  1. More importantly we must be diligent on our attempts to keep our local government working for us. When the local government is on your side it tends to creep up to the state level and finally to the national level. The states "should be" sovereign but the young men in Washington DC seem to forget that and start enacting laws that take precedence over the state level. Shouldn't be but they do. Personal opinion is it is time to send them all back home and start fresh. Then again, that was what old George did about 230 years ago.
  2. Duplicate post talked about here: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4286&highlight=SB3395
  3. Whether the Dems put up Hillary or Obama doesn't matter, I will vote for the Republican (whoever it may be) in order to keep from that person getting elected. If and only if this country actually pulls its collective head from its collective rear end will I consider voting 3rd party on a national level. Locally is an entirely different issue.
  4. I haven't heard that in forever. I used to love that album....
  5. I got my permit and had to get a new picture because the old one had full beard etc and I didn't like it. When I renewed my DL on line they sent it with the same pic as I have on my permit.
  6. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with a Beretta 92FS. Not only is it a good full size firearm, they perform flawlessly. Ask Mars, he has carried one in more places than you and I would care to even think about. It is reasonably priced (around $500.) It can be concealed with relative ease though wearing that extra shirt in the summer might be a little warm I would rather sweat then be dead. It is a good home gun as it has a manual safety and can be activated very quickly but can also be kept around little hands. 9mm is cheap to shoot. More range time means better accuracy means more comfort with the gun should something happen while firing. I own a G19 and I like it for carry. I own an XD-9 but I haven't shot it yet so I don't know about it for a carry/home protection. I had a 1911, but I didn't like the expense of shooting it for proficiency.
  7. Personally I like www.pandora.com. Currently I am listening to Pink Floyd, but lately I have been in an Old Standar/Vocal mood. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Harry Connick, Jr., Nora Jones and the like. Tomorrow will probably be a Misfits/Metallica/Overkill day....
  8. Don't worry about offending me. I don't really dislike the guy. I just dislike poaching and hunting for trophy only...
  9. Yeah, I was trying to be brief. Then again.....I am not a conservative, I am a leave me the f alone and I will leave you alone.
  10. A little, but I still don't like the fact that Elephants were killed for just their tusks. Don't get me wrong, you want to hunt, you go right ahead, just eat what you kill and use as much of the carcass etc as you can. I don't believe in Trophy hunts.
  11. Of course you may....Howdy
  12. It depends on the person. I personally consider it some one with traditional values. Some one that is concerned about the "nuclear" family unit. One man and one woman make up a family. Some one that believes in God (of some sort) and tries to follow their religious teachings. Some one not likely to having their child read "I have two mommies" and not be talking about a step mom. Some one that takes financial responsibility for their self and their family. Some one that doesn't expect others to take care of them. Some one that supports the Constitution and the intents of the founding fathers as they were written on paper and ratified by the states. Some one that doesn't think the Constitution is a "living" document that can be "changed at will" and interpreted to mean what every you want on any given day. Now, does a Conservative have to be a republican? Does a republican have to be a conservative? Nope, but it helps.
  13. Have played with Linux, but many apps that I use are not compatible (yet) when they are I will convert
  14. If that is true Ivory from Elephant Tusks then I truly dislike you. Other than that they are pretty.
  15. But depending on where the school is located, you are taking a risk of having your car broken in to and your pistol stolen. This is why I think there should be fewer restrictions. I think most of the laws restricting where firearms are allowed should be amended to include With Out a VALID Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit....... After all, we are law abiding citizens. We aren't known for "flying off the handle and shooting up schools." Oh well, maybe when Naifeh is out of office.
  16. Okay, Ron Paul would be a viable candidate if America had more than a 2 party system. Sure, they are out there and they run in almost every election but they are not a real factor. Reagan would not like at all what the "Republican" party is becoming. After all, he spoke about how a party CANNOT be ALL things to ALL people. That the party had to have clearly defined ideas and needed to stick to those. Now, as for the next election, I don't know who I will vote for, but I know either way it is going to be bad for the country. We cannot continue on this downward spiral of appeasing every special interest group that comes along at some point in time we have to say enough is enough....stop your complaining and get over yourself. Unfortunately it will probably take another GLOBAL war or another depression to get people to realize that they have to get along before they can go along. A depression would show the government that the individual DOES have a need to own firearms because there will be people out there trying even harder to take what they need instead of working for it. Granted jobs will be scarce. This is where having skills will come in handy. Rant Off.
  17. It would be a no-no unless you are on campus for a school sponsored and approved activity involving your firearm...
  18. We all have to learn some time, but I agree, going over the head would be better than to the ankles.
  19. First I am NOT a lawyer and I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but.... An 18 year old is not a Minor they are a major. They can enter in to contracts legally, purchase tobacco products, join the military and go to federal pound me in the @$$ prison if they do something really wrong. I looked on the official range rules that Canyon posted and it only states that So I would print that out and take it with you to them. She should be good to shoot. This comes from the Brady Campaign website so it must be factual.... Here is the actual law regarding the subject Again, range rules can trump the law as this is private property and the rules are being more restrictive. Give Scott a call.
  20. Fred took too long to decide if he was going to run or not. Personally I think this was some one else pressuring him in to running. He hasn't put the effort in to the campaign that other candidates have. I support his platform, unfortunately the campaign is built on shaky foundations.
  21. The only time you can protect property is if you are in reasonable fear for your life while it is being taken. If a man is in your driveway taking your car you cannot confront him with a gun. You can take a gun out there (if you choose to be so bold) and if they confront you with a means that would reasonably lead you to fear for your life you can use what ever mean necessary to stop the threat but you cannot "effect an arrest" with a gun for some one taking your property.
  22. Same old same old. The law abiding people will have to become criminals if they want to protect themselves and the criminals will know this so they will go along preying on the innocent. Nice Naifeh. I am sure glad that you are doing the citizens of this state proud in your desire to do nothing. While you are at it, why don't you just go ahead and consolidate Memphis w/ Shelby County. I am sure the rest of the state could use that.
  23. Let's see, currently I have a Martin DX-1 and a Jasmine acoustic. I used to own a Gibson U2 that I destroyed and wish like heck I never did. That was one awesome axe. 2 Single coil and one double coil humbucker that you could split. Depending on the pickup configuration you chose you could get the sound of a Fender Strat or a Gibson Les-Paul I keep looking and hoping to find one again in decent condition but there weren't that many made and most people don't want to part with them.
  24. I wonder what the local Indoor Range owner would say if he saw that thing whipped out on a Tuesday afternoon. They only allow ARs on Saturday nights with ammo purchased from them.... Dang Nazi's
  25. Unfortunately, in Memphis, there is so much Blood Running in the Streets from all of the legal gun owners and carriers out there that the mass populous is afeared of us carrying in Outback Steakhouse. I want you to take a moment to think about where most of the restaurants are located - near malls which are bastions for criminals. - Mall of Murder (Memphis) anyone? Thanks Tom for your insightful letter, but I don't think it will do much good here in this town. Too many reports about people "packing heat" to over come. But I emailed my reps anyway...
