1. Thanks to all that have commented. Its been very informative.
2. Thanks. That's good to hear as I've never consigned a firearm. I have consigned a few high end bamboo fly rods to out of state dealers before and had good experiences.
3. Thanks. All good points. I've never really attended gun shows and I don't think I would want to consign what I consider a mint condition long gun to a local dealer's rack where the public can handle and mess with it. I'd love to find a local dealer that sells on gunbroker to list the guns on a consignment and commission basis but I haven't had any luck in that regard. Thanks again for your suggestions.
4. Thanks. I do have them listed for sale in this forum's classifieds as well as the classifieds of another hunting forum I am a member of. Both listings say I was giving the members a chance to buy before I go the Gunbroker route. I would very much prefer a face to face sale to a member as opposed to listing them on Gunbroker but I'm researching the sales process on Gunbroker in the event that they don't sell on the forums.
5. I am thinking of listing a few of my long guns for sale on Gunbroker. For those that have sold or are currently selling on Gunbroker are there any common pitfalls or hazards to avoid. I'll be requiring payment by USPS MO or Certified Check and know I will have to ship to the buyers FFL. I plan to ship USPS Priority fully insured probably Registered. I have experience occasionally selling high end fly fishing rods and reels on Ebay and private forums but I have never sold anything on Gunbroker. Thanks in advance for any advice. PM me if you would rather discuss privately.
6. I posted this in the thread on the Marlin 357 thread.  There is an easy and cheap fix for anyone that doesn't like the crossbolt safety on their Marlin lever action.  http://www.leverguns.com/articles/taylor/crossbolt_safety.htm  I haven't used one but it seems to get good reviews on the Marlin forum.
7. I have a Marlin 1894c 357/38 JM barrel with the crossbolt safety and love it.  I personally like the safety as I'm used to them from shotguns.  For those that don't like the safety, you can buy a kit from Leverguns to remove the safety and replace it with a pin for $9.95.  http://www.leverguns.com/articles/taylor/crossbolt_safety.htm   It is a simple install that doesn't require a gunsmith and looks very natural on the rifle.
8. Thanks guys.  That is my understanding as well.  It is hard to believe that three different brick and mortar gun stores/ffls in two states could be so wrong.  Although I haven't bought/sold out of state to date,  I'll definitely insist any sale/purchase gets handled through a FFL if the situation should ever arise in the future.   Thanks for confirming my understanding.
9. I recently was considering the sale of a shotgun to another private party in Georgia.  I am a Tn resident.  The sale never took place as the buyer backed out but an issue arose as to whether he could travel to Tn to purchase the shotgun face to face from me without going through an FFL.   I called two FFLs in Tennessee and one in Georgia and each said it wasn't legally necessary to involve an FFL in the sale or purchase of a long gun between residents of different states, only handguns.    Everything I have read on forums seem to indicate that private parties can not legally sell a long gun face to face to a resident of another state without the involvement of a FFL.  Since I live relatively close to AL, Ga and NC, it might come up in the future.   I have no reason to doubt the FFLs as they would have earned a fee for processing the transfer.  Did I simply misread or misunderstand when an FFL must be involved in a sale/purchase?   My thanks to anyone that can clarify this for me.  Mods please move if this question is more appropriate in another forum.
10. Hard to beat these two: Ruger Security Six 4" and S&W 19-3 2 1/2" . The Ruger is probably the better range/woods gun. Please ignore the p220 in the photo.
11. When I saw these available I placed an order and the payment was processed.  After receiving no confirmation and being unable to confirm the order online, I placed another order about twenty minutes later since they were still showing availability.  I shortly thereafter received a confirmation email on the second order saying the order had been processed, ammo was in stock and estimated delivery was 5/24.  I just received the confirmation email on the first order(different order  #) saying the ammo was backordered with estimated availability of 5/25.   Funny the first order is backordered but the second order is being processed for shipment.  I'm glad I placed the second order although I had no intention of trying to circumvent there one box per day limit.
12. I got a confirmation email on the M-22 a few minutes ago saying I would receive another email with tracking info when it shipped.  Expected delivery is 5/24
13. Thanks.  Mine was delivered earlier this week as well.  They shipped quickly.
14. Sorry to hear about the unavailable notice.  Mine is scheduled for delivery today by FedEx.
15.   I've never used it but it is supposed to be the same ammo as the Lupua Standard Club.  It seems Lupua owns both brands and both are made in the same German factory.  From the limited comments I could find by googling, it appears to be a higher quality than other bulk ammo.  Standard velocity at about 1050 fps.  Hopefully someone that has used it will contribute their thoughts on it.  At 10 cents a round shipped for the 1000 rounds I bought,  it doesn't seem to be a bad deal if the quality is there.
16.   500.  This comes bulk in a sealed can.
17. Grafs has SK 22lr  lead round nose available for $45 a brick shipped plus a $6.95 handling charge.  I just purchased 2 bricks (cans) for about $97 shipped.  Not cheap but not outrageous for Lapua made rounds.   Just thought I would let those looking for 22LR know.
18. Match and Interceptor now available again.
19. I bought a brick of the Aguila 40gr interceptor and one of the 40 grain match.  Prices were reasonable but shipping (each order has it's own shipping charge as they can not combine shipping with a previous order) was about $30 or 3 cents a round.  Combined about 13 cents a round with shipping isn't that bad though with today's prices and I needed it.   I hope it works with my 22LR Sig conversion kit.  The reviews I could find on both weren't bad.
20. IMO there is no right or wrong answer.  It is up to each person and what they feel comfortable with.  We have two 357 mag K frames and a full size 45 auto as well as a 12ga pump loaded with 00.  I am very comfortable with all given the situation and my wife is very comfortable with her S&W Model 19-3 357mag revolver.  I fully recognize there might be situations we would be undergunned (multiple determined attackers etc) when we have access to only one firearm but it seems a practical tradeoff for us given that we live a pretty low risk lifestyle in a low violent crime area.  JMO
21. I've bought two revolvers in the last month.  A S&W Model 19-3 357mag 2 1/2" snubby that my wife will use as her bedside gun and for her vehicle after she gets her HCP.  Prelock and pinned barrel.  She felt a little intimidated by the autos we looked at and liked the simplicity of a revover.  She will carry 38spl +P in the 19-3.  It is chambered for six rounds and she feels much more comfortable not having to be concerned with racking the slide, clearing misfeeds etc.  Just point and shoot.   I also bought a Ruger Security Six SS 4" 357Mag 4" chambered for six rounds as a woods, mountain trout fishing handgun.  I can carry either holstered or in my fishing vest and not have to worry about it getting beat up.  It is built like a tank and can easily handle full 357 loads.   I can see why those that don't spend a ton of time at the range can decide on a revolver as their best choice.
22. As for the original question, I don't see how you could complete the shooting requirement Tennessee requires online.
23. A little over 3 weeks for mine.  Application was submitted mid January.
24. I'm really impressed you remember your basic training days so clearly.  I took basic at Ft Knox late 1970 as a draftee and thought I had been dropped on another planet.  Its all just a blur now but I remember thinking it was nothing like the military movies I had seen.  LOL.
25. I just bought my wife a S&W 19-3 357 magnum for her side of the bed and for carry in her car after she completes her carry class.  The DA trigger pull is very smooth and she has begun getting comfortable with it with light 38spl loads.  She could never get comfortable with my 12ga pump(my HD weapon of choice) or with my SigP220 45.  She says a revolver just seems more natural to her.  I'm not going to try to argue with her about it.
