  1.   For some reason unknown to me they went up right along with AR's and ammo after Sandy Hook. I stopped by the Nashville gun show a week or so afterwards and while I waited in line (for a long time) I watched person after person pouring out of there carrying ammo cans! I got inside and saw .223 for well over a dollar per round at most tables and pretty much no AR's or AK's so I figured they much have had money burning a hole in their pockets and nothing to spend it on...?
  2.    Well in full disclosure, I went through a time when doing things the right way was the furthest thing from my mind but I did see how that worked out and started changing some things because when you come out on top of a dishonest transaction, someone else got the short end and that's not a good thing to have hanging over your head. Changing habits isn't always an easy thing to do and they die hard but I will say, every time I did something the right way, it came that much easier the next and pretty soon that is a main concern in any transaction be it business or personal. But like you hit on, there's always someone watching, maybe another human or maybe the man above but your always being watched.   The Obama's have no qualms we being the cause of another man's pains, troubles and failures and most of the members of congress are in the same boat with them. I think We The People collectively have let our good practices slip by the way side to the point that dishonesty, lack of morals and poor ethics are the norm. I think that is why "We" sit back quietly because who wants to be the one to chastise them for something we ourselves do. It does strike me as funny though, we're willing to let everything good go to pot but by all means we don't want to be a hypocrite!
  3.  My .243 is a Mauser 98 action rather than a Rem. 700 but I have had really good luck using IMR4064 and AA4064. I tried some 100gr flat back Sierra soft points and they offered excellent velocity consistency (5 shot groups with 3fps S.D. ) but only mediocre accuracy at best. I have loaded some 55gr? boat tail Hornady Vmax for coyote and they have proven to be quite accurate but i've not had the chance to run them over a chrony. I've not used the powder or the bullets that you asked about but figured I would throw out some info for future reference if needed.
  4.       x2 what Mike said^ the lines on these uppers and lowers aren't going to lend themselves well to building an A2 rifle. If I was going to build an A2 and had another AR in the safe, I would move the billets over to that rifle and use the forged for the A2 build. Of course that's my opinion and I have nothing concrete to base that on, plus a "retro meets modern" rifle might be cool..
  5.   Were you using one of those waffle headed Estwing framing hammers? If not, you weren't using the right tool for the job.
  6.    I'd have a hard time saying it better myself! I completely agree, lack of honesty, integrity and a good strong character makes any man (or woman) unfit for any office or anything else for that matter. I dare to say that there is no one on earth right now that has never succumbed to the temptation to compromise those three things but what separates the trustworthy from the not is who owns their mistakes and tries not to repeat them and who gets away with it and becomes even more emboldened to keep doing it again and again.. It's a sad time we live in....
  7. Having an "inside man" always makes it easier to get the inside track, that's for sure. When I had my business in Florida, part of what we did was building retaining and sea walls in which some of those were constructed along roadways. At the time, my first cousin was one of the top engineers for the state and we had many opportunities to place bids as a formality and get the job no matter where we fell in the bid order as well as it being fairly easy to find out what others had bid through another person well known to me. Even though there was a lot of extra money to be made going that route my uncle and myself made the decision to resist the temptation of going that route and I never once regretted it. That being said, there is only a small percentage of folks that would choose the route we did. If there is this kind of temptation on the local and state level, I can only imagine the kind of tempting " deals" one would come across at the federal level. Now introduce the lack of character that liberals and many republicans bring to the table and you land right where we are today, back door deals everywhere you look, lowly citizens be damned. I wouldn't have expected anything more out of the morally bankrupt and characterless Obama's.
