  1. I've got a set of green 3-dot Meprolights on my XD-9 4", which I like a lot. They're bright enough for my purposes. I wear glasses, so my test criteria with the night sights I looked at was the ability to see the green glow from 10 feet without my glasses in a very dark room. Then I priced them. Meprolights were the best value for the cash I had in my wallet that day.
  2. Can you send me a link to a picture or just send me a picture of that? That just makes me curious.
  3. Mine thought it was the right idea then too. But they weren't outgunned, they were just outnumbered and severely lacking in manufacturing capabilities. Too bad the state constitution prohibits secession now...
  4. Tempting... If I have details far enough in advance, I can probably convince myself to go somewhere that someone's going to let me shoot Class III weapons.
  5. Personally... I'd get a complete lower if possible from whichever reputable brand strikes your fancy. Unless you're really comfortable dropping the small parts in and such. Then you could get the stripped, and literally pick every component to build the exact rifle you want. The same advice applies to upper receivers in my opinion. Which is worth exactly what you pay for it.
  6. Probably when she was in Labor & Delivery begging the doctor for some pain killers while pushing Chelsea out. I mean come on, the woman knowingly married that philandering manwhore husband of hers. Please God let Thompson get the nomination... Please God let him get JC Watts as a running mate... Oh, and while you're at it, can you get us a constitutional amendment imposing term limits on the House, Senate & Vice President so some of the power tripping politicians will have to go back to the provinces to see how much damage they've caused from DC? Thanks... (=
  7. McCarthy era political errors still come wandering back to haunt us. The words "under God" were added to the pledge to find atheist communist spies in our midst because such people obviously wouldn't want to say the words "under God" while swearing allegiance to a republic... I love the 50's and 60's... Such amusing political screw-ups happened back then. And the politicians that were involved are either dead, senile, or smart enough not to care when people bash them for it.
  8. My bet's on a typo. .357 sounds far more believable. The JC Press isn't known for it's gun savvy staffers regardless. From what I've seen though, it was a justifiable shooting. The family of the deceased will probably go for a civil suit though.
  9. According to my read, Hyder took three loaded weapons when going to confront someone. And the homeowner used a .57 caliber revolver he put in his back pocket before answering the door to defend himself? I think the Press screwed up on reporting something... The only .57 caliber revolvers I know of are blackpowder weapons that won't fit in a back pocket.
  10. That's just the voices inside your head talking. Listen to the voices... the voices are your friends... The voices are here to help you... I can't make it. I have a wedding to attend that day. And another one the 17th in Georgia.
  11. Hmm... maybe I'll stop by sometime. Once in a while I have to take I-24 between Chattanooga and Nashville.
  12. Where exactly in TN is Winchester?
  13. Sounds like you got a bad finish from the factory then. My bi-tone's finish is still in great shape after almost two years of use. And 6 months or so of daily carry. I wonder why Springfield won't replace the slide for you? I've always heard the customer service department is excellent about the XD line.
  14. I only use Kydex at the range, and that's if I don't already have my leather holster belted on already. Leather is more comfortable for me, and easier to conceal.
  15. Probably the same reason most of the people who voted for him did. He was the lesser of two evils that we got to choose between. I know that's the only reason I voted for him.
  16. You won't. My 2000 Civic (supposedly rated for 25mpg city and 33mpg highway) gets 30mpg city and 40mpg highway. I paid cash for it two years ago. My annual insurance, gas & maintenance costs are less than 1/2 of what the payments would be on a new Civic that, at least last time I looked at one, is rated for 27mpg city and 35mpg highway. And the new one would cost more to insure.
  17. Hmm, I guess the 45 is a little broader. Guess I'll have to get separate leather for it if I ever pick one up. Nice to know that Kydex will play nicely with it some of the time though. Thanks.

    XD45 vs XD9

Can someone tell me the difference in width of the two? I've been looking on the SA site, but only height & length are listed. The 45's .25" taller, but I can't find a width measurement. I'm wondering if the holsters would be interchangeable. Fobus claims that their paddle holsters will fit all XD's, but I'm skeptical. Was hoping someone might have tried this if they had one of each lying around.
  19. Something's come up, we won't make it. Have fun without us.

    SD Ammo in .38?

    Corbon DPX standard pressure.
  21. Personally, it should be kept to items that are not guns, but just those that are still related to them. Holsters, ammo, knives, weapon-lights, etc. Just my opinion.
  22. My fiance and I are planning on coming. Pratts at 1100? Are we getting a room of some sort? Or just getting a large table? Also, I'm assuming we'll be caravaning to wherever it is we're shooting?
  23. Having been to Fall Creek Falls back in middle school... I can see how it'd be completely irrelevant to have a drill like out there. Fall Creek Falls is up in the mountains, two turns past the middle of nowhere, not a standard school classroom. Bad timing on the faculty's part, and bad judgment as well. Someone will probably get fired over this. The school will definitely get sued over this. Neither will be a good thing.

    Vacation Time

It does indeed fill up fast for the 4th. And plan on walking. A lot. Ignore whoever suggested the Park Vista for the 4th of July, they cost too much. Shop around for the places in Pigeon Forge or Sevierville that offer suites instead. They cost less than the PV, and are closer to the outlet malls that make the womenfolk so happy.
  25. www.wideners.com is a relatively local source of bulk ammo. It's based here in East Tenn, but they're cheaper than every other ammo supplier I've looked at for .223, regardless of brass vs steel cases. They usually have some relatively cheap .308 as well. I've never seen WWB .308 at the local Wal-Mart, but I've seen the boxes before. WWB .223 isn't probably around $12 per box of 20. For .30 carbine ammo, Wideners occasionally has some new production and surplus lots in stock. Unless there's a Cabelas around here I don't know about, I can't think of anyone else who stocks large quantities of .30 carbine ammo with any regularity in TN.
