I usually try to practice/train on distances that I feel are more likely to be a "clean shoot." 25 yards (75 feet) I think are a bit "far fetched." I am more likely to be looking for cover under those scenarios. I am not saying that I wouldn't shoot, but it is "less likely." I believe the FBI statistics state that most incidents resulting in the use of a handgun for personal defense are withing 7 to 10 feet. I train out to 30 to be on the safe side. 10 yards or less and I am going to drop you like a wet sack. I think the Kel-Tec should be more than adequate for that range. See if RangeUSA or Range Master have one to rent. Even renting the P3AT will give you an idea of how the PF9 will shoot.

And many of them can be found in your local gun store.

Kel-Tec PF9. I haven't shot one but they are definitely budget friendly, small and don't have an external safety. I am looking at getting one once some other things are taken care of. They also make a P-3AT (.380) which many members carry as a pocket gun. With the right pocket holster no one can tell you don't just have a wallet back there.

Is $200 a month for cable TV and Internet too much?
saintsfanbrian replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I just thought they had to broadcast in Digital not analog. I didn't realize they would not be doing over the air transmissions. -

Mike, I wouldn't count on Sirius getting any better after the merger. XM has had issues with satellites lately. -

My issues with DirecTV was that they had to get rid of Tivo. Thanks a lot Tivo. The installs have been great because I tell the installer to set the dish and get a signal to it, leave me a hundred feet of cable or so and some crimp on connectors (the good ones not the ones that you use pliers for) and then go away. I know how to run cable and can do it just as good as they can if not better because I care about my property. -
Go to a range that rents both. Try them both for real not just fondling in the store. Pick the one you shoot better. I have a G19 and an XD9 (though I haven't shot the XD yet I like the feel but until I get range time with it I am not carrying it.)

Expired CCW do I have to take class again?
saintsfanbrian replied to jeepbus's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The military requirement will fulfill the actual shooting part but not the class part. Since the class deals with TN laws (to a degree.) Unfortunately it has been more than 6 months since yours expired. You will have to take the class again. Some of the places around here offer 2 fers for the class. Look in to the schools in your area. -
I always wanted to build a replica Memphis Belle complete with armament. Of course, I would have to start out small I have never flown an RC plane in my life.

Actually, the new DVR boxes will work through your home network wired or wireless. I have a box that uses Tivo that hasn't been hooked in to a phone line for well over a year and it still records and gets its updates. If I ever have issues I plug it in for a moment just to get a signal. Yes you will need a land line but again, if you go with DSL you will need one anyway. -

Just a quick look on the DirecTV site and they want a whole bunch of money up front, but the first year of service will have your monthly payments at $79 for the first year and then $100 after that. If you decide to go with them let me know, I will send you the refer a friend package and we will each get a little break. Then again, you could just call them and say, what can you do for me in order for me to leave cable. I did that and they ended up throwing in a whole bunch of free stuff (free DVR, free upgrade to HD, free upgrade to newest HDDVR.) Basically when my "contract" runs out I call them and tell them what Comcast is willing to give me to switch back to them and I see what DirecTV will do to keep me. I don't think of this as cheating them. After all, what are they really doing for my $90 a month? Not much. Their satellite is sending out a signal that their box is decoding. They don't have to pay anymore for my satellite receiver sitting out there. -

Basically, you are dewercs. DirecTV will allow you better HD options (I love it and the DVR service is adequate but not the Tivo service they used to offer.) DSL can rival cable in some cases and the fact that you can bundle services such as Home phone (I only pay for the basic necessities since I have an alarm), DSL, DirecTV and if you are on AT&T for cellular you can put all of that on one bill and they will give you a price break. If you love Pro-Football and can't stand being forced to watch the Titans or the Colts play, you can get the Sunday Ticket (though you have to pay an additional $100 to get the games in HD.) From what I can see, they are gonna get you one way or another. I haven't had any complaints since ditching Comcast a few months ago. I got tired of them raising the rates every year but not providing me with better service. Netflix is an option for movies, especially with downloads to your computer. -
Welcome

P.S. Mine was 4 years ago (almost) I will be renewing after the first of the year to put me with in the 6 month time frame for not having to take the class again, but giving the state plenty of time to get it to me before mine expires.

Most laws are a waste of paper. I think the original 10 would encompass just about everything we need today but the government has bloated.
-
I think we determined that they do printing on or about the 15th. If you got yours in too close to that date you will be waiting until after the 15th of the next month. So basically, you got yours in within a week of the 15th so you might have been lucky, but I doubt it. With the holidays, I would look for it around the end of January. Let us know when you get it.

Don't you think he might have a little trouble in school with a name like .357? I would think that would be an automatic suspension these days. As for loot, I got a waffle iron, some great pictures of the kids framed and a couple of CD's DVD's that I wanted.

Yeah, I know, what a concept. Allow law abiding citizens to carry on planes. Mythbuster's proved you wouldn't drop a plane from the sky by an errant bullet. -
Dogs: family or property?
saintsfanbrian replied to andersmg's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
And we "affluent" citizens of Memphis will end up footing the bill because god knows half of the people here don't pay their MLGW bill anyway. -