  8.    You are correct, especially in an employers market like we find ourselves in. My problem isn't so much that someone connected to the Obama's got the contract but rather they were awarded the contract without going through the bid process. I have done many jobs for the state of Florida and and the counties and towns within as well as a few for Georgia and Alabama and every single one of them required that any interested parties go through the bidding process. Every one of the bids we put in we could have done for 35%-45% less if it were a private job rather than government. So pretty must any job done for the government is padded like this even when there is competition so imagine how it is when someone is allowed to forego the bid process... Not to mention, Obama and his minions can spec everything out just the way they want it and no one else ever gets to see the details... The government should never be allowed to contract work out and spend tax payer dollars without going through the bidding process! This is yet another slap in the face of We The People and yet there are far to many of us that are okay with getting our cheek stung!    Oh yea, Happy Saturday everyone lol
  9.    I'm not sure. I just got home about 1 1/2hrs ago (been longs days all week)  But I just sent a message to a deputy friend of mine to see what I need to do to get a look at it all to determine if any of it belongs to me. I'm not getting my hopes up but Cranor Road is only about 3 miles from my house so hopefully he'll get back to me with good news.... we shall see..
  10.    Just noticed something, You say you have a 2 ton PRESS... I'd leave the press out of the equation, the pins on any lower require nothing more than light taps with a small hammer but the way I understand it, these don't use the pins (at least not the bolt catch pin).  If you meant 2 ton VISE then I apologize.
  11.    You can bet I won't come to help kill off the hundreds that will most certainly be on the fellow's property that tried to disguise capitalizing on the hogs as a lease. He had anywhere from 30-40 that would tear through his fields on any given day and seeing as how 1 male and 1 female can be responsible for 100 piglets a year.... he's going to be in a mess with the folks he buys crop insurance from tells him to kiss it..
  12. Yep, even some of the Minonites have learned to profit off of it. Started off with a standing invite to kill them but as soon as he saw some of the others in the area charging to kill them he wanted to discuss a lease. I'll let the hogs fold every last corn stalk he's got to the ground before I do business like that. I'll just wait a few more years and they'll be in my backyard because their growth is far out running the amount being taken out. Until then I'll go to Florida if I want to shoot some.
  13. Due to A$$hats trapping and relocating hogs so that they could charge for hunts in conjunction with completely moronic TWRA and law makers, wild hogs are allowed to run rampant and free to reproduce year round. That is unless you get to know a farmer that has a hog problem and he adds you onto his list.
  14.    Not sure what comicon is but it's hard to beat a day at the range, especially with good company.
  15.    It seems everyone was to busy shooting and talking to take any pictures. I honestly never thought about it and was completely preoccupied with it all until I realized that I was going to be cutting it really close to make it to the wedding I was supposed to be going to.
  16.    I guess we didn't realize it at the time but TGO members and friends brought along by them had the entire rifle range occupied at one point!
  17. Here's something that may be handy for folks about to build a rifle    http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=47316890&msgid=387669&act=YDC6&c=724433&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ar15.com%2Fgunstruction%2F   ar15.com has built  an "AR 15 3-d builder" with 700+ different parts to choose from. It also adds up your build cost using either MSRP or their regular prices, I didn't pay attention to that. It seems to give a good final rendering of what the gun will look like when completed with your parts in your chosen color.
  18. Well if you go that route, I'll just have to let you go it alone lol
  19. Cool concept! Maybe we need to do an "NFA/ATF rain dance" to speed up the process.
  20. I had one thing typed out and then the thought of the NSA "protecting" us rolled through my head so I modified the post. I left it up to you guys to figure it out and it would appear you did so.
  21.   32yrs old and eaten up with arthritis, deteriorated joints and degenerative disease in 3 vertebrae among other things.. Needless to say, I was extremely active for a long time, between basketball, motocross and a couple really really bad car wrecks I ended up with some issues. I had a lot of fun and so far I still don't regret it although I doubt whether it was worth it a little more each day.. Owe well, I have way more good days than I have bad so I'm still in the good.
  22.      One could only hope that upon seeing all of them, she would pass out and hit her head on the corner of a table on her way to the floor then wake up and not remember what a B!+(H she is and turn over a new leaf.... Hey a man can dream can't he? Who am I kidding... stupid is ground into her DNA so she'd just bounce back to where she is now.
