  1. I received this e-mail today from Georgia Arms... To our Valued Customers, Effective 3/12/09 DOD Surplus, LLC is requiring the mutilation of all spent shell casings. This, of course is designed to prevent the recycling of these cases. This creates a situation that would appear to be the opposite of what our national focus is reported to be. As we are asked to recycle and move to GREEN products on one hand, we are being instructed to destroy this brass rather than recycle it on the other. First, this decreases the value of this surplus product to the government by about 80%, wasting revenue that we desperately need in these economically stressed times. Second, destroying this brass creates a huge expenditure of energy to resmelt, realloy, restamp and redraw this now unusable product to make it usable again. How is that going green and how does that benefit anyone? Third, it puts unnecessary economic stress on our job market. There is no question that this new policy will result in layoffs to some of our employees. I believe our goal should be to create more jobs, not more unemployment. This is not to mention the obvious We all need to contact our represenatives and let them know how destructive this new directive is to our economy. We are evaluating our present inventory of 223, 308 brass to determine how best to supply these ammunitions to orders on hand as far back as 10/08. We will advise you, our customer, this week on website & through email our decisions on future sale, shipments. Thanks Georgia Arms Below are two emails that we received from DOD (Department of Defense): Dear Valued Customer: Please take a moment to note important changes set forth by the Defense Logistics Agency: Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA's current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately. This notice also requires SV to immediately cease delivery of any fired munitions that have been recently sold or on active term contracts, unless the material has been mutilated prior to sale or SV personnel can attest to the mutilation after delivery. A certificate of destruction is required in either case. Thank you, DOD Surplus 15051 N Kierland Blvd # 300 Scottsdale, AZ 85254 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March 12, 2009 Georgia Arms PO Box 238 Villa Rica, GA 30180 Re: Event 7084-6200: Dear Larry Haynie, Effective immediately DOD Surplus, LLC, will be implementing new requirements for mutilation of fired shell casings. The new DRMS requirement calls for DOD Surplus personnel to witness the mutilation of the property and sign the Certificate of Destruction. Mutilation of the property can be done at the DRMO, if permitted by the Government, or it may be mutilated at a site chosen by the buyer. Mutilation means that the property will be destroyed to the extent prevents its reuse or reconstruction. DOD Surplus personnel will determine when property has been sufficiently mutilated to meet the requirements of the Government. If you do not agree with the new conditions of your spot sale, please sign the appropriate box provided below stating that you do not agree to the new terms and would like to cancel your purchase effective immediately. If you do agree to the new terms please sign in the appropriate box provided below to acknowledge your understanding and agreement with the new requirements relating to your purchase. Fax the signed document back to (480) 367-1450, emailed responses are not acceptable. Please respond to this request no later than close of business Monday, March 16th, 2009. Sincerely, Government Liquidation.
  2. Kimber Pro CDP II.
  3. I use Cabonite on line backup. 50 bucks a year and it backs up everything. It runs in the background and I haven't noticed any interference or system slow downs at all. Best part is I don't have to do anything. It's all automatic after telling the program what directories you want to keep backed up. Any time you add files to the marked directories it just automatically backs it up to their server.
  4. Talk to Joe @ Hero Gear, he sold me my Kimber.
  5. I have a CDP II Pro that I carry everyday. I have fired around 4 to 5 hundred rounds through it with some of the crappiest ammo found on the planet and have had no issues what so ever. Its extremely comfortable to wear IWB and its very accurate.
  6. You could always add an hour and a half to the trip and go through Dyersburg then take I-55 up through Missouri if you don't feel comfortable going through Illinois.
  7. Mine has a big "MI" on the front, but other than that it looks like an exact match...

  10. David, My families prayers are with you and your wife. We are so sorry for the loss of your son Landon. I am glad that you were able to have spent some time with him, even if that time was short, your memories of that moment will be with you forever.

    1911, why?

Astra900 one quick question, do you carry your XD with a round in the chamber? I carry both the 1911 and an XD40 but prefer the 1911. I like the feel of the gun and I also like the single stack magazines as well.
  12. Yup, Kimber Pro CDP II and a Del-ton M4 from Joe down at Hero Gear.
  13. I think all it will take is one incident, either real, or staged once Obama is sworn in. And with as many billybubba rednecks, skinheads, idiots, Clansmen, or just some nut with voices telling him to go do his deranged duty there are out there it won't take long before someone supplies them with exactly what they are looking for. They won't hesitate to act first and then fight the court battle of whether its constitutional or not for the next eight to ten years.
  14. He probably won't come out from behind the bullet proof glass for the next four years...
  15. Fantastic to see a Dad that spends the right kind of time with his son. Great deer! Even better memory! There's lots of fathers out there but very few Dads.
  16. Finally! Received my HCP today. Turned in my paperwork on Aug. 22rd. 54 days, that's not to bad.
  17. Got it. Thanks for making it available.

    XD Owners!

XD 40 4" V-10 Ported. I put around 600 rounds through it using some of the cheapest crap I could find trying to see what would foul it up and it has been flawless. The more I fire the XD the better it gets. Wish I had not gotten the ported version now firing in a dark or low light situation sometimes makes me starry eyed due to the flash.
  19. Definitely not knocking any other 1911's, they are all great looking. The Nighthawk is a beautiful pistol. Expensive pistol. Do you carry the Nighthawk everyday or cycle it with others?
  20. Yes it is. In my own personal opinion I think the Kimbers are the best looking 1911's on the market.
  21. I agree that a gun is a tool and I am not new to guns. I was raised on a very large farm where they were a necessity not a luxury. I am however new to the fact that I have to have a permit to defend myself against a different kind of snake off the farm. I agree that if you are going to carry you should become as proficient with that or any other weapon that you might carry because your very life may depend on it. Having said that though that's why they make different models of firearms so one can find the gun that is 1.) Best suited for the person and 2.) Best suited for the job. This is why I brought up the question of finish. I found that I like the way the Kimber 1911 or any other 1911 weather it's a Springfield, Taurus, Nighthawk or a Rock Island fits in my hand. But this is also why they make the same pistols in different finishes, so everybody has a choice and if I can spend a few more dollars on the front end to keep my firearm in top condition inside and out I think it is worth it.
  22. I agree, its hard to beat a good quality blued finish. I just hate to ruin a purdy gun finish. But having said that I was down at Hero-Gear and found a 1911 that felt like it was tailored specially for my big hands. It was a Kimber Tactical Pro II with a blued finish that I guess I'll have to go back and get.
  23. Good looking pistol.
  24. Fantastic book! I read it a couple of months ago. I recall all of the incidents but had no idea that they were all linked to Marcus Luttrell's story until I read the book. Truly a story about real heroes.
