  1.   I asked her about Sundays but they don't open until noon and it's also by far their busiest day. Also I have heard from folks including one above that will be driving a ways to get here and Sunday didn't make sense to the for the 3 that sent me PM's
  2. Hope you can make it up for it. We'll make a day of it I'm sure so at least you won't be driving so far to shoot for an hour or two.
  3.      I will plan to get out there by 9am (unless anyone wants to get out there earlier than that). I guess sometime between now and then we'll need to settle on some way to locate one another as cell service can be fairly sketchy out there of course it is't like the place is so big that we couldn't figure it out on the fly.
  4.      There's always more than one way to skin a cat huh.. As long as the end result is the same for you, I say it's a good way of doing it.
  5.  I typed this out yesterday but I guess I never hit "post".    I talked to the folks at The OK Corral yesterday about any possible area closures on the 19th. I told her that a group of folks from the gun forum I am part of would like to come out but were concerned that groups could have parts of the places rented out, She said that they had nothing on the calender for that day and went ahead and marked it down that we would be coming so that nothing would be scheduled. She asked if I wanted her to reserve us anything in particular but since I figured folks would be shooting pistols, shotguns and rifles I told her I didn't think so but she did tell me that if I changed my mind to just come by or give her a call. If anyone thinks we need to have anything reserved then please let me know and I will get in touch with her but she said that Saturdays are very much less crowded than Sundays, especially if we came out in the morning.    I got to do a bit of shooting with Sonny and a couple of his friends and asside from it being unseasonably hot for October we had a good time. Enjoyed meeting you fellas and look forward to meeting more of you on the 19th.
  6. Ridicules! This admin. is spending so much money to forcibly shut down things that din't cost anything in the first place. I pray each night that there will be an awakening the next day and will continue doing so. The stuff going on right now is so bad/wrong that Ray Charles could see through it yet anyone that supported Obama to start with is to proud to admit they were wrong and join the good fight.

    .223/5.56?
  8. Attention anyone looking to build 300blk out of their lower and intend to load for it, there's a guy selling dies, brass and projectiles in the classifieds   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/71098-300blk-brass-bullets-dies/
  9.    A man after my own heart!
  10.   The one the JP rep at the 3gun pro/am at Rockcastle was showing me theirs. Unless you knew what you were looking for it looked like the barrel was turned down with the comp machined into it but he spun it off and told me that one wasn't supposed to have one. I'm guessing that if you were instaling it on another barrel it might need one though. It was super clean looking!
  11.    I tend to leave Locktite in the tube because I like being able to take stuff off when I take the notion. I have noticed the JP brakes have no crush washer so they may need a drop but I don't know what they suggest. I had a heck of a time taking the A2 of of my .223/5.56 and it had no Locktite so I can only imagine what it would have been like if it had! I might have had to ask several of you to come over to help!
  12. I see folks that have never built an AR before asking for help (probably wise),I'm in Murfreesboro and I'll offer my help to anyone in my area or that wants to come to the area. If there are multiple folks needing help with it we can gather at our warehouse and walk through it all a few times so that everyone is comfortable.
  13.    YES on the torque wrench! I was thinking AR specific and left that out. I also use the painters tape (the green if you have it), I usually fold up some new print or some kind of paper and tape it to the left side of the receiver for installing the bolt catch roll pin which allows you to slide the hammer down the side to drive the pin without scratching anything. I don't have any roll pin punches and have never scratched a receiver doing it this way. My tools and about $40,000 worth of 4 wheeler mowers surveying equipment etc... was stolen and I have just never picked up another set of roll pin punches but will next time I see a set.
  14. Excellent Sunday afternoon activity!
  15. I can definitely tear up some ice cream but i'd say Twizzlers is the best candy, whichever flavor.
  16.    Sounds like almost identical increases as were indicated on the packet my wife brought home 6months ago and then about that much more on the packet she brought home 2 weeks ago! The deductible has more than doubled, the flex spending account was almost cut in half and the premiums have more than doubled.. We're in a sad state of self destructiveness and i'm afraid "we the people" aren't going to come to until it's to late.
  17.     Punches, upper vise block, workbench with vise, AR Wrench and that should get you together. There are little tricks here and there but someone would have to show you in person BUT if you have these tools, you can put your rifle together. Directions and youtube videos will be your friend the 1st time through but after that you will be Golden!
  18. I've been meaning to add one to the last 4 Amazon orders but always forget. Pretty cool looking.
  19. I don't think you can go wrong with either of this choices then. Another option for you, I was at the range with Sonny and a couple of his friends today and one if them had an ak74 that had had the opportunity to run a little. I had not run anything chamber in 5.45x39 before but that was a very very soft shooting gun. It's almost got me reconsidering a pistol caliber for my wife due to extremely cheap ammo and it not having much more recoil than the two pistol cal. AR's that I've run. I think they said that they picked up 1080 rounds for $150 or so! Can't beat tgat with a stick.
  20. I was planning to run out there to ask them about whether or not any of the ranges would be completely taken up in a couple of weeks when we talked about going so I may meet up with you and shoot a bit. I'll pm you my number.
  21. I'm not 100% sure, I think the CMMG or Rock River pistol caliber uppers are standard AR15 upper receivers that have a Brass deflector that is forward of the original covering a portion of the ejection port. Maybe LumberJack has researched it enough to be able to say for sure?
  22. How old do you think they will be when you will feel comfortable giving them to them? Or rather teach them to shoot them? Whether you think you will allow them to start shooting at 8yrs or at 12yrs makes a difference. Also going with a pistol caliber or even a .223/5.56 would be okay because you could always throw a .22lr conversion in them until you think they are ready to move up. That may be the best idea because you could use them in a caliber of your choice and then throw a .22 conversion in when they are ready or even just build new uppers to suit their needs and abilities.
  23.    Yea I've factored that in to my decision making process but even with the extra speed it will still have a pretty good drop. I'm still on the fence with it because I think it would seldom be used past 50yds. One the I omitted from the scenario is that at the 100yd distance we were shooting at a 3/8' steel plate and a full size truck brake rotor at 130yds. Shooting my cast lead bullets the .45 was rocking straight through the 3/8" steel plate at 100yds every time and through the brake rotor most of the time (when you hit it lol) but the 9mm was leaving a good dent but never pierced it.  Sounds like the 10mm is plenty stout! I'll have to find someone local that has one that I can shoot.
  24. It would depend who's upper you bought I suppose. Unless there is something I don't know about, if you use and ar15 lower then you will use an adapter that slides the the mag well which accepts stick mags. I would recommend sticking with one that accepted glock mags as they seem to be the cheapest and most available.
