solar power. anyone with a good understanding of solar want to chime in on this or other product packages? also, is there a reputable resource for complete novices that you would recommend for my father and i to learn the basics and understand what he needs/wants? this is a good opportunity for he and i to learn at the same time. any information is greatly appreciated.
