October Meet and Greet - No Shoot
saintsfanbrian replied to saintsfanbrian's topic in Events and Gatherings
There are plenty of parks around. We could meet at Shelby Farms where the playground is so the kids can have fun. I haven't spoken of this with Ms. Saintsfan but any chance we get to take the kids to the park is usually appreciated. How about mid October? -
Does anyone here have a contact with the Veterans Administration?
saintsfanbrian replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
We had a post on here relating to Military Records Help with a link to this site: http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html Not sure how helpful they will be? http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11531&highlight=Military+Service+Records -
How about a weekend in October for the Memphis faction of TGO to get together at a park with the kids to enjoy nice weather and each others company with no guns involved? I can't always get to the range when I want to but I can usually get the wife to go to the park with the kids to get some energy out.

My wife might be interested. She has been doing the books for an AC company for the past 7 years and spent a year as the controller for an Architectural/Engineering firm. Plus, you could pay her in guns!

Sitting on the porch, watching the storms roll in...
saintsfanbrian replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Nah, he found out there are only two guns in heaven - the 1911 and a Glock. Seriously though, I agree and will probably sit on the back porch tonight and watch the kids play and think of how wonderful I have it. Might even drink a scotch in his honor. -
In this country there will NEVER be another TRUE conservative in the White House. The closest we get to it are moderate conservatives that will break their backs bending over the aisle to appease the other side. I don't like any of the choices for President but I will vote for the lesser of two evils. Had Hillary gotten the nod I probably would have voted 3rd party.

"old soldiers never die; they just fade away. And like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty" This was in a speech by MacArthur. I think it is fitting here. The Pearly Gates have a new man for the security detail. Mars may not have believed in it but that doesn't mean God didn't believe in him.

BEST WEEK EVER!!!!!!
saintsfanbrian replied to pops572's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I didn't want to look. I promise I didn't and they made me. I took one quick peek and then right back to by her face whispering encouragement. Cut the cords for both kids. Wouldn't change that. Thankfully neither of us wants any more kids. Babies or not. -
My wife and I also discussed this. She was against it and I am for it for the same reasons that Tungsten has laid out. Have to keep some of the banks going in order to keep the economy stable.

I guess you missed this part. The poster didn't state whether they had gotten together and decided the best course of action for their neighborhood. If they had then no one would have "called the cops" to let them know a man with a gun was walking down the street. Personally, again, let the "heathens" have it and I am getting out of here if I possibly can.

That's okay, I would rather work at McDonald's than Guns & @55Holes

I know you didn't. Just clarifying my position. Yup, they left it TOTALLY OPEN to CTA.

Having mucho family that live in and around New Orleans I can say that the majority of them when they went back were armed. They just didn't let the rest of the world know it. They kept their weapons concealed and were able to get to them as needed. Thanks for the backup there Verbal. I have thought about this scenario since Memphis is on a fault and is expected to have a "big one" with in the next 50 years. I will gladly protect my family. If the neighbors wish to organize a neighborhood watch on this then we can discuss how best to man it etc. I think our better course of action would be to get the family and get out of this city and let the "heathens" finally have it. Difference between a hurricane and an earthquake is that they had warning and could leave. We won't.

I know that Tungsten, I just am a little peeved because they rewrote the thing and added it in there. It wasn't there before. I know, concealed means concealed, but the way I read the policy is that the pocket knife I carry is technically a weapon and I could get fired for that. Rule of thumb, don't piss off the co-workers.

Father shouldn't have been "patrolling the streets". This is the job of the police/national guard. He could stay home and protect his property. Now if several neighbors got together to make a "citizens watch" that would be a different scenario that would be dealt with once proper authorities had arrived.

Well, when I got hired here I looked through out the entire manual for any reference what so ever to weapons or firearms and found none. The new company "reference" document came out today and there is a new section: Work Place Violence For the safety and well-being of all employees,My Company strives to maintain a work environment free from intimidation, threats, or violent acts and has a “no tolerance” policy on Work Place Violence. This includes, but is not limited to, intimidating, threatening, or hostile behaviors, physical abuse, vandalism, arson, sabotage, use of weapons, carrying or possession of weapons of any kind onto Company property, or any other act, which, in our opinion, is inappropriate to the workplace. In all situations where we deem appropriate, we reserve the right to immediately terminate employment and/or contact local enforcement authorities when violations of this policy have been substantiated. Apparently a pocket knife or a pistol in the car is an act of violence.

Take the woods. And in that case you aren't going with the intent to go armed you are in the lawful act of hunting. If you put it in a case I don't think anyone would think twice.
