  1. Is Naifeh on that committee? Or are we going to have to hold our breath and hope that he doesn't do the same thing he did to the restaurant carry bill last year?
  2. She's also the silly congresscritter who introduced a high capacity magazine ban the day of the shootings at VTech, which also, if my read on Thomas.gov was correct, reintroduces the 94 Ban as well. I still don't get how New Yorkers can re-elect her every two years... Mine not to reason why, mine to start making phone calls to my state and national congresscritters.
  3. Before you click the link, I want you to think for a moment, do you know what a barrel shroud is? Do you know what it does? Did you answer yes to both? Congratulations, you're more knowledgeable about the subject of firearms than Representative McCarthy (D-4 NY) is. Rep. McCarthy is the congresscritter who introduced a bill to renew the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994, and expand it back in February. If you ever wondered why anti-gun bills get introduced by silly anti-gun politicians, here's your answer: They don't know what they're sponsoring or proposing to be law. Instead of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?", can we have a TV show called "Are you smarter than a politician?" http://www.deletedyoutube.ftvteen.com/?v=ospNRk2uM3U
  4. Another print out worth keeping in the car. The law wasn't that confusing to me, but clarification from the TN AG is always useful. Just like the one I have on the legality of open carry.
  5. I meant the range & gun shop info could go in a second sub-database. It's true enough that the review system can easily handle this, but not in the manner I was thinking of. The database query could be based off of postal code or what have you, and then pull up all ranges or shops within a certain distance with a short blurb giving name, address, phone #, hours, and anything else that would be pertinent.
  6. http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Split_Decision/split_decision.html Personally, I prefer one of the CompTac tuckable holsters or the Galco Skyops for IWB carry. Lately, I've just been carrying OWB for comfort, and the weather was still relatively cold, so wearing an extra shirt wasn't a big issue.
  7. In about 4-6 weeks, you should have your permit. Use it often.
  8. Sometimes I think GlocKingTN changes guns almost as fast as towerclimber changes avatars.
  9. Some form of easily search-able database that we can enter the information (and pictures of the signs) on places that are off limits for carrying, and where we could put the important information on gun shops and ranges and what not in Tennessee(hours, how much they charge for a transfer, phone number, location, etc).
  10. On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Centrist (53). On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Moderate Conservative (70).
  11. Not really, the author was impressed with the facility though. He commented more the once on how well prepared and knowledgeable the staff was. He also said he shot around 5000 rounds of ammo through his M4 during his time there. And on one simulation, the author took 16 loaded M4 magazines with him, and only had a partial magazine remaining at the conclusion of the exercise. It's worth the $6 to pick up the magazine. It's also got a review of the new Barrett M82 carbine in it as well.
  12. Mine is probably a lurker on here by now, and I'd rather not be smothered in my sleep one night.
  13. I picked up the current issue of Combat Arms today, on page 88 was a review of Tactical Response's High Risk Civilian Contractor Medical Package class. Interesting read, and I thought some people might like to read it for yet another opinion on Tactical Response if they're contemplating making the trip to Camden for some training.

    FFL transfers

I think it's because they don't make as much money on the deal, and some seem to think you're insulting them by saying they charge to much on something.

    FFL transfers

Byrd's here in the Tri-Cities will do transfers for $25 including background check when the gun has to be shipped to them.
  16. Too many guns is what happens when you've run out of space to store them all in your house. At that point, you either need to give some of them to your friends, or to me, I'm not very picky, I'll shoot anything at least once, or buy a bigger house so you can have more room for expansion of your collection. (= And there is no such thing as too much ammo.
  17. You know you just want to pick up some AK's with various stocks and lots of high capacity magazines for them. And the uber cheap Wolf black box ammo works just fine in them! You can't lose.
  18. To partially quote Arthur's Hall of Viking Manliness, "As I write this, brand new Romanian semi-auto only AK-47s and AK-74s can be purchased for $350-450. At that price, you should have several, so any guests you have during the Collapse can be outfitted as they receive Enlightenment." This goes for Mosin-Nagant's of any flavor as well. Enlightenment only comes from the joy of teaching others the way of the gun. (= I plan on picking up at least one, preferably two, of each before Christmas if at all possible. If God and the IRS love me, maybe even another AR-15, just because I can.
  19. A second civil war in this country is inevitable in my opinion. It just may take living under an oppressive tyrant for a while to get a lot more people into gear about it, by then, it'll be a little bit too late to do something proactive, and it will take even longer to expel that tyrant from power.
  20. The Paypal policy on weapons, knives, and firearms: http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/use/index_frame-outside&ed=weapons I refuse to use it unless I have absolutely no other choice. I canceled my Paypal subscription a while back, the account that I'd had since 2001 because of learning about this policy. If they're going to be that anti-gun, I'm not going to permit them to have any of my money.
  21. Been using Firefox and it's predecessors for years. I only use IE7 for Windows Update and a few very picky websites. I've also used Thunderbird for quite some time.
  22. Cross draw was the most comfortable option I found I could carry with the last time I was on crutches. Only other comfortable method was after some rehab and when I was to the point that I could stand up in the brace if I had to drop the crutch, at that point I could use a thigh holster without too much trouble.
  23. VA gun laws are similar. No permit required to open carry, and restaurant carry is different. No concealed carry in restaurants that serve alcohol for on premises consumption. Open carry is the only way there. Without a Virginia CHP, you can only buy one handgun a month. Their CHP is a piece of paper, not like our ID cards. It doesn't require fingerprints in some counties, it's issued at the county courthouse, you don't have to give your SSN to get it, few other nice things. Check out packing.org and opencarry.org for more info on those. Also, check out the VCDL for more info on VA firearms law. In the southwest/central Virginia areas, it's not that different from East TN. Northern Virginia is a different world. In Virginia, you'll pay slightly higher in taxes. Virginia has banned radar detectors for use on the roads. Virginia police officers tend to be anal about license plates. I've heard stories of them telling people to leave the state because they just had an out of state drive out tag instead of issued plates. The emissions testing is a load of crap, it's just another way of doing the wheel taxes down here.
