  1. So, should a loan manager give one of his buddies a better rate on a mortgage even if his credit isn't up to snuff? This all goes to being professional and having character. If you truly have character, you will not ACCEPT the lack of a ticket from a fellow police officer. If you have character, you will not have to worry about bad things catching up with you because there won't be any. Is it legal / within guidelines for police officers to accept free meals from restaurants or free donuts? I could be wrong, but I don't think it is. This is along the same lines as NOT giving a fellow officer (or their family member) a ticket when you catch them doing something wrong. If you give or accept the free ride, you are doing something wrong unless you never write ANYONE a ticket.
  2. Where did you go to be finger printed in VA? They might have a record of it. How did you pay for it? Check? Credit Card? There might be a record there. Aren't you prior military? Didn't they ease the restrictions for that case also? successfully completed all handgun training of not less than four (4) hours as required by any branch of the military.
  3. Dariks - how long you here for?
  4. Dave, I am not saying that you are REQUIRED to write a ticket to a cop or their family. All I am saying is that as a cop you shouldn't EXPECT to NOT get a ticket. Perk or not, Police officers should be held to the SAME or HIGHER standard as regular citizen. Preferably just the SAME standard and if you as a police officer write me a ticket for going 20 over the limit and one of your police officer friends does the exact same thing, you should write him a ticket too.
  5. Welcome to the fray.
  6. Okay - so even though there is nothing against having a firearm on company property in any way shape or form, the wife is uncomfortable with me carrying to work. I did it today with out incident. No one noticed in the least, but she insisted that rather than taking a chance on losing a job that I absolutely love I should start leaving it in the car. The problem I have with that is there is no way to lock it up in the car other than the glove box and we all know how secure those are. So I did some searching. I can go to www.tuffyproducts.com and get a really nice under seat drawer for the back seat and have storage for the gun and then some for about $300. Or, I can go to Midway or another vendor and get a secure-it security box and mount it to the floor of the car under a seat. The question is, has anyone had experience with one of these: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=434716&t=11082005 After 0down's lovely statistics that he provided about this city, I really don't want to be unarmed.
  7. Don't we all know how to dispose of a body?
  8. Welcome, from the Worst Place in the country, Memphis!!!
  9. Mars is wishing again!!! He hasn't needed those in years, well until Viagra came along!!!!
  10. I knew you were, but the general sentiment has changed some what on this thread.
  11. That's because you grind them up and turn them in to dog food for cadaver dogs.
  12. No wonder Shelby County had the highest number of Permit Applications out of the state. And people think I am strange for protecting myself and my family.
  13. Wow, this thread sure is shifting. From an original outcry of police brutality to the kid is lucky he didn't get worse. Remember, it is the officers RESPONSIBILITY to maintain professionalism at all times regardless of what is said to him. As long as the kid wasn't assaulting him physically, there was no real reason to use such force to subdue him. I don't care if he called the cops mother a transvestite wildabeast from planet 9. If coltCCO placed his hands on the officer, then all bets are off. As long as he was complying with "lawful orders" everything else is trivial. If police officer J told me to keep my hands in plain site and I did and then he asked me to get something out of my pocket, and I did, and he then started grabbing me and forcing me up against a wall, you bet I would be pissed. Then again, while we do not have a mandatory concealed clause on our carry permit, I have rethought my stance on open carrying and think it is best if the only people that know I am armed are the ones that need to know. Me and my wife. Hell half the time she doesn't even know.
  14. It it's cost effective, then I would say loose the URL all together. Subtle. If some one is interested int what TGO is, they will ask and we can direct them.
  15. I am down with the Washed Polo hats. I have always liked the way they fit my melon.
  16. I know what he meant, I just meant that I don't have any of that stuff. Seriously contemplating trading in a couple for a new one, but the wife doesn't like it when I do that. I am thinking really hard about an H&K or a Walther over the Glock.
  17. Yes and No. I like it, but I would probably see about just the logo and then put the url on the back. Like you said, subtlety is a wonderful thing and having it back there where most people won't see it is a good idea, in my opinion. Wouldn't stop me from buying one if the hat quality is there.
  18. Non -Essential funds? What's that?
  19. That site is incredible. I am curious as to why an off duty police officer or the family members of police officers deserve SPECIAL treatment when it comes to breaking the law. Even one as trivial as speeding. If you cannot uphold the laws you swear to defend then you shouldn't be defending them. I am not a police officer, but I would like to think that if I were I would not ABUSE my POWER by expecting and giving special treatment under the law. It is this exact mentality that creates an us versus them situation between "regular" citizens and the police officers that are there to "serve and protect." Okay - I read some more and I am really perturbed that Police officers feel this way when they receive a citation for doing something that they likely have written a hundred citations for. Why should you be any different? Why should I expect less from you than I do from an average citizen. This actually makes me want to become a police officer just so I can express this to my fellow officers. As J.C. Watts said "Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking." Well guess what officers, when it comes to you and the law EVERYONE is ALWAYS looking. You should NOT get special treatment. Is your job dangerous? Sure, then again, you chose it.
  20. Well, Mr. Obsessed. Tell us what weekend you will be here and we will see what we can do about arranging around that.
  21. Who is up for an October (Halloween ish) get together for us West TN people?
  22. I wish he were the mayor in this F.I.N.E. city I live in.
  23. He is in politics, he just can't talk about it. Sometimes it's better that we don't know what Mars is up to.
  24. Rabbi, Kind of like the grid lock right now with Bush in office and libs in the congress? I think those are some of the best presidencies ever!!
