My grandpa finally dug a well and had an electric pump put in, but it was sulfur water. The well the porch of his house was built around had good drinking water and we used that kind of bucket to draw water. I was about 10 when they got a real toilet instead of that pot to piss in. LOL

My great aunt had old school sulfur water. Gah that was awful. I'll never forget that taste.

As for my ex-wife she got what she deserved. She got to see the other side of her guy after they said I DO!!!! He used he for a punching bag. Got her pregnant and still punched he until I put a stop to it. He made the mistake of punching my son Ronnie and his wife dragged him out of the house and they left. The only reason he went down to their house was to ask the guy to quit beating his mother so he said ok and punched Ronnie. Tammy, Ronnie's wife could not wait to tell me what happened. She knew I would deal with it. I did.

I would have paid to be there for that whippin! Sounds like she equally learned an important lesson...

I think I did,  hope I did. When my wife learned that she was going to be a grandmother at 32 she denied that it was Doug jr's and would not have anything to do with him and when I would not deny the baby was Doug's she left me and the boys and took up with a man 5 years younger than her and would not have anything to do with me or her two sons or her grandson. She said to  she was to young to be a grand mother. We got  a    divorced and about 5 months later she married the young man. She would not have anything to do with Ronnie her youngest son and his family either. Let me mention also that my son Doug was in the hospital in a coma from his accident when she walked out on us also. There is a lot more but that should be enough to give you some idea of what my life was like after Doug's accident.

It sounds like your grandson is a productive member of society and he values you enough to catch up often and is introducing his lady friend to you... most kids grandparents are an afterthought.

As for your ex... well... that's her loss.

I don't do that either, me and wood do not get along. I just go to Home Depot and buy them or pick something up from marketplace/craigslist. I mean, I measure 3 times and use a square and still can't make a 90 deg corner. If I went to a barn raising I'd have to cook.

This is me. My construction ability can be best described as "janky"

You had to grow up during a very specific time to be faced with this now very obsolete concept. Reaching the nearest pay phone while out and about on your bike when your parents paged you. I had 10 minutes to return the page and knew where every friends house or pay phone was within the area that I roamed about on my bicycle.

getting a page from your buddies with 911911911 after their number. When you reach said pay phone  they say "Can you bring chips and a 2 liter when you come over?!?"

Well I had two sons and I have to admit I waited to long to have the talk and I became a grandfather at 35. My oldest son got his lessons from a young lady 4 yeas older than him and was divorced from her husband and lived in the neighborhood. They had a baby boy and my son got to spend 6 months being a father before his car accident that took his life. I was lucky that the young lady married a great guy and they made sure I was able to be his grandfather and he would come and spend weekends with me when he was little and now he is an adult and I hear from him about once a week and he and his lady friend come and visit when he gets a weekend off. He works for the 911 call center in Dickson County which covers 5 counties. My younger son also has two sons and they have 3 children which makes me a great grandfather.

That has to be tough sir. It made me think hard because just as i finished reading it I heard my son yell "bye dad, i'm going to meet up with Grant". Made my stomach knot up a bit, not gonna lie.

How cool though that your grandson still checks on you weekly! You must have made a good impact on him.

    Music Videos on MTV

3 channels and no remote control on a console TV

Cable Box with a rotary knob/dial
(and flipping that rotary dial to try to catch a glimpse of a channel you did not have!) 🙂

    Gas below $1.00 per gallon

Setting the first knob to 3 and then using the second to change the channel. That's even vague for me

Sparkomatic! There's a name I haven't seen in years. Right next to Jensen.

    Magnavox.

Brings back memories of having to catch your favorite song on the radio so you could record it on tape. Not just any tape either. It was a tape you didn't like anymore, so you stuck paper in the holes so it could be overwritten.
