Interesting. We've been looking for an actual instance of this. Of course, being in an airport and getting to the actual carry on scan area (I guess) is sort of is out of the mainstream enforcement of 1351 1359. I mean, you get that far and they're surely gonna toss everything at you they can. But good find RB, really. Can you keep up with these and see final deposition of the charges, also? - OS

Have not seen one, I mean not ONE, at any of the gun shows yet since released. Guess they sell right away with whatever price is on them. - OS

Some production was moved to KY and some into Remington's already existing plant in Ilion, NY. Dunno which are made where. There has been a lot of criticism about the ones put out since the Remington acquisition in '07 and even more about the newest ones since closing the Marlin plant in North Haven, CT last year. Then again, much similar can be said about certain Remington products, too. - OS

Opinion: What is the best John Wayne movie of all time?
Oh Shoot replied to gunrunner32's topic in General Chat
Best John Wayne story I'll repeat, according to oft repeated Hollywood lore: When he played the centurion at the foot of the cross in Greatest Story Ever Told, he only had a line or two, and it was bad enough to hear a Roman speak in a cowboy drawl, but his rendition of the line "Surely this man was the son of God" had director Stevens make him do it over and over. Supposedly at one point Stevens said, "Duke, try to put a little awe in there". So Wayne gamely intones, "Aww, surely this man was the son of God." ! If it ain't true, it should be. - OS -
I know I know, fiber optic sites are effective, but to me they just look like hell on a gun like that. The Single 10 has them too, and they look even worse on a single action. - OS

File mostly, if really beat up. And/or some big stone you can hold onto. Lansky Puck is nice: And not too thinly sharp, assuming it's really for machete work and not beheading bad guys. - OS

Meh, already been done. 2-bore is 1.32 caliber! Shooting some fairly low power rounds through one. - OS

Sorry 'bout that. One prob, there's a persistent rumor that I was born in Patagonia of Tierra Del Fuegoan parents -- but I guess anymore that wouldn't be much of a problem to gloss over. - OS -
As would the Fair Tax nationally. - OS

Let's see now: - FEMA advises to store food and supplies - Presidential Order 12919, still standing, by Slick Willie in 1994, allows confiscation of all privately held food and supplies Millennium-Ark: Executive Orders and Storing-Is It Lawful? Millennium Ark: Executive Order 12919 Just as in the case of guns, if you want to confiscate something, it's handy to know where it is beforehand, eh? - OS

Bob Pope in the Tennessean talking about private sales
Oh Shoot replied to shortround's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not debating there are all kinds of ways to score a gun. I used to could buy them underhandedly in a certain county from police confiscations; some very nice heaters in the selection, too; maybe a little cheaper, but in the ballpark of the same price as gun shows and newspaper ads of the day. I think the reality of private sales of firearms is just an "inconvenient truth" for 2A folks. It's simply irrefutable that a private sale is indeed a legal way (on part of the seller) for an ineligible person to buy a gun. Gun shows just conveniently concentrate a bunch of private sellers in one location. The real truth is simply that freedom has a certain degree of cost and risk to both individuals and society in general, whether it's re gun sales or riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Hell, I'm one who thinks that ANYone should have their gun rights restored after debt to society is paid, regardless of the previous offense. The overall long term principles of freedom should override the slight increase in risk, etc. Banning private sales likely wouldn't affect gun related crime rate significantly, if at all, that's not my point, anymore than drug laws have prevented drug sales and usage -- just tweaks the price of the product. Might actually increase burglary rate, since price of those "crack guns" would rise and the risk/reward ratio is improved for the thief. - OS -

Well, most folks on TGO say that, so it must be true. Pretty amazing to me that every criminal in TN knows exactly where to buy a stolen gun at the drop of a hat -- there must be a much better network than back when. - OS -
I get a FireFox message I've never seen before from that link. "The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies." IE simply says "cannot display the webpage". - OS

Oh Shoot replied to kieefer's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I think O dropping Joe and picking up Hildebeeste is more likely, IF she'll do it. If she thinks it's her best shot to the presidency in 2016, she just might. She'd just be Newt's age then. Btw, you know she still has her campaign website up? You can still contribute, too. Me too, maybe. Looks close. Hard to know whether enough people are disgruntled enough to simply vote against O no matter what. For sure, the GOP ain't looking good for the Southern vote with Romney, or the Protestant vote with either, or the youth vote with either. No semblance of "man for all seasons" candidate, or even "man for most seasons". So I'll repeat what I just opined in another thread: ----------------- The GOP really blew it by not grooming a new, younger candidate or two and throwing resources behind them. Rubio, Ryan, or similar. Basically a dynamic "Hope and Change" entry of our own, from somewhat right of center, as most of America claims to be. ---------------- Forget credentials and experience, the GOP just needs someone younger, with charisma and less baggage. - OS -

See my previous post. I'd say plenty of felons buy from gun shows. I'd wager that some people who sell on this oft mentioned underground "street" also get them from gunshows. Not all folks who need to make an illegal purchase need it for that night. Not all felons who want a gun even intend to use it unlawfully (beyond the obvious crime of just possessing it). Not all are ignorant of gun brands and value, and not all want a Raven, Jiminez, or even Hi-Point. My past um, association with this part of the non-gun show underground weapons market indicated that guns weren't necessarily cheaper and indeed, often more expensive than from gun shows. There's a gunshow within ~150 miles of you every weekend in TN (and/or most other states), no long waits necessary. /devil's advocate continued - OS -
Storage of gun in car on campus by a non-student adult is not dependent on having an HCP. Thus we assume the intention is that the gun be unloaded, since that is the only way a non-HCP holder can possess a gun in vehicle. Note of course, that should for some reason the car be searched, she could be fired and/or expelled whether she were criminally charged or not. (I'm assuming the college has a no-firearms policy for both staff and students like all I have ever heard of in TN). As far as whether your wife is a student all the time or only when she is attending classes, I would think she is a student for any period in which she is enrolled.* *This opinion on yet another of the many gray areas of TCA weapon law is worth exactly what you have paid for it. - OS

Not necessarily a "Survival Get Together" BUT...

Already planned on gunshow for Sat, hopefully you'll host some more of these.... - OS -
I go to a Baptist church about 6 times a year. Not because of any children, but to assuage my mom (whose faith is very much on a childlike level, just to stay on topic). There's a Messianic Judaic church down the street from me, now there's a blend bound to mess with a youngster's mind, would seem to me. I agree about the sense of community that a church provides, however -- even chipped at Unitarianism just toward that endeavor, but nah, the culture wasn't worth the comfort. - OS
